The two best found family piles are the foxes in a foxpile and Rune's family sleeping on yoga mats in the ballroom after quarantine
no found family ever hit as hard as the foxes when all nine of them slept together at Matt and Neil's room

“The method of ‘whispering’ the incantation or charm is reminiscent fo the practices we find in Russian folk magic. The whispering technique also has the advantage of accessing the charm in a more concrete and physical manner, where the breath uttering the spell can be blown in a specific direction. For example, the breath is commonly blown into a glass of water or alcohol, which is then drunk by the client or applied onto an object. The magical force is thus transferred from the mind and mouth of the magician into a specific target which is imbued with its healing or harming power.”

Via Mountain Rose Herbs  2 cups dried elderberries 4 cups cold water 2-3 dried ginger root 1 cinnamon stick 1 cup honey 1 cup vodka or brandy 1.Combine berries and herbs with cold water in pot to boil 2.Reduce heat and allow to simmer. 3.Remove and allow to sit for one hour. 4. Strain berries with cheese cloth. 5.One liquid has cooled, stir in honey. 6.Add vodka or brandy if wanting to increase shelf life. 7.Bottle in a sterilized jar. Many parts of the elder (flower, bark, and berry) are used globally to help maintain healthy immune systems. Especially with the cold season upon us, this is an daily habit to help boost in times where immune may be low. There are many ways to take a daily dose of elderberry, but my favorite is through syrup (I often mix it with fire cider in the morning to balance out one another). The syrup can be taken by the spoonful, on pancakes or oatmeal, or diluted in water.

Soften Your Enemies Spell
Tumblr media
Sweeten That Soul Spell
Paper
Black pen
2 pink rose petals
Pinch of salt
Write your name and underneath your foes name. Place rose petals and salt in the middle of the paper, these things represent harmony and cleansing and will calm antagonism. Fold the paper until it won’t fold anymore. Place on the table and light a yellow candle next to it. Say “Angels bless this soul. Make our union pleasant. Calm their disposition. Evil thoughts be absent. So mote it be.” Leave the candle to burn out.

One thing that’s important to me is history: the Christian women who were killed for their herbal and medicinal crafts, and the knowledge that was lost or driven into “evil” disrepute due to men of power trying to eliminate the threat of women with knowledge.
Hey, Christian Witches,
If I were to write a book about Christian Witchcraft, would you be interested and if so what topics or things would you want to see discussed?
Let me know! I would love to have a conversation about it!

DIY Gifts for Your Witchy Friends
You want to get your bffl the perfect magical gift, but you’re no basic witch: you can’t just buy any pack of incense and call it a day! For those of you that want to imbue a little magic into your festive gifting, here’s our list of DIY ideas for the holidays and all year round.
1.     Perfume. Fragrance is always a great gift option, but why not make it more personal and blend the scent yourself? This is also a great option because it allows you to easily add some magic based on the ingredient correspondences. Try out one of these ideas and then charge your creation under the full moon!
2.     Black Bath Bomb. We’ve all seen the hypnotizing black bath bomb that took over the internet, but what better way to add extra magical umph then to make it yourself? Give a go at either this recipe or this one for the perfect bath to banish negative energy. Add an essential oil of your choice for even more magic.
3.     Incense Cones. Just because you’re not buying a pack of incense doesn’t mean you have to forgo the idea entirely. Making incense means more magic when burned then store-bought, and now you can customize it to your receiver’s needs. Use this recipe as a guide but use your own ground herbs to target what this witch needs more of in their life (hint: its probably cleansing!).
4.     Salve or Balm. Every witch loves a gifted salve because it means they don’t have to make it. These make particularly great gifts for those friends who want something practical and useful in addition to being cute (looking at you, earth signs). A great compilation of recipes can be found here.
5.     Gem Soap. It looks as pretty as a crystal, but has an everyday use, too! Make a big batch with this recipe to give to all the bath witches in your life and all the witches with the swoon-worthy gem collections. Hell, give them to all the witches in your life because they’re so absolutely adorable!
6.     Bath Melts. Especially around the holidays, bath melts are great because they deliver much needed moisture to dry, irritated skin. This recipe, made with milk, honey, and almond oil, could easily be charged to attract prosperity and therefore makes a great gift for any struggling witches out there.
7.     Smoke Cleansing Sticks. This one is for the purist friend who likes the traditional (they probably read all of Cunningham). Why reinvent the wheel when you can just give it a seasonal twist? Personal favorite of this list is the thyme and cinnamon bundle because it just screams holiday energy.
8.     Reading Runes. While runes are typically inscribed with the Norse alphabet, why not give a version you know they don’t have with a moon phase update? Not only are they the cutest ever, but you can ascribe your own meanings! Note: the original link is under construction but general instruction can be found here.
9.     Body Butter. A charged body oil post bath magic can be heavenly but it sure is messy. Upgrade your fellow witch’s ritual experience by making them a fun whipped body butter instead. This recipe uses hibiscus tea, which would be perfect for attracting love, but switch in lavender tea for protection or ginger tea for confidence.

