New Post has been published on http://seounion.net/seo/how-to-build-private-blog-networks-with-4-steps/
How to build Private Blog Networks with 4 steps
Why people build Private Blog Networks?
No matter what others say but PBNs work like charm! People do build their own PBN to give link to their main website in order to get high rankings. That is the only reason people build it. Also, having own resources for link building has its own advantages, such as you have all the controls over your backlink profile, whenever you want to do any changes like links, anchor text or anything, you can do it at your ease.
How to build a Private Blog Network?
So now you know the need of building PBNs. Lets learn how to build in a better way. Basically there are 4 steps to follow to build the network:
Buying domains.
Hosting the domains.
Building Content, Relevant Niches and on Target
Building backlinks for these blogs.
1. Choosing a Domain Name
We will be utilizing expired domain names for our network, domains that have existing back-links and domain authority. Remember we are creating a high quality network of sites, so the domain names themselves should also be decent.
We don’t want to be buying domains that are obviously junk, or ones that have porn or pharma type words in them. We don’t want anything that will make the domain name stand out negatively, and I personally only ever consider .com, .net or .org extensions, as well as country specific ones if they come up and you can register them.
Where to Find Expired Domains?
Visit Expired Domains and sign up for an account. These guys publish daily lists of domains that have just expired, and you can use their filters to find a good domain.
Do a search for all the .com domains that have dropped in the past 24 hours with 100 links minimum. Here is a snapshot of the settings I use.
On the second tab of the search form, make sure you select “only available Domains” as there is no point spending time researching a domain if it is unavailable.
I generally then order the results by the DA (Domain Authority) column, which show how authoritative Moz thinks the site is. You’ll want to look out for domains that have a DA of above 20 and more than 10 linking root domains.
The higher the DA of your blog network’s sites, the better for ranking your money sites!
Have a scan down the list and pick out a few that take your fancy. No need to spend too much time worrying about the actual text of the domain name, it’s the domain authority that we are after, not a catchy URL. Once you have picked a few head on over to Open Site Explorer to check the DA of the domains you are looking at.
Remember to check both the domain.com and www.domain.com versions of the domain you are interested in.
The higher the DA the better (it’s far more important than Pagerank, which hasn’t been updated in months, and is basically dead).
UPDATE: Google has confirmed that they will no longer be updating the toolbar page rank, so as mentioned above it’s properly dead, so feel free to ignore it.
You’ll ideally be looking for domains with a DA of 15 or higher. Once you find a good strong domain, you need to check out the back-link profile. Checking the existing back-links can be done easily at Ahrefs, Majestic or Open Site Explorer.
This is a very important step, and you’ll want to make sure that the back-link profile is genuine and not a load of crap, as a crap back-link profile could cause the domain to be penalized, and we don’t want that.
This method of finding a domain name requires a little bit of effort, but can pay off. If you are short on time and don’t mind paying up for domain names, then you should look at the following resources, which will potentially save you time, but will cost more.
Domain Jawa
Domain Boy
Hammerhead Domains
godaddy auctions
private sellers on BHW, WF, DP etc – but be extra vigilant
Please be wary about buying domains from Godaddy Auctions, not only are the auctions very well subscribed (pushing the price higher) but it has recently come to my attention that Blackhat guys are sending extortion emails to people asking for money to keep their domains private or they will be forwarded to various members at Google.
From what I have heard the scammer watches Godaddy Auctions, waits for a domain to be won and for a new site to be placed on that domain, and then they email the owner.
Don’t forget though no matter where you buy your domains from, you have to exercise caution, and perform your due diligence checks, otherwise you are just wasting your time and money.
When you purchase the domain name, you’ll want to enable whois privacy. This is an extra step required to ensure the anonymity of your blog network.
If you are purchasing an available domain, then I can whole-heartedly recommend Namecheap. The domain itself will be about $8 and they include free domain whois privacy for the first year, which is a great deal.
2. Hosting the domains
After buying the domains, say 10 domains to start with, they need to be hosted as well. Here is one thing you need to take care of and that is, you must host all the domains on different C class IP. Suppose during Google’s manual review, if they find 10 links to your main website from 10 blogs hosted on same C-class IP, then it raises a red flag and you might be caught and Google can de-index your whole blog network.
Many SEO hosting companies offer separate C class IP but there is also a problem because most of PBN owner get hosting from this kind of SEO hosting companies and Google can figure out a large amount of backlinks going out from particular C class IP. So in such case, I would advise to host each domain with different hosting providers and it’s good if the servers are from Different geo locations. Such as, 1 blog is hosted with abc hosting company, server location: Denmark, 2nd blog is hosted with xyz company, server location: USA and so on. If you do this way then there will not be any red flag from Google and you will be doing great with your own PBN.
Blocking Bots to Protect your Sites
There are many back link discovery services out there that can reveal your money site back-links to your competitors. You can use a premium plugin like Spyder Spanker, but you can achieve the main blocks with a simple bit of code in your .htaccess files (if you have modrewrite installed and enabled on your server).
If you would prefer to use a plugin, I have found a very good one called Link Privacy which is completely free and is working for me very well at the moment. I’d suggest this is the best solution to protect your back-links.
If you prefer to use the .htaccess method, the code is below.
SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*rogerbot.* bad_bot SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*exabot.* bad_bot SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*mj12bot.* bad_bot SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*dotbot.* bad_bot SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*gigabot.* bad_bot SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*ahrefsbot.* bad_bot SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*sitebot.* bad_bot <Limit GET POST HEAD> Order Allow,Deny Allow from all Deny from env=bad_bot </Limit>
This will stop the back link checkers like Ahrefs, Open Site Explorer and Majestic SEO from spidering and indexing your PBN sites in their index.
3. Building Content, Relevant Niches and on Target
Because we are looking to actually build real sites, you’re going to want real content. The content should be unique and relevant to your niche. If your money site is all about red apples, then your blog network should all be related to red apples in some way.
You should try and keep the sites that you build for your network as generic as possible, so that they remain relevant, but not too niche that you can only ever use them once.
The content doesn’t need to be stunning quality but it needs to be decent and provide some value to the visitors, so we definitely don’t want to be publishing spun crap on our sites.
