I'm back in hospital again :0) been here since Friday (12th), was out trying to do a food shop and had the most crippling sudden headache, seized etc, which isn't great as I'm still in a neck brace for 6 more weeks. A manager had to call 999 and an ambulance took me away.

Had multiple ECGs, they've all came back as abnormal, had an angiography- the suspected left atrial enlargement was confirmed.

Had a head CT and I have a small brain bleed (haemorrhage), so have been admitted these past few days, doctors mentioned the injury I had on the 17th which resulted in me breaking my neck could have escalated this. (Fun fact on the 17th March my head was never checked over, they only did a cervical CT to check my vertebra, so an investigation has opened). Thankfully they are confident it can be treated with medication and no invasive surgery is needed.

My god I am so tired with all this medical stuff, the cardiology and neurology specialist referrals can't come any sooner.

So I'm not the one to ask for help so I've been very hesitant on sharing, but got some news last week that I will be homeless by June (and no, this is not an awful april fools joke, I am panicking here).

Some of you in the vulture culture community know last week and a bit ago I had an accident resulting in losing consciousness, breaking my neck, and experiencing a seizure for the first time. I've been having ongoing brain issues (we removed a lot of cerebral fluid in December that was causing increased pressure and testing the fluid to rule out infection, diagnosed with IIH), and last month I've been having heart issues.

Referrals have been made to a cardiology specialist, as well as the first fit clinic. But it's looking like I will probably have to go private to get listened to / get the care I need ASAP. Couple with the fact I will be homeless by June, it's a really terrifying situation. I have contacted local councils, independent living schemes, shelter, private landlords etc and feel like I've been let down. I'm awaiting a doctors appointment with a NHS advisor on the 10th, where I'll be showing them my list of resources I've used, and to see if they are able to help find anything.

I reluctantly made a justgiving page, on the advice of my friends, and while I hate asking for help, I am honestly quite scared and uncertain about my future.

medical tw: small update

I'm honestly blown away with the amount of shares, donations and support you guys have shown for the fundraiser (Tumblr post can be found here if you want to reblog it! And please feel free to share the justgiving link to other socials like X, Bsky, and Facebook!). I don't really know how to put things into words!! We're already at 12% raised!! I'm hoping to add a few updates to the justgiving page soon, I have a few upcoming hospital appointments and I'm hoping the cardiology and seizure referrals call back soon.

Since the accident I don't feel like I haven't had the chance to relax yet, its been constant contacting, calling, emailing resources for disabled people at risk of homelessness. Doctors have taken me off of one heart medication and put me on another that's designed for patients with heart failure (Ivabradine), so will be seeing how that goes.. still awaiting the cardiology referral so we don't know exactly whats wrong with my heart yet, so all these new medications are a little daunting.. Had a great day yesterday when a council emailed me to contact another charity, and then the charity told me they could not help and to contact the council, the same people who told me to contact the charity, it feels like an endless loop at the moment.

anyway, I'll continue to contact resources, as well as skull post here and work on the skull index, its one thing that's been keeping me calm at the moment!

European Badger (Meles meles) with an absolute nasty break and bone infection. This particular individual was found 12ft from an active badger set deep in woodland off a busy motorway in Cambridgeshire and rather underweight, which could possibly suggest this infection may have prevented this guy from eating (or even sepsis) and resulted in its death.

Fun fact: I was out Geocaching when I found this guy!

ID tag sorting for a small selection of skulls (new tags for some skulls to keep my catalog/log book of specimens up to date, I procrastinated it for a year lol), measurements and weight for the skull index (public resource of various skulls and such website I'm working on that's live), best thing I can do while I recover from a multiple cervical vertebrae fracture (broke my neck last Tuesday lol), too uncomfortable to sit at my desk so the bed it is.

does anyone have the link to the masterpost by another vulture culture user about "ethicality" in vc, it had a list and summaries of different sources of what could be deemed "ethically sourced " varying between roadkill, hunted, nature found etc! I seem to forgot to give it a like and add it to my resources!
