Made To Be His (An Emily Young drabble)

Emily knew Sam loved her. He gave her anything she needed, anything she could want. He looked at her like she'd hung the moon and stars. She was in love with him. Sam loved Emily. Emily was in love with Sam. Sam was in love with Leah.

Emily wasn't stupid, and love hadn't made her blind. As much as Sam had wanted her, he hadn't just forgotten Leah. Although Leah didn't, or maybe refused to, see how Sam's gaze softened when she walked into the room, Emily did. Emily saw how his eyes brightened when she told a joke or was affectionate with Seth. How his voice changed when he spoke about her. How he sometimes called out for her in his sleep.

Maybe she deserved this. Maybe this was the result of stealing Sam away in the first place. Of not trying harder to stay away from him. Of not telling Sam he had to be more gentle with Leah when breaking up with her. Of asking Leah to be her bridesmaid. Destiny tied her heart to him. The universe made her to be his. So why was he still Leah’s?

Sam loved Emily irrevocably, but he wasn't in love with her.