For content, I use a variety of sources including iWriter (where a decent writer creating a 500-700 word article will cost you about $3-$5), oDesk, or from someone offering content generation in the BHW marketplace.
Recently I have been using HireWriter to very good effect, I always pick an article length of 300-500 words and tell the writer to make sure that they write the full 500 words – this means you can get an article written for about $2.75 (the quality has been excellent by the way, much better than the writers on iWriter) – and if you utilize the introductory offer of 25% extra for your first deposit, it brings the price down to about $2.20 for 5-600 words.
Linking To Your Money Sites
Each PBN site should only link to your money site ONCE in an appropriate article (one that is both relevant to your PBN site and to your money site.
Ideally you structure your PBN site with sticky posts on the homepage (full text) so you get the benefit of an in content, in context link.
Make It Look Real
Normal sites don’t just have five 500 word articles, they have a mix of stuff, so try and replicate this by not only varying the length of article that you are ordering, but buy publishing shorter posts yourself. Ask your writer for a 200 word article as well as an 800 word one.
While you are waiting for your articles to be written, create some of those inspirational quote images, and publish a couple of them – along with a short summary. It would also help to blog about a couple of YouTube videos that are relevant to your niche just to keep everything looking natural.
Of course, to save money you can completely write all your own articles if you so desire, but this method of outsourcing will definitely save you time.
4. Building backlinks for these blogs.
1. Forum Profiles
I put this strategy here first because it’s the one I’d be most worried about, based on the latest trends.
Be cautious.
This strategy involves adding links that point back to your site (with the appropriate anchor text) on profiles of accounts in authoritative forums.
Like with blog networks, this strategy works way too well (I’ve tried it myself) and doesn’t add any value to anything whatsoever. At least with article marketing and the tools related to it, you’re publishing articles on sites that have visitors that could read those articles and benefit by learning more from your niche site.
Forum profiles are just spammy, “hidden” links.
I remember reading an SEO research article by Glen Allsop where he inspected the links pointing to some of the top websites in some of the most profitable niches.
His conclusion: spammy profile links work.
Glen followed up by saying, “I think this is a real shame because there are sites which deserve to rank above these, but the Google algorithm is still very easy to manipulate.”
I agree, although if I were Google, these kinds of links would be the next to go.
I’m not going to tell you what to do – but remember, Google is on the prowl and you should think about how the links you’re building prove that your site is worth ranking.
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend doing any of this from this point forward.
2. Blog Commenting
Blog comments for SEO is typically associated with spam, but that’s because most people abuse it and use tools to automate the process.
Although comments from blogs are less powerful than they used to be, leaving comments that are helpful and add value to the post that you’ve read can be great both for link diversification and also for getting direct traffic too.
A link in the “website url” field is all one would need, and as far as nofollow vs. dofollow, to me – it doesn’t matter – it’s natural to have both.
3. Guest Posting
Guest posting is considered an “old school” form of link building, but it’s still one of the most powerful and more ethical methods available.
Some people I know use guest posting as their only strategy, to a great degree of success.
The issue is, with so many tools out there that seem to make backlinking “push-button easy”, methods like guest posting, which require a lot of hard work, have become less popular.
Maybe it’s time we start working for our rankings again.
The great thing about guest posting is that you can get links from highly authoritative sites, while getting in front of an audience that is perfectly suited for your content.
Guest posting for an authoritative blog that you own – sure, that’s what a lot of people do.
But guest posting for a niche site? Is that even possible?
It should be.
In obscure niches, it’s harder to find websites to publish on, so you may have to get a little creative with the type of articles you publish.
To me, any site that’s worth ranking should have an owner who has the ability to write (or research and write) a post that’s worthy on another website, and he or she should use that ability – if at all possible.
For some excellent advice about guest posting, check out Glen Allsop’s Ultimate Guide to Guest Blogging.
4. Become a Source
If you’re having trouble finding blogs to guest post on (or even if you’re not), how about flipping the switch and contacting those who are trying to find you instead?
There are several sites that bridge the gap between journalists looking for sources, and vice versa.
Often times, when a connection is made, a link back to your site is created. Furthermore, you might see a surge of traffic when their articles are published too.
Here is a shortlist of websites where you can signup (for free) to become a “source” and select from several different journalists and bloggers who seek information about a topic you might have a website about:
HARO (Help-a-Reporter-Out)
Flacklist
PRManna
Reporter Connection
5. Build Linkable Relationships
Let’s say you have a niche site about coffee. More specifically (just for the purposes of this example), it’s a site all about making French Press coffee.
Yummy.
You spend a good amount of time making your site the ultimate resource about French Press coffee. Your site has:
Amazing content dedicated to the several aspects of making French Press coffee. The techniques, the equipment, tips, the history – everything.
Gorgeous pictures that make the site fun to look at; and
Incredible videos demonstrating French Press coffee techniques and equipment.
Your site dominates all of the other French Press coffee sites out there, but it’s relatively new and you’re still working on building links to your site.
Side note: as much as possible, this is what you should aim for no matter what kind of linking strategy you want to pursue. Dominate is the key word.
At this point, you (or a virtual assistant) do some research and compile a list of all of the coffee blogs out there.
Maybe it’s as simple as typing “blogs: coffee” in Google.
Now, not only do you have a list of sites to potentially guest post on (and since you’re in a niche within a niche, your unique content and amazing site about French Press coffee might more widely considered), but you also have a list of sites where you can start to build a relationship with the owner.
Connect with them on Twitter.
Become an active fan of their Facebook Page.
Hook up with them on LinkedIn and Google Plus.
Leave thoughtful comments on their articles.
Send a very short but thoughtful email that asks for nothing in return.
Over time, you will get noticed – it’s inevitable.
As a blog owner myself who receives hundreds of comments, emails and messages a day – certain people do stand out and those are the people who I’m more likely to do favors for and potentially link to, or share.
A friend of mine who started a niche site a year ago quickly got to #1 in Google by developing relationships with the top players in his industry. He used his specialization within that niche to become someone who these top players could link to and talk about on their own sites.
Do you know the top players in your niche?
