When I’m drawing my mind tends to go through 3 stages: 1 - discovering a shape/face/design that feels good and satisfying 2 - riding that excitement of discovery to continue filling out the character/pose/scene to something final 3 - getting bored very quickly/losing that spark and deciding it’s not worth continuing Every time without fail. Very rarely do I get to stage 4 which is actually finish the damn thing. In 2017 I wrote a travel comic about my time studying in Barcelona. I approached it as if it were a guide for people with anxiety on how they could enjoy being in new, unfamiliar places. It was the first time drawing a weekly series and I’m quite proud of it. The art is basic but the tools I had were laughably bad. First I started with an old secondhand drawing tablet and an off brand stylus I got from the internet. When that stopped working I resorted drawing with my mouse. Then about a month into my stay I spilled water on my laptop and while it stayed perfectly functional, the mouse input would jump across the screen with a mind of its own. I had to fight it constantly to make any kind of steady lines. I downloaded a custom ballpoint pen brush for cspaint and I’m falling in love with it. Basic-ass pens are my favorite things to draw with.