Basics of Kitchen and Cottage Witchcraft
Tumblr media
Kitchen witches believe that the kitchen is a sacred place where all of the magick happens. They focus on the use of edible ingredients and kitchen tools.  A cottage witch is a witch that brings magick into the house and are protectors of the hearth and home. They bring cheer and warmth to every room they enter. Their focuses are on the family, home, and daily needs. Both the cottage and Kitchen witch believe that by honoring the home it honors the Gods and Goddesses. They bring magick into everyday life and daily chores.
Ways a Kitchen and Cottage witch can bring magick into a home:
Create a kitchen altar
Stock your shelves with herbs and spices
Bring maximum feng-shui to your home
Keep the home physically and spiritually clean
Paint the house walls in colours that bring happiness, warmth, and coziness
When making a sandwich put mustard or mayo sigils on it
When making meals add herbs that correspond to your magickal needs
Decorate the home according to the sabbats
Brew some special teas
Make your own candles, salves, and tinctures.
Make offerings to Gods and Goddesses of hearth and home.
Ask your deities to keep your house safe and healthy.
Create your own recipes and add your own touch of magick to them
Put intent into everything you cook and clean
Make an incantation or short song to sing while you stir.
Inscribe your wooden spoons with sigils
Carve your wooden shelves with sigils - carve them at the bottom of the cupboard to remain discreet
Craft oils, incense, soaps, potions, and salves.
Make herbal remedies
Chant while cleaning or preparing a meal
Use numerology in their practices by the number of times they stir or the number of times they knead dough.
During the mead moon, brew mead with magickal intent.
Decorate the home with your own art or art done by your children, poems, knits, woodcraft’s, paintings, quilts, diy’s, or tapestries.
Enchant your crafts.
Use weather magick, candle magick, ribbon charms, and anything else used to add magick to your home.
Honour the ancestors.
Bless the home.
Start a garden and will it with organic and in season fruits and vegetables.
Charge herbal oils by moonlight or candlelight to heal, bless the home or to clean and protect the woodwork she polishes with it.
Scatter charm bags, witches ladders, chimes, and bells around the home.
Grow an indoor jungle
Learn herbal remedies to treat MINOR injuries
If you work with meat make sure to thank and honour the animal it came from.
Sing or play music to raise good vibrations
Bake and cut cookies in shapes to match your intentions
Provide someone in need with a free meal
Volunteer at a local soup kitchen to bring magick into it
What their altar may display:
Candles
Tools used for sacred use
Four elements
Statues of the honoured deities
A doll weaved of corn
A kitchen witch’s altar is often displayed in the corner of the kitchen and is not permanent
Food made by the witch left as an offering
Some beliefs followed:
Magick is not used to inflict pain on others or block anyone’s free will
Believe in living simple lives
Believe in using organic items, products that aren’t animal tested, recycling, and composting.
Creativity is a form of devotion
Keep peace in the household
May the home always contain good food, good talk, and good company
Welcome guests into the home with open arms
Cottage and Kitchen witch superstitions/wives tales:
Stir clockwise to bring good luck
Never stir with a knife as it is considered bad luck
Place a piece of amethyst near the stove top to make the food cooked there tastes better
If an apple bursts in the oven while baking it means good luck is on its way for the cook

Dropping silverware means that company is coming
Spilling water on the table cloth means that rain is on its way
Seeing a spider in the house is good luck, killing it is bad luck

When your cupboard doors are left opens it means that people are gossiping about you
If a broom drops across the doorway it means that you will soon head off on a journey