Again, for more obscure niches, you might have to be more creative, but even if you have a website about lipstick, if you have a website worth ranking you should be able to develop a relationship with some of the top make-up artist blogs and YouTube personalities, right?
6. Social Media
Short and sweet: all sites should be connected to social media accounts. It is known that SEO is becoming more social.
For niche sites, you might not have to keep them as active as you might with a more community-oriented authority blog, but if you’re building connections with players in the same niche that you’re in, these accounts could come in handy.
The issue I have with social media is that if Google is going to add things like +1’s, Shares, Like and Retweets into their algorithm, is there anything that can detect whether or not they are genuine?
I take notice of this because my security guard training site has recently been going back and forth at the top spot in Google the with a competitor that has an abnormally large number of Facebook likes (among other weird things). I’ll be talking more about this and why I’m not too worried in my March income report, but my point here is that if +1’s and likes and those sorts of things are added into the algorithm, we’re going to get to a point, again, where we feel like we need to pay for those things in order to keep up.

How to optimize for Wordpress with 9 steps
The WordPress engine is pretty efficient out of the box, but once you start loading plugins the performance and responsiveness of your site might go downhill. On top of that the consumption of resources might become too big, possibly leading to a suspension of your hosting account (especially if you use shared hosting).
Over the years I played with and tweaked my WordPress plugins trying to achieve a good performance level, and below you’ll find the tips I learned along the way:
1. Use a Cache Plugin
Serving cached versions of your pages is one of the most efficient ways to speed up your site and to reduce the CPU and memory consumption on your server. Also, if you are not using the W3TC plugin yet I highly recommend you switch to it, as it works much more efficiently than the other plugins available.
Caching drastically improves the load time of pages that do not change that often.
By enabling caching at your site, your code doesn’t keep generating the same page over and over again. This way the user experience is much better and your server can handle more traffic.
W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache and WP Fastest Cache are just a short selection of free WordPress plugins that provide different kind of caching e.g. page caching, database caching and object caching among others.
2. Use a Content Delivery Network
Whether you use a CMS like WordPress, Joomla, Magento, Drupal or a custom-made PHP or HTML site, I highly recommend configuring a Content Delivery Network (CDN).
A CDN is a distributed system of servers deployed in multiple data centers across the internet. When a client visits your site, static content like images and CSS files are served from the server that is geographically closest them so they are rendered much faster.
By the way, the load on your server is also drastically reduced thanks to a CDN.
CloudFlare is a free CDN and DNS provider among others. MaxCDN is also a great and affordable option to optimize the loading time of your site. They are both as good as they can get.
3. Disallow Indexing of WordPress scripts
You want Google and other search engines to crawl and index your blog pages but not the various PHP files of your WordPress installation. Open the robots.txt file in your WordPress home directory and add these lines to block the bots from indexing the backend stuff of WordPress.
User-agent: * Disallow: /wp-admin/ Disallow: /wp-includes/ Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/ Disallow: /wp-content/themes/ Disallow: /feed/ Disallow: */feed/
4. Change the Permalink Structure
Do not use the default Permalink structure of WordPress since it is bad for SEO. Go to Options -> Permalinks inside your WordPress dashboard and change your WordPress Permalink structure to something like:
Option 1. /%post_id%/%postname% Option 2. /%category%/%postname%/%post_id%/
5. How to optimize Categories to improve your SEO
Let’s see a few simple steps to improve your categories and get visits interested in the topics you write through the search engines. If you are doing well, a category can generate followers and even the need to create a sub-website with its own channel feed like the guys from Smashing Magazine with their WordPress category.
1. Create a good category strategy: first of all, take a paper and a pencil and think where your items fit. An excellent web design is useless if it is not navigable or easy for users. Imagine a wardrobe with drawers … and organize your items like socks, sweatshirts, jeans…
2. Search keywords for your categories. If the word “web design” is important to your industry, you should create a category with that name, and also it is much better if your URL contains the keyword (http://www.silocreativo.com/web-design/.) So, I recommend you use keywords for the title and the URL.
3. Create descriptions for your categories. Yes, I know this is the most boring part, but it is also one of the most important. It is not positive that Google sees your category page as a collection of articles tagged with that taxonomy.
4. Optimize the SEO of your categories: If you have installed the WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast (one of the WordPress plugin that we recommend you,) you will see how in the administration panel of each category you have several fields to optimize the meta-title and meta-description.
Be creative and write good descriptions containing keywords in character limit that make clear to the user what kind of items are stored on your categories.
5. Remove the / category / term from the URL of your categories.www.seounion.net/seo is friendlier than www.seounion.net/category/seo/, right? The first Google result is much cleaner. How do I do it? Well, go to the permalinks section, i.e., the permanent URLs, in the same WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast, and click on the option of removing the term from the URL.
6. Optimize Your Database Tables
As with any dynamic content management system, great part of the work your WordPress site does is related to getting, storing, removing and updating information on its database. That’s why optimizing your database tables can affect your site’s performance.
A nice plugin you can use for this purpose is WP-Optimize. It will remove your post revisions, clean your comments (e.g., spam and deleted ones), run optimization queries and so on.
7. Optimize your images
Images are the main culprit for slowing a website. Always optimize your images (especially those above 50KB) before uploading them to your website.
The optimal way of optimizing them is to use Photoshop or any other image manipulation software. Save images for web with image quality up to 60%.
You should also use progressive images for JPG files because progressive rendering of images provides a smoother user experience.
Please check the following two images, they look the same but the left one is non-optimized and is 80KB and the one to the right is optimized and it is only 18KB, 4 times smaller.
8. Delete Spam comments
We need to be extra careful with the wp_comments table. Counting takes a lot of time on big databases. Keeping thousands of spam comments in your database slow down your website. Keep deleting spam comments from your database. You can perform these queries to delete comments from your database.
DELETE FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘trash’ DELETE FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘spam’ DELETE FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘0’ DELETE FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘post-trash’
Although these are five queries but they will quickly remove the comments from the database. On the other hand if you want to count all the comments from your database then you can write these queries:
SELECT FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘trash’ SELECT FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘spam’ SELECT FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘0’ SELECT FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘post-trash’ SELECT COUNT FROM wp_comments
The last query will count all the comments from the database with in no time.
