Table of Contents Here
Scotty looked up at exactly the wrong moment. Jim made a joke and the whole table burst into laughter, including you. Your beautiful eyes crinkled up and your unapologetic smile bared your gleaming teeth. You simply shone.
Scotty couldn’t even bring himself to laugh when you laid your hand on Jim’s arm, steadying yourself as you calmed. Scotty’s heart clenched painfully.
And then there was Jim, that bastard, not that it was his fault, leaning in and laughing with you, tickled to make you smile so beautifully.
Scotty mumbled an excuse and stood, dropping his napkin on his tray and leaving the table at a steady stumble, trying to navigate through the pounding of blood in his ears.
The hallway rang with silence as the mess hall doors closed behind him. Scotty looked up and down the hall, completely lost. He’s walked every single hall of this wonderful ship with you on his arm and now… what’s a man to do without you? How could he possibly move on and find some semblance of peace when you were in there laughing like that with Kirk of all people? Captain Fucking Perfect Hair with all his goodman charm and warmth…
“Scotty?”

You were minding your own business, sitting at the hotel room’s desk typing up a report on the mission you all were wrapping up, when you felt a hand duck under your chin and tilt your face up and to the side. You glare a little bit at Ethan, who is examining your face.
“Do you mind?” you asked, mildly annoyed.
“You’ve been crying,” Ethan states. At this, you jerked your head out from his grasp and turn back to your computer.
“You don’t have to point it out.” Biting your lip, you add “Is it that obvious?”
“Benji noticed.”
Sighing, you hid your face in your hands. “So it’s super obvious. Well, at least he noticed something about me...but why couldn’t it have been, oh, I don’t know, how nice I look in blue?”
“Actually he likes you best in red.”
“Seriously?!” you asked excitedly, peeking out at Ethan between your fingers. He’s always teasing you about your crush on Benji.
Just then Benji and Luther returned to the room.
“You guys ready to go home? Brandt’s waiting in the van,” Luther said cheerfully, ruffling your hair before grabbing his suitcase.
“God, yes,” you said, slamming your laptop shut and jumping up from your chair. You went to grab your bag but Benji reached it before you could. “Oh, you don’t have to -” you started, but he cut you off.
“Don’t worry about it.” He smiled at you and you had to fight your face from flushing.
The rest of the men left the room while you gathered up your phone and its charger from the night stand and Benji shut the door behind them.
“I actually wanted to talk to you, [Name],” Benji said softly.
You glance between him and the door. “You realize we’re in a hotel with paper thin walls, right?”
“Then let’s talk quietly, away from the door.” He gently touched your elbow and led you to the window on the opposite side of the room.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, looking up into his blue-gray eyes.
“That’s what I wanted to ask you, actually.”
You shift uncomfortably. “Nothing’s wrong, I’m fine.”
“Come on, [Name].”
“I don’t want to talk about it, Benji.”
“Then is there something I can do to make you feel better?”
“You can lose when we play Mario Kart on the plane.” He rolls his eyes at this but it also earns you a slight chuckle.
“But seriously, [Name], you know that all of us would do just about anything for you, right?”
“Yeah,” you say, smiling at him.
“Good,” he says, and he moves like he’s going to hug you, but just gives you an awkward shoulder pat instead.
“Thanks, Benji. Now let’s get out of here before Brandt takes off without us.”

❝ any minute now, she’s going to figure out i’m the love of her life. ❞ for benji please ? ^^ love your writing by the way!! your m:i content is top notch!
A/N: Part of Benji x techie!reader! You can read the first instalment here.
Benji thinks he’s being subtle about staring at you from across the room, but Ethan thinks he’s being incredibly obvious. He’s not sure how you haven’t looked up from your spot at the desk and seen him creepily staring yet, and he’s not sure he wants you to – for Benji’s sake.
Ever since Benji had met you, the new techie, he’d fallen head over heels. The lunch that Ethan had forced the two of you to go to the day you’d met was a success. Benji had spent the rest of the day talking about you to Ethan, gushing about how amazing you were. How smart, how talented, how gorgeous. For a second there, Ethan had regretted setting it up.
Almost a month later, however, Ethan was just wishing that Benji would do something about his crush other than staring at you across the room. Ethan sighs and looks away from Benji, moving to keep reading up on the new target on his laptop.
He’s almost finished reading the page when Benji sighs loudly.
“Any minute now, she’s going to figure out I’m the love of her life,” Benji hums, resting his chin on his hand. He’s supposed to be working, yet he hasn’t got anything done since he’s sat down in the same room as you.
Ethan raises an eyebrow. “Have you been thinking that since we sat down?”
Benji sits back and clears his throat, finally looking away from you, albeit regretfully. “No. That’s the first time, actually,” he lies through his teeth. Ethan can hear it in his tone and see it on his face. He grins.
“Right, sure,” he hums, smiling over at Benji. “Maybe you should, uh, give her a nudge, yeah?”
Benji’s face looks like Ethan has just suggested the worst possible thing he ever could. He furrows his eyebrows and his jaw almost drops to the floor. Giving you a nudge? That had to be the worst idea. You were first and foremost friends. If you happened to have feelings for Benji like he had for you, then he’d let you act on them before he did.
He watches as you stand up across the room and grab some files from your desk. You walk out from behind your desk and walk towards the door, though, before you go, you catch Benji’s eye and give him a smile that sends the butterflies in his stomach haywire and brings a slight blush to his cheeks. He smiles in reply, trying to seem as casual as possible.
Ethan tries his hardest not to laugh. He thinks its sweet, the way Benji is crushing on you. And he can see that you’re clearly crushing on him too. He’s not sure how long he can go on watching the tennis match of smiles between you with nothing coming of it.
Sighing, Ethan clears his throat, causing Benji to look over at him.
“If you don’t ask her to dinner when she comes back into this room, I’m going to do it for you,” Ethan threatens. He knows that if he doesn’t push Benji, he’ll never act on it. That in twenty-five years, he’ll still be bugging Ethan about what he should have done instead of what he did.
Benji gapes at Ethan in shock. “I–what? You can’t– you–”
“I can, and I will,” Ethan continues. “Come on, Benji. You really think she doesn’t already think you’re the love of her life? Did you see the way she smiled at you just then? Just ask her!”
Benji furrows his eyebrows. Is Ethan right? Do you think that he’s the love of your life? Or is Ethan just playing…? He shakes his head. Screw it. The second you walk in the room again, he’s going to get up and go and ask you out to dinner. He doesn’t know where, he doesn’t know when. But he knows that he’s going to do it.
And he does.

