Sitting on the couch she rested her head on Jake’s shoulder with a 𝐃𝐄𝐄𝐏 sigh. Rolling her eyes, she pecked Jake’s cheek as she held onto his hand, as much as she was 𝐔𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 nighty percent of the time, she was relaxed when she was with him. Just the pair of the, 𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐄 in their own place. “You don’t have to 𝐏𝐀𝐔𝐒𝐄 on my account.”

“Oh joyous day.”  Jake started,  even before Amy continued to paint the picture of an extremely cool hostage case he missed out on.  What was it about apartment stores?  The size?  The resources? 

He was picturing it but was pulled back to the present moment with the gentle pressure of a kiss to his cheek.  “I’d pause for you any day Ames.”   Jake squeezed her hand, unpausing the DVR with the other.

i got seriously bit at work last week and yesterday i got bit on my pointer finger making typing and life a little more interesting.

more as soon as i stop feeling like actual shit. im going to st louis next week to have a little vacation with my mom.

“I’m not worried.”  Jake shrugged, letting Amy open windows systematically while Charles and Terry started fanning with binders.  “Not our first rodeo.” He was grateful that the Captain was at a meeting and out of the precinct.  “We break like one appliance a month.”

“Weird thing to brag about, man.” Terry intervened.

“Not just spicy food.”  He remembered the time he tried to straighten his hair with Amy’s straightening iron and couldn’t hold a pen for a week after. “Not just spicy food..” Jake said this mostly to himself, completely oblivious to the smoke in the precinct and Scully and Hitchcock arguing over the charred remains of the garlic bread like starving seagulls.

The quick, nonsensical response was both comical and just plain concerning. Rosa rolled her eyes. “Oh, man. You’re worse off than I had imagined.” She took Amy’s chair for the moment, so she could sit across from Jake and take the file he had been sleeping on. “What’s so important that it kept you here all night?”

Jake took a sip from his ice cold coffee and instantly regretted it, twisting up his face in a grimace.  “I thought it was just a B&E turned homicide but...” He trailed off, clearly not all the way lucid.

“That’s its job?  To be on fire?”  He offered weakly, standing back to let Charles and Terry freak out for approximately 3 minutes before extinguishing the flames.

“ i know , i know , but jake i still give you a time and i like to be home by then . ” she laughed softly , dropping her large tote bag and shrugged off her blazer . “ yeah there was just a hold up that i needed to help calm down . but everyone is alright , roza and terry are back at the 99 finishing stuff off . my paperwork was already done . ” a sense of pride on herself as she sat down beside her fiancé .

“hol’ up, what was the hold up?”  a weak excuse for a play on words, but jake was a little snappier at the 99 after 2 coffees, not in his unwind before bed time.  he paused the DVR, waiting for his fiancé to join him on the couch.

“oooof course it was.”  she was one of the few people that could elicit both overwhelming pride and and annoyance all at once in jake. he unpaused, not before taking amy’s hand in his own and squeezing it gently.