9. Optimizing CSS, Java scripts, PHP, etc.
Combine CSS files into one big CSS file as one 50KB file loads a lot faster than five 10KB files.
Combine Java scripts into one big file.
Reduce the number of dynamic PHP and HTTP calls (use sub domains to share the load).
Use external scripts instead of placing tons of code in your header.php file. This allows the browser to cache the script so it won’t have to read it for every other page.

New Post has been published on http://seounion.net/tutorials/how-to-install-nginx-1-6-0-from-source-on-centos-7/
How to install nginx 1.6.0 from source on CentOS 7
In this tutorial we will learn how to install nginx from source on CentOS 7 . Nginx has ability to handle more than 10,000 simultaneous connections with nearly 2.5 Mb of memory usage. In our previous post on installing nginx from source on CentOS/RHEL , we have already mention brief intro on Nginx.
Why we prefer installation of Nginx from source code
The only reason which we found that some module can only be installed with compilation method.
Follow the given below steps to install Nginx from source on CentOS 7
The steps are also applicable to RHEL 7 version.
Note: Login as root user in Server
Details : Nginx Version = 1.6.0 stable release Operating System = CentOS 7 O.S Arch = x86_64
Install EPEL repo
We will first install EPEL repo. At the time of writing, EPEL has version 7(beta) available. Hence, we are using the same repo
We suggest you to check once on EPEL repo site i.e http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/
Install EPEL repo with below given command
rpm -ivh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/beta/7/x86_64/epel-release-7-0.2.noarch.rpm
Install prerequisite packages
Install prerequisite packages require for Nginx installation
yum install gc gcc gcc-c++ pcre-devel zlib-devel make wget openssl-devel libxml2-devel libxslt-devel gd-devel perl-ExtUtils-Embed GeoIP-devel gperftools gperftools-devel libatomic_ops-devel perl-ExtUtils-Embed
Download Nginx source code
Download the latest available nginx source code from Nginx website
At the time of writing, Nginx version 1.6.0 was stable release. We suggest to always go for stable latest release.
Download by using wget command
wget nginx.org/download/nginx-1.6.0.tar.gz
Create nginx user
Create nginx user with nologin shell. This user will be used by Nginx Web Server .
useradd nginx usermod -s /sbin/nologin nginx
Compiling and installing Nginx
In this section, we will compile and install nginx from its source code. First, untar or extract the downloaded Nginx source package
tar -xvzf nginx-1.6.0.tar.gz
Change to extracted directory .In our case , nginx-1.6.0 directory extracted out.
cd nginx-1.6.0
You can find many available options and about their details by using command . We suggest you to read about all these options and run below given command . (It is part of learning)
./configure --help
Now we are using available options with configure script of Nginx . We will enable some modules at the time of compiling Nginx. Note: We highly recommend you to use ./configure --help command. It helps you a lot.
We have tried to enable almost all modules. You can also remove any module by removing it from this list.
./configure --user=nginx --group=nginx --sbin-path=/usr/sbin/nginx --conf-path=/etc/nginx/nginx.conf --error-log-path=/var/log/nginx/error.log --http-log-path=/var/log/nginx/access.log --with-rtsig_module --with-select_module --with-poll_module --with-file-aio --with-ipv6 --with-http_ssl_module --with-http_spdy_module --with-http_realip_module --with-http_addition_module --with-http_xslt_module --with-http_image_filter_module --with-http_geoip_module --with-http_sub_module --with-http_dav_module --with-http_flv_module --with-http_mp4_module --with-http_gunzip_module --with-http_gzip_static_module --with-http_auth_request_module --with-http_random_index_module --with-http_secure_link_module --with-http_degradation_module --with-http_stub_status_module --with-http_perl_module --with-mail --with-mail_ssl_module --with-cpp_test_module --with-cpu-opt=CPU --with-pcre --with-pcre-jit --with-md5-asm --with-sha1-asm --with-zlib-asm=CPU --with-libatomic --with-debug --with-ld-opt="-Wl,-E"
Now run
make && make install
Start Nginx service
After completion of compiling and installation. Now we will start nginx service by using given below command
/usr/sbin/nginx -c /etc/nginx/nginx.conf
Check status of Nginx
We can use ps command, it will show running process of Nginx
ps -ef|grep nginx
Stop Nginx
To stop nginx we will first get the PID of running nginx service by using command ps -ef|grep nginx. By using kill command we will stop the process of nginx
kill -9 PID-Of-Nginx
See the below given reference for Start/Status/Stop method for Nginx service
[root@localhost ~]# /usr/sbin/nginx -c /etc/nginx/nginx.conf [root@localhost ~]# [root@localhost ~]# ps -ef|grep nginx root 5071 1 0 07:13 ? 00:00:00 nginx: master process /usr/sbin/nginx -c /etc/nginx/nginx.conf nginx 5072 5071 0 07:13 ? 00:00:00 nginx: worker process root 5074 1879 0 07:13 pts/0 00:00:00 grep --color=auto nginx [root@localhost ~]# [root@localhost ~]# [root@localhost ~]# kill -9 5071 5072 [root@localhost ~]#
In above section, we can see PID no. 5071 and 5072 are running . Hence we killed it by using command kill -9 5071 5072
Add iptables rule for Nginx
Because it is webserver , by default it will run on port no. 80 i.e HTTP protocol. Hence, we will permit port no. 80 to be access from all.
Temporary adding iptable rule for HTTP
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
Permanently adding iptable rule for HTTP
Edit the file, /etc/sysconfig/iptables by using your favorite file editor. We use vi .
vi /etc/sysconfig/iptables
Now add the below given line at INPUT section of iptables
-A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
See below given screenshot, check the position of iptable rule for HTTP(port 80)
Now restart the iptables service
systemctl restart iptables
Check the all applied iptables rule list by using command
iptables -nL
Access Website from web browser
Now open the webbrowser (chrome, firefox, etc) and type the IP address of your Nginx web server. In my case, our ipaddress is 192.168.56.102
See the below given screenshot, it shows the default welcome page of Nginx

Landing Page Optimization, How to?