uhm “I’m not letting you sleep on the floor, get up here.” with Benji on a mission with the reader? something cute where they gotta pretend theyre married, that kinda situation ;))
+ Anon: "You’re not sleeping on the floor, get up here.“ With reader and benji on a mission, pretending to be married. romantic/sexual tension between these two dorks until they both need to sleep and Benj being a gentleman.
A/N: I don’t think there’s much romantic/sexual tension in this, and it’s not the best thing I’ve ever written… but I’m posting it anyway because I’ll just overthink it if I don’t. So here.
While you’re showering in the hotel bathroom, Benji makes himself a bed on the floor consisting of a blanket he found in one of the cupboards, two couch pillows and two other cushions he found on top. He’s standing at the foot of it, looking quite proud of his creation, when you wander out of the bathroom, dressed in your pyjamas.
It’s only the first day of the mission where the two of you have to pretend to be a married couple, and having a hotel room that contained only one bed was part of the mission. Even though the two of you weren’t really working when you were in the hotel room, Ethan had wanted to make the relationship seem as real as possible. Which meant one bed.
“Oh, man, that was the best shower I’ve ever had,” you mutter, wandering over to the actual bed in the room and sitting down on the edge of it. “I think I’m gonna steal the shower head.”
Benji chuckles and sits down on the arm of the couch. “Yeah, it is a nice shower, I’ll give you that,” he agrees. He glances over at the clock above the bed. 10:47pm. Bedtime. “Anything else we need to get organised tonight for tomorrow? Otherwise I might head off to sleep.”
You think it over for a second before shaking your head. “No, I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure it’s all organised. We need to be up early, though, so I’m gonna set an alarm.”
He nods and moves to sit down on the couch pillow bed. “Right, well, then. I’ll see you in the morning!” He smiles. “Sleep well.”
He’s about to lay down when you furrow your eyebrows and notice the makeshift bed on the ground. “Uh, Benji, what are you doing?” You ask, confused. “There’s a bed here, you know…?
“I know,” Benji looks over at you. “But I’m letting you have that to yourself. I don’t want to intrude. I’ll be fine on the floor. This is actually quite comfortable. These couch pillows are pretty good to lay on,” he explains, smiling. He pats the pillows when he finishes speaking.
You, however, are having none of it. In reply, you tap the other side of the bed. “No, I’m not letting you sleep on the floor, get up here,” you say.. Benji opens his mouth to say something else, but you cut him off. “I’m not having any of it, Benjamin Dunn, now get your ass up here and in this bed before I drag you up here. You’re sleeping in this bed with me.”
Benji sighs, and then laughs softly before standing up and walking around to the other side of the bed. He lays down against the pillows and turns to you, raising an eyebrow. “Happy?”
“Ecstatic,” you grin in reply. “You’ll be much more comfortable up here. And it’ll be good for the mission, you know? If we can sleep in the same bed, it’ll be more believable when we’re pretending. Didn’t Ethan say that being close makes it seem more real?”
He nods. “Yeah, something like that,” Benji hums. Truly, he doesn’t mind sleeping in the same bed as you. Even being in the same room as you makes his heart beat a little faster. Sleeping on the floor would have been easier. But here he is, sitting next to you in the same bed. About to sleep beside you.
Benji clears his throat and slips underneath the covers. At this point, he can only hope that he won’t end up accidentally spooning or cuddling you in the middle of the night. Because even though he’d like to do that, and even though Ethan said that being close makes it more real, he’s not up for embarrassing himself like that.
“Well… goodnight,” he smiles.
You smile back over at him. “Sleep well, Benji,” you mutter. “Love you, husband.”
Benji laughs. “Love you too, wife.”
He turns over, burying his head in the pillow so you can’t see him blush.
