Here’s what I think about the 2022 hellraiser movie.

The Cenobite designs are awsome. The Cenobite designs back in the day were limited due to the limitations of special effects at the time. Now, you have these intricate designs. Gruesome in a cool way.

The thing with the puzzle box knife thing is a mixed bag. On one hand, it makes the movie more gruesome, but on the other hand, the “if you get cut, the cenobites come”, sort of limits the story telling potential. Before it used to be “the Cenobites come after people who open the box, but sometimes they take someone else as a trade, and they never take people who open the box on accident or those who are pure of heart.” Which opened up more opportunities for more scenarios.

I like the new pinhead, except for one thing. Her voice didn’t seem like it fit her character. It kind of sounded like a YouTuber who goes on the internet and makes YouTube commentary videos or posts on twitter, albeit with some voice filtering. I know that she sounded like that because the actor that they picked was transgender, but I’ve just been conditioned to think of Internet personalities whenever I hear that type of voice since a lot of the people Ive heard with that voice. Maybe I think that the voice doesn’t fit her because, the people in real life who do a lot of murder/torture/violent acts in general usually have more traditional sounding voices. I think they should have gotten Kayleigh McKee to do the voice instead, she’s an awesome voice actor and can do both masculine and feminine and even gender neutral voice acting. No insult to the actor who played 2022 pinhead, she still did pretty good. The scene with the hooks was awsome.

Ok, guys, so here’s my plan for the future. From now on, I’m just gonna’ write a bunch of oneshots instead of long running stories. The ending of my webtoon, Doba will be soon, and 4 Real was just meant to be an episodic slice of life that could just end at any point.

Anyway, here’s some manga art I made.

EDIT: I will probably give 4-real an ending/complere it since I am invested in the story.