What is a Landing Page?
In the purest sense, a landing page is any web page that a visitor can arrive at or “land” on. However, when discussing landing pages within the realm of marketing and advertising, it’s more common to refer to a landing page as being a standalone web page distinct from your main website that has been designed for a single focused objective.
This means that your landing page should have no global navigation to tie it to your primary website. The main reason for this is to limit the options available to your visitors, helping to guide them toward your intended conversion goal.
We’ve organized everything to best simulate a visitor’s experience on a landing page from first click to final conversion.
To get the most out of this guide, please use each resource to focus on one area of your landing page experience at a time. Trust me, this will help you later on when you’re wondering what to test next.
I recommend you bookmark this page so you can come back to it when it’s time to create that next landing page.
The headline—like on a newspaper, the goal of the headline is simply to get the visitor to read the next line, and so on. A great headline is a great hook that grabs the attention of the visitor.
Hero Image—this is the primary image or creative element on the landing page. It should work with the headline, reinforce your value proposition and draw people further in, toward the call to action or benefits.
Proof points—these are benefits or other copy that “pays off” the promise laid out in the headline. If the headline is the hook, these articulate the promise.
Form or Call to Action—depending on the type of landing page you have, you may have either a form to collect data, a call to action (like a button to download your app), or both.
Social Proof—testimonials and other elements validate your brand or product. Our psychology is such that in the absence of perfect information, we will make similar decisions as others that we perceive to be like us.
Third-party endorsement—to create trust and confidence, you can leverage existing brands that are recognizable by your target audience. Has your business been featured in a known news publication or used by a prominent client? You can confer some of the trust associated by their brand by using their logo on your page (with their permission of course).
5 Landing Page Optimization Tips
CTA Button Normally, your call to action (CTA) is going to get the majority of the clicks. So, naturally this is one of the first things I test when improving a landing page. Overall, I have found that a big, blue text link out performs slick ‘Click Here’ buttons most of the time. If the existing page has a graphic CTA that says Learn More, split test it with a big, blue text link that says “Click Here to Learn More”. Saying the words CLICK HERE seem to make people click more.
Social sharing I see a lot of pages with fake like buttons and they’re missing out. They’re great for social proof but you don’t get any of the benefits that real social networking can give you. Real social sharing buttons allow your readers to post your page to Facebook, Twitter and other sites. The fastest way to test is to put the AddThis.com code onto your page and see how it affects conversions. All you do is copy and paste the code on your LP. If the social share buttons don’t cause your conversion rate to go down, leave it on and enjoy free traffic and conversions.
Add captions under images I’ve read that captions under images are read 80% more than the other copy on the page. Readers tend to read the headline, look at the image and then read captions. Add a caption under every image that is on your page, especially the ones above the fold. Use that text to quickly explain the reason why you’re product is great and give them a link to click. It takes no time and 90% of the time conversion rates go up.
Give it a face No one likes to buy a product from a big, faceless corporation. They need a personal touch. That’s why Ronald McDonald exists. Give your visitors a face to go along with the product your peddling. A small headshot in the first paragraph or last paragraph works wonders. You can use your own photo. Or if you’re not comfortable with that, use a pen name and a nice royalty free headshot of a smiling face.
Change font size. Think about your target demographic. Who is reading your page? If your visitors are over the age of 40, raise the text size a few points. If your demo is 60+ make the text a lot bigger. Older eyes have a hard time seeing small text on a screen. Text that looks fine for you may be impossible to read for your demographic. I do a split test, depending on age with 3-5 different font sizes and see which one does best. The general rule is: the older they are, the bigger the text needs to be.

New Post has been published on http://seounion.net/seo/on-page-seo-how-to-optimize-a-website-for-keywords/
On-page SEO: How to Optimize a Website for Keywords
What is on-page SEO?
In simple terms, optimization that you do on your web pages (for selected keywords) to increase their search visibility is called on-page SEO.
On-page optimization SEO includes the following key factors
Keywords in your article titles
Keyword density (around 1 to 2% is considered as better)
Keywords on your H1, H2 and H3 tags
Keyword in your Alt tag (images)
Internal links to your older blog posts (relevant internal linking)
Keywords in first 100 words in your articles
Without on-page optimization, your web pages could barely rank in the search results. So if you are focusing on improving your search engine traffic, improve your on-page optimization.
Why is Optimizing your Site for Keywords Important?
The keywords and page titles of your site are two of the most important signals that search engines such as Google when ranking your website for search queries.
As we saw in our explanation of SEO ranking factors, page-level keywords and agnostic features make up around 23% of the search engine-ranking algorithm. That’s almost one-quarter of the ranking factors used in SEO!
On-Page SEO for Beginners
The following page provides a complete guide for on-page optimization for beginners.
Create Improved Title Tag, Description Metatag, H1 Tag. A great Title Tag or page title absolutely increases SERP click-through rates delivering more traffic if the corresponding page also conveys genuine value resulting in a lower bounce rate. Avoid duplicate title tags.
Title Tag:
The Title Tag is the most important, individual element that Google uses to understand the relevance and context of a page. The title tag instructs Google what the page is about.
A good title tag also encourages a higher click-through rate (CTR) from users in the search engine results.
The HTML verison of a Title tag looks like this:<head> <title>Example Title</title> </head>
H1 Tag (Headline Tag)
The HTML for the H1 tag looks like this:
<h1>Header</h1>
The H1 Tag is the main headline of the article and should start above the article content.
2. Using Keywords in the Body Text
Using your primary and secondary keywords in the article body is just as important as the title tag itself. Search engines such as Google analyze the context of a webpage by looking at the keywords and context of an article. Using various keywords in your article will also help your webpage rank for both short-tail and long-tail queries, as explained in our keyword research article.
3. Meta Tags and Meta Description
In the past, Google relied heavily on Meta tags and description just like your title tag and H1. However, this has now changed and Google has confirmed that they give no weight to your meta tags in SEO.