Catholic folk magic tip #6
Some will be practical, some will be magical.  - Research novena’s of your saint(s). So when you work with a saint/work with several saints, it would do you good to understand them through their life. What they stood for. Literally, getting to know someone. And it can be- especially when you’re new to it -uncertain where to start/how to make contact. Novenas can help here. Not only can you see the practical way of petitioning, how their patronage is effective, but it can also give you an idea how to put together a personalized prayer. Perhaps even on how to decorate their shrine.  - And it would be good to collect the novena’s in a book. So you don’t have to search endlessly for them. (just saying!) - Signing the cross over virtually anything; from blessing, to charms, to spell-work, to candles, is never a bad idea. - When buying candles/tea-lights (especially those) pay attention to how long they +/- burn. It usually says it on the box/bag they come in. I like to use the longer burning ones for novena’s, or spell-work that requires a steady source. The shorter ones are good for the same thing, but only shorter of course. It just comes down to preference. - Folklore from your own culture, family and region is usually the best way to work magic. You know it, it knows you, and voila, you are good to go! - Prayer is always an acceptable offering when it comes to ancestors.  - If you can’t over-power someone/something, you need to be smart. And the smart thing is to wait, and observe.  - If you want to clean your windows, and give them some extra cleanliness at the same time, add some holy water to it. This with a blessing for whatever you want it to do. Especially windows where a lot of strangers/passers-by walk by, could benefit from this.  You can find the previous Catholic folk magic tip *here* That’s me for now. Hope you are all well.  - Toverij & Spokerij

Some of my favorite Bible verses for Protection
“He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.” -‭‭Job‬ ‭5:19-20, 24‬ ‭(general protection)
“And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, Lord, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.” -Numbers‬ ‭10:35‬ ‭(protection while traveling)
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” -Psalms‬ ‭18:2‬ ‭(protect home esp. from burglars)
“He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.” -Psalms‬ ‭18:48‬ ‭(protection from violence)
“Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah. Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.” -‭‭Psalms‬ ‭54:1-5‬ ‭(protection and reversals)
“Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.” -‭‭Psalms‬ ‭61:1-4‬ ‭(home protection)
“There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah. Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.” -Psalms‬ ‭76:3-4‬ ‭(protection esp. against magic attack)
“The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” -Psalms‬ ‭121:5-8‬ ‭(protection esp. while traveling)
“Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” -Psalms‬ ‭124:6-8‬ ‭(protection against entrapment)
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” -Psalms‬ ‭127:3-5‬ ‭(protection for children in mojo bags)
There are more but these are my favorite. If you’d like to know ways you can use these in your practice let me know! Feel free to reblog with your favorite verses to use.

Can we have a more nuanced conversation about essential oils, please?
I know I’m asking for the moon here, but hear me out.
“Essential oils” is a very broad category. Some essential oils are pretty harmless, and others have to be used very carefully or they will do things like burn your lungs–as I discovered last spring when I put two drops of oregano essential oil instead of one in the steam bowl my doctor prescribed for a sinus infection.
It is tumblr gospel that you should not eat essential oils, but there have been clinical research studies done on the efficacy of lavender essential oil for the treatment of anxiety. When prescribed by a qualified healthcare provider, certain lavender essential oil capsules have been shown to be as effective at treating generalized anxiety disorder as benzodiazepine (eg. Xanax) without being addictive.
Because of the lack of side-effects, some integrative doctors are very quick to prescribe lavender essential oil capsules. (I know of three doctors who do this.) I was under a lot of stress a few months ago, and my doctor prescribed me lavender to help me deal with it and avoid falling into chronic anxiety, and it helped a lot. I had already been diffusing lavender essential oil and using it in my DIY bath products, and it wasn’t at all the same as the capsules my doctor gave me.
Now, let’s imagine for a minute that someone has been prescribed lavender by their doctor for anxiety or stress. Then they go on tumblr, and they read that you should never ever ever eat essential oils because you will DIE. That…is pretty stressful.
Essential oils can be fun to play with if you know what you’re doing, but they are also medicine: Talk to a qualified medical professional who is up on the latest research and knows how to use essential oils safely before you listen to people on tumblr including me thank you.

Bath ritual to stave off seasonal depression
Tumblr media
Bayleaves - ruled by Fire and the Sun, imparts protection and healing.
Rosemary - literally ditto, I’m stacking these bad boys.
Mint - imparts strength, is a traditional flavoring of Winter Solstice sweets and is tied to celebration and happiness during the dark winter months.
Dried herbs work as well, but I happen to have fresh plants in my outdoor herb garden that just won’t quit, even in this weather, which I feel imparts an additional benefit of endurance. I ground these together with epsom salts and steeped it into moonwater before mixing with my bath.