4. Additional Copy Writing.
Adding more content could be necessary in order to increase the content topical coverage, or to support the integration of 10+ keyword additions. Longer in-depth content with more words per page, say 500+ to 1500+ wordsin content length develops the topic more completely and imcreases the probability of ranking on multiple keywords for well-written pages.
5. Judiciously Integrate Keywords & Raise Reading Level of Content.
Advance the subject. Mention head keywords early in the body copy. For on page SEO basics, usually ten or more keyword phrases supportive of the topic can be added into pages with word count of 500+ words. Strive to make content more interesting by publishing more sophisticated vocabulary, increase complex words usage and reading level yet keep it legible and usable, add opinions, include rich media for improved quality signals, and develop new concepts not based on keyword search terms, versus merely cranking out generic thin content with over usage of simplistic stop words such as “you”. The idea is to communicate an enhanced never-before-seen message while integrating helpful keywords. For added benefits, organize messages into content silos for the best website structure and information architecture (eg. content buckets), including in menu navigation.
6. Add Visual Content and Embed Videos.
Videos enhance user experience and improve website performance. Add photos with captions, infographics, embed Youtube videos, or publish transcripts of customer testimonials and don’t forget to add structured data.
7. Submit the Revised XML Site Map.
Refreshing XML sitemsps identifies recently edited pages to Google Webmaster Tools. Create a site map that refers to linkable urls. Use absolute URLs versus relative URLs. Use breadcrumb navigation and a HTML site map.
8. Images and Image Alt Attributes
Inserting relevant images into your article can also improve the perceived user value and SEO rankings for keywords.
Make sure that when you insert images into your post or page that you fill in the image name and ALT attributes (this is how Google currently understands the relevant and context of images, however this is likely to change in the future as Google is able to “read” images).
Not only will inserting and classifying images correctly help you generate more traffic from image searches but they’ll also help your page rank in the search engines.
How to increase your search rankings with on-page SEO?
Now, let’s discuss about how to increase your search engine rankings. Before you publish a post, use the above on-page SEO checklist and try to cover most of them. Follow the below tips and you will be able to get massive SEO traffic.
Write high quality relevant content: First, define your website needs. Properly optimize your website with relevant keywords. Then, start producing highly relevant web pages related to your keywords. Without quality content, you can’t get your rankings in Google top results.
Add outbound links that are highly relevant: Google also considers your outbound links. If you are linking to established sites in your niche, you will definitely get rewards not only from the search engines but also from the people who are reading your site. Also give references when needed.
Optimize your website speed: Website speed is one of the crucial ranking factors in Google. Make your site loading time faster and you will notice rewarding results from Google. Use tools like Pingdom tools, Google page speed, Yslow etc. to check your website performance.
In a nutshell: On-page SEO optimization shouldn’t be done for few web pages. You need to perform it throughout your site to get better results from Google. Include a sitemap, use better SEO plugins like SEO by Yoast, make your website loading time faster and use on-page SEO checklist before publishing your posts.

How to use Pinterest To make $100 A Day
Between creating products and arbitrage, I’ve been wanting to fill in some of the gaps with my extra time and after reading a few posts around here, I’ve put together my own strategy I’m going to implement to hit $100 a day consistently using Pinterest and some tools.
Basically what I’m doing is emphasizing the entire Food Niche on Pinterest. Of course, Pinterest is heavily females, and girls/women love recipes and desserts!
What I’m doing is using Click Jacker to mask ClickBank affiliate products (cooking and baking products) through recipes.
I just keep liking, following, pinning and creating boards to get biger. Here’s what I’m doing in a bit more detail:
1) Created A Pinterest Account Based On Food and Recipes
2) Created Dessert Board and Added Dessert Pins
3) Choose Appropriate Clickbank Baking Products To Promote
4) Created A Click Jacker Link With Using A Dessert Recipe As The Page, And My Affiliate Product As The Pop Up
5) Added My Click Jacker Link To All My Pins As Their Source Link
6) Followed, Liked, and Pinned and Going
This is going to be an on going journey and I’m going to keep doing this until I hit $100 a day, every day consistently STRICTLY USING CLICKBANK PRODUCTS! I want to show this can still be done in 2015.
Also, I haven’t stuck a link for my main profile website link, but i think I’m going to use a sub-domain and meta redirect it to a affiliate offer once my account gets a little bit bigger.
If you’d like to keep watch of my journey, not only can you subscribe to this thread but you can watch my account grow. Here’s a screenshot of my progress so far. A whole 3 hours old… Feel free to watch it grow! I’ll be posting Screenshot updates every Tuesday to update on the progress. All input is welcome.

In this article, I am not going to list any PPC option like Google AdWords or Bing as they are too costly and may not work great for blogs. This article will focus on other advertisement options which are cheap and effective. So go ahead and find out some great paid traffic sources for Blogs.
Paid Social Media Ads
Facebook - Facebook can be a vital channel for receiving paid traffic. For this, you need to advertise on Facebook. Visitors click on your Facebook advertisement and land on your Facebook page. You can alternatively send the visitors directly to your blog post. Through both of these channels, you get paid traffic to your blog. You can advertise your Blog’s Facebook Page, which can help you to gain traffic in the long run. Say you invested $1000 on advertising your Blog’s Facebook Page, and you got 5000 page likes. You can place Facebook Widget on your blog which will show how many people like your Facebook page, this increase visitor’s trust on your blog. Second whenever you post something on your Facebook page it will reach to your follower, and they can come to your blog to read your latest blog post, by this way you can gain visitors for a long time.
Twitter – Twitter has some pretty sweet targeting options. Probably one of the coolest ones is that you can target people who are tweeting about a particular television program. That’s probably not great for driving traffic though. You can also target by keyword, interests and followers, and even tailored audiences, similar to what Facebook is doing with their Custom Audience targeting. Their “Tailored Audiences” support page is definitely worth a read. One of my favorite features of Twitter Ads is their lead card feature that allows you to collect someone’s email address without leaving twitter.
StumbleUpon – StumbleUpon offers Paid Discovery to promote your website. You can promote various blog posts on StumbleUpon; your blog post will be shown to people who are interested in your blog niche. With StumbleUpon if your blog post is getting good feedback than you can also get a lot of free traffic that is a win-win situation. You can advertise by targeting Location, Age, and Interest, etc.
Other Social Networking Site – You can advertise on various other social sites like Linkedin, Reddit, Pinterest, etc. Promoting on social sites can send you visitors for a long time and help you build a reputation for your blog and you.
PPV or CPV Traffic
Pay Per View or Cost Per View advertisement is one of the cheapest forms of advertisement online. PPV traffic comes from people who have installed Adware software or Plugins, which they install to get something for free, so it’s totally legal. On PPV, you can get a visitor at a low cost as much as $0.0002 per visitor, but it is a disturbance-based advertisement. To advertise on PPV, you target related website, blogs or keyword. (Example: If your blog is related to Car Insurance you can target Car Insurance provider website, other blogs related to car insurance or keywords like car insurance, cheap car insurance, etc.) Whenever visitor opens targeted website, a Pop-up will open with your website or blog.
If you are promoting your blog, I will suggest increase frequency cap say show your ad to same people after seven days. PPV traffic is disturbance based advertisement option it can hurt your blog reputation if you keep popping your website in every few minutes or hours.
Sponsored Blog Post
Sponsored or Paid Blog Post can be a good option to reach a large audience. To write a Sponsored Blog Post you search for some of the top blog related to your blog niche and find do they accept Sponsored or Paid Blog Post. You can request them to give “No-Follow” link so that don’t hurt their and yours blog on SEO. If a blog is getting thousands of visitors per day and you pay them to publish your blog post then you can gain lot of visitors, and can increase your branding. If that blog post ranked well on search engine results, you can gain visitors for a long time.
In-Text Ads
In-Text ads can be a great source for paid traffic. In-Text ad converts a related text into a link, and when a visitor clicks the link it takes to advertiser website. In some In-Text ad networks moving mouse to the link create a popup with ad copy. In-text can be great as we click links to get more information and with In-Text ads this can fulfill advertiser’s requirement. Visitors get related information, so it converts great.
Example:
Infolinks is one of the most popular pay per click companies on the web that helps publishers and advertisers running their business on the internet. Infolinks serves in-text advertisements. Infolinks is one of the largest publisher networks on the web where thousands of advertisers spend their money to promote websites, services or products as pay per click advertisements.
Mobile Ads
World is now at move; everyone have a Smartphone with Internet on it. Mobile market is growing a lot, and same applies for mobile advertisement. People need quick solution to their problem and Mobile phone is with them always, and they search for a solution from their mobile. Mobile advertisement can be a great solution to providing what they are looking for. If your blog is mobile optimized or your blogs theme is responsive, you can look at Mobile Advertisement. At present mobile advertisement provides cheap, but quality traffic. Mobile ads can be a great source to spread your blog at low cost.

8 Tips to Write SEO Friendly Content and Search Engines optimize
1. Do keywords research
Finding the right keywords is what helps you increase your website search traffic. If you post articles without keyword research, you will probably end up getting zero visitors from search engines.
Never start writing an article without doing keywords research. Use Google Keywords Tool to find what people are searching for and for what problems they are trying to get answers.
Discover synonyms and what keywords are used to search in Google. Also study the trends and understand if the demand is increasing or decreasing.
2. Use LSI keywords instead of keyword stuffing
Keyword stuffing is the surefire way to get penalized by Google. Don’t repeat the same keyword again and again just to rank well. Those days are gone, and you can’t get top results in search engines by keyword stuffing.
LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords are the latest trend in SEO. LSI keywords are usually the relevant terms to your targeted keywords. LSI keywords are synonymous terms.
For example: LSI keyword for “SEO traffic” can be “search engine optimization traffic“, “organic traffic” etc.
You see, the above keywords are not the exact words but they are relevant. Google algorithms uses thesaurus to convert your LSI keywords, so your copy ranks well if it has lots of similar keywords instead of same keywords. That means, you can rank well by using LSI keywords instead of keyword stuffing.
You can use this free tool for finding LSI keywords for your websites. Or you can simply use the relevant keyword phrases for your primary keyword to write SEO friendly content.
3. Long content often ranks well
A 1500 words article easily outranks the 500 words article in search engine results. Why?
Search engines give top priority to the sites that have authority content.
Did you know that the articles with 1500+ words rank really well in search results? Neil Patel from QuickSprout says, long content ranks well in search engines.
Posting detailed content doesn’t guarantee you the BEST results. You need to make sure your content is not crappy. What’s the use of writing detailed content if has no value that improves your audience?
You always have to focus on creating great content that helps your readers to solve their problems. It should be either entertaining or educating, only then you can get more organic traffic from search engines.
4. Learn to write concise and compelling headlines
One of the easiest ways to get more traffic from search engines is to write powerful headlines.
8 out of 10 people will read your headlines before clicking on your links. So make sure to spend quality time in crafting winning headlines that make your audience click on your blog posts.
Here are few rocking tips to write great headlines that help you write SEO friendly content.
Don’t go beyond 65 characters in your headlines. Keep them short and compelling.
Try to come up with 3 to 5 headline ideas for each post and choose the best one among them.
Start your headlines with your primary keywords to add more weightage!
Use triggers like “powerful”, “incredible”, “amazing” etc in your headlines to create more impact
5. Perform on-page optimization at the end
Whether you agree it or not, on-page SEO is still one of the crucial ranking factors in Google. You need to make sure that your each post is properly optimized for few keywords to bring more traffic from search engines.
Make sure to add your primary keywords in title, meta description, image alt tags, inter links and through your copy to make it SEO friendly. But don’t overdo it. Use your keywords sparingly and you will be fine.
Don’t focus on on-page SEO in the beginning or while writing the posts. Focus on on-page optimization only after finishing your articles. That way you will be easily save a lot of time and you can craft your posts for search engines much better.
6. Publish outstanding content
Your content is the most important part of your website. Without good content, it’s impossible to rank high in Google. Your articles must be well-written and provide real value to your readers.
Google gives more credit to longer articles and posts that get a lot of engagement, like comments, for example. Do your best to engage your readers and make them share their thoughts. Short articles that don’t bring anything new to the table can get your website penalized by Google Panda. Also make sure you are not covering the same topic too many times, or your site may start to look like a content farm.
7. Write for readers, not search engines
Think about what your readers want to hear from you and write with humans in mind. Very often, SEOs are writing only for the purpose of getting higher rankings, and they end up over-optimizing their content.
Use a friendly tone and be yourself.
8. Publish fresh content frequently
If you publish new articles on a daily or weekly basis, Google will crawl your website more often and will give you more authority. With new content, you also get more chances of ranking for new keywords. Websites that rank higher tend to publish more content.

Online Privacy and Theft Protection Q and A
Identity theft expert John Sileo answers common questions about online privacy and theft protection …
Q: Is it safer to make bill payments through your online banking account versus logging in to the website of the company that is billing you to make payments? (Online banking can take up to seven to 10 days to process a payment, while a direct payment to a vendor’s site is immediate.)
A: I prefer to log in to the bank and use its bill pay option. That way, only the bank has your information and when it sends out a check or ACH on your behalf, it is the bank’s account number, not yours. But yes, you have to be a bit more prepared to do it.
Q: If someone hacks my e-mail address and sends spam to people in my address book, is it enough to just change my password, or should I obtain a totally new e-mail address?
A: This is a hard question, as that address has forever been tainted and will often trigger the junk mail feature on the accounts of your acquaintances. If it’s not a ton of trouble (I know it is), change the account, otherwise, change the password to something longer than 13 characters, using alphanumeric characters and symbols. Example: Th3H1ll$areAl!v3 (The Hills Are Alive). Easy to remember, tough to crack.
Q: I heard that many smartphone apps, including many popular ones, actually have viruses embedded within them. How can I tell if an app is safe to download? What do I do to make sure my smartphone remains virus (and hacker) free?
A: Oftentimes they are apps that mimic the real ones but that intercept all of your private information. My rule of thumb is to only load what you absolutely need, only use the approved app store (e.g. Apple) and change the privacy settings in your mobile phone to restrict the apps access to your contacts, etc.
Q: Is it best not to shop at retailers that have announced they had breaches in security?
A: Actually, it’s only after a retailer has had a breach that it starts to take the security precautions it should have taken in the first place. Over time, Target will be safer than most retailers. Isn’t it ironic? That said, I am done with Target, at least with a credit card. It ended up losing data that was more than 10 years old—That’s bad practice keeping that information around for so long.
Q: My daughter said someone gained access to her debit card account via her PayPal account. The bank had her file an “investigation” request and nothing more…shouldn’t it change her account and/or her debit card before the person who has her information takes more money from her—while they investigate? I don’t understand them not being more proactive to protect her money!
A: Absolutely the bank should change her account! If the bank doesn’t do that, find another bank. The chances of someone breaching the account again are very high.
Q: I want to discontinue my Facebook account. How do I unsubscribe?
A: That is probably the most popular question I get these days, and I show you how to do it (without shooting yourself in the foot) here: http://www.sileo.com/how-do-i-delete-my-facebook-account/
1. Backup your data.
2. Deactivate your account for a week or two first to see if you really want to live without it.
3. Alert your friends if you do decide to permanently delete your account. The intention is to protect your privacy, not anger your friends.
4. Delete your account.
Q: What is the “safest” web browser and which do you use?
A: I use two separate browsers—one for private and one for public. For private, I have built a much more secure browser using Firefox. There are a bunch of items you can lock down on a browser to make it safer. But, of course, performance suffers. So, when I’m browsing non-private stuff like sports I use my regular browser (Chrome). And when I go to my bank or other financial company websites, I use my protected Firefox browser.
Q: I’ve been reading about bitcoins. Is it a legitimate currency? Would you recommend using them?
A: While there are a lot of supporters of bitcoins (mostly drug users and criminals who want to launder money), I am not one of them. Remember when they said that Cabbage Patch Kids would be worth a fortune in 10 years (or Pet Rocks, or Furbies)? Well, the bitcoin will be worth about as much.
Q: Can you give us some of the best ways we can protect ourselves from identity theft?
A: Some of the most popular suggestions from my book, Privacy Means Profit (Wiley), include freezing your credit (more here: http://www.sileo.com/2) and opting out of junk mail (http://www.sileo.com/1). I also recommend you take your Social Security card out of your purse or wallet and only take it when you need it.
Q: I’ve heard about web browsers such as Tor that would allow me to browse the web anonymously—and more securely. Are there different risks to my computer’s security than if I were to use a traditional browser such as Safari or Google Chrome?
A: Tor is actually not a browser, but a program that hides your IP address (makes it look like it’s coming from another country). This is great for people who want to avoid the Great Firewall of China or to mask their behavior (usually Spamming), but it does little to keep you anonymous. For that, I like the software Cocoon or www.getcocoon.com.
Q: I’ve heard that some US credit card issuers are thinking of switching from the traditional swipe-and-sign cards to the chip-and-pin technology that is common in Europe and Asia. Would this improve security?
A: Yes, and let’s hope they do switch. By no means is it a perfect technology, but in the first five years in Britain, it lowered credit card fraud by more than 70%. You see, it’s so easy to replicate the magnetic strip on the back of the card, but much harder to clone a digital chip and also have the PIN or password. I am totally behind this technology.
Q: I’ve been hearing about apps to transfer money quickly and easily such as Venmo. Are these services safe? If not, what is the most secure way to transfer money to friends or family members?
A: I do not use my mobile phone or iPad for any financial transactions at this point, as they are so compromised by rogue apps. I use the old fashioned method and get on my laptop or give the bank a call. Much more work, but much safer. In two to three years, these apps will be safe because the mobile operating systems will have done a better job locking down the important apps and locking out the rogue apps.
Q: When I enter a commerce site on my computer these days, the browser, or perhaps my computer, asks me if I would like to save my password, so that the next time I visit the site from the same computer device, I will not have to enter it. I normally answer no. Is it safe to answer yes?
A: I don’t like to use the password keychains, as they are called, that are in the browser. They are so easy to hack. I prefer to use a program like 1Password so that they are well encrypted, and so that you are forced to use long, strong and varied passwords.
