The Evolution of PBNs in SEO: Are They Still Effective?
Private Blog Networks (PBNs) are networks of websites owned by the same individual or entity. These websites are typically created to manipulate search engine rankings by linking to a primary website. The links within the network are perceived by search engines as signals of authority and relevance, influencing the ranking of the linked website. PBNs are a collection of interconnected websites that serve as a means of manipulating search engine algorithms.

If there are charitable causes that you care about but you don't have much money and/or time to help:
(Note for if this leaves Christian Tumblr, that this blog is religious and some of the advice given is religious in nature. If you're of a different religion, consider substituting 'Church' or any other religious building mentioned for ones that exist in your faith)
Pray. Dedicate a day, a week, a month, a year to focusing on prayers for that charitable cause. Pray for every aspect of it that you can think of. Pray for comfort to those affected. For volunteers. For projects to receive the financial funding they need. For research to make breakthroughs. Pray for politicians to soften their hearts and enact positive changes. Pray for people in general to soften their hearts and enact positive changes.
Encourage your followers to pray for that cause. Share or write prayers for that cause or share other people's prayers for that cause. There are so many people online that are ready and willing to pray for anything that you ask of them. Bringing awareness that this is something that you want prayed for is greatly beneficial. And by sharing this, you may even encourage your followers to not only pray but to look into the cause and contribute in other ways too.
Bring it up with your Priest/Church. Your Church may be able to hold a prayer group for this cause. It may be able to run a financial drive or a drive to donate food or clothing or blankets depending on the cause. Or they may be able to source up volunteers. If you don't feel comfortable / aren't able to bring it up with your Priest, bring it up with other members of your Church that you do feel comfortable reaching out to. Be upfront about the amount of time you can commit and you may be able to bring it up with them.
Bring it up with other Churches. A lot of Churches welcome prayer requests from people. Try reaching out to them about a cause that is important to you. You can write up a template email to save time that highlights its importance to you and any important links. They can join in with praying for the cause, or their Church might have the resources in order to contribute material support.
Bring it up with Discord servers or other online social networks you're in. Approach the admins in private (don't just post without permission) and say "hey this is a cause I really care about, is there anything we can do about this as a community?". Some of them may be willing to share fundraisers or even make a community fundraising goal. People like communal activities that bring them together, and things like collectively fundraising and raising awareness can be great fun. Especially if different challenges are set up. If you're an admin of a discord server or other social media network, this can be something you can put in place for your followers.
Share and spread fundraisers. Even if you don't have the money to donate, your followers might. Sharing a fundraiser brings it to new people and with new people comes more opportunities for that fundraiser to receive donations. Depending on the platform, sharing the fundraiser link might even improve it's analytics which encourages the fundraising platform itself to promote the fundraiser more, resulting in new donations.
A minimum donation is better than nothing. Even if you can only donate the minimum amount. Be that ÂŁ2/$2 or even just an old tshirt or pair of socks that you no longer use or a can or two of soup that you don't particularly like. All of these donations are important and can make a difference. Please never feel like your donation is too small to be worth giving. Depending on the platform, lots of little donations can also boost that fundraiser and make more people see it and more likely to donate. Your $2 could boost that fundraiser and make someone that can donate $20/$50/$100/$200 donate. All thanks to your donation.
Educate yourself on that topic. Education is incredibly important, and things like books or Youtube videos can be gone through at your own pace. You can listen to a podcast about the topic in the shower or in the car. You can read even just a couple of pages of a book before you doze off to sleep. Education empowers, it enables us to better talk about the topic to others that might help them engage with the cause. It helps us to be there for people suffering. It helps us know what to do if a problem happens to us.
Educate others on that topic. If you have the time to make posts about that topic, then great! It could be infographics, it could be sharing interesting books or videos. It could be summarising information. There are so many possibilities. If you don't have the time or ability to make posts. See what other users are sharing on that topic and share those posts. If there's an interesting article you've come across, they should have share buttons that will populate a post with the link and a little bit of information around it.
Reach out to the charities. Some charities actually offer online volunteering opportunities that can be much more flexible with time commitments rather than say going into a shop on a specific day for X amount of hours. But you may need to reach out to charities to find out about this. Give them an idea of your skillset and how much time you can realistically commit to in an average day. Ask them if there's other ways you can help out if they're not looking for volunteers. They may have some really good suggestions of ways you can help.
Reach out to individuals. If they're struggling, offer them a kind word and shoulder to lean on. Ask if there's other ways you can help them with any struggles. Maybe they need help finding resources in their area. Maybe they need help with getting some groceries in if they're struggling too much to go outside / manage online ordering. Even if you can't help them yourself, you may know someone that can help them.
Share positivity. If you don't feel comfortable reaching out to people 1-on-1 even just sharing a little inspirational quote (that either you post or share from someone else) can make a difference. While these don't help everyone, some people do really benefit from seeing a nice encouraging post. Some mental health charities make these kinds of posts, and if you can share them from them then not only are you sharing positivity but you're raising awareness of a helpful resource.
Donate loyalty points. If you have any loyalty cards, then look to see if any of them have the means of donating to charity using your points. If you're spending money regularly in that shop anyways, then using those points towards charity can be a great way of getting the things you need while also being able to donate to a good cause. There are also platforms like Microsoft Rewards that allow you to donate to various charities through points that you earn. The amount you can donate and the charities you can donate to vary depending on region but it can be worth looking into.
Online Shopping: Some charities have online stores that you can purchase from where you can get goods for yourself, and your money will go towards that charity. Some online shopping platforms may also allow you to donate to charities through shopping on their platform. Have a look to see if there's anything like that for platforms that you use or platforms that you'd be willing and able to switch to. This way you can make your weekly/monthly shop contribute towards a good cause.
Look to Monasteries/Convents. I know that some have an online store where you can buy goods for yourself, and the money raised will go towards the Monastery/Convent and towards any projects they are undertaking that year. Some of them such as St. Elisabeth Convent also let you purchase goods through their online store that directly goes to children/adults in needs (e.g. you purchase an item, and they deal with donating it themselves). St. Elisabeth Convent are currently doing an Easter drive for the special needs children and vulnerable adults under their care. Look to see if there's other Monasteries/Convents in your area doing similar. Consider reaching out to them for advice on how to help. And look to see if there's donation points on the site or places you can drop off used goods that they can make use of.
Buy your cards through charity shops. If you're going to be buying Christmas or birthday cards (or cards for any other occasion) anyways. Have a look to your charity shops. Often they are around the same price point as local card shops (or sometimes even cheaper!) and they usually have some really lovely designs. This way, you can turn a purchase you were going to make anyways into something that also helps other people. Often charity shops will have e-card versions as well, which you can consider purchasing for long distance friends or relatives.
Reach out to local stores and supermarkets. Sometimes supermarkets and shops will work on a charity drives around Christmas time. I know that my local Waterstones always has a Christmas tree where you can gift items to children and teenagers in need based off of books that they've requested. I have sometimes seen my supermarket partner with the local foodbank. But consider reaching out to those shops and supermarkets and seeing if they can create a fundraiser for a local cause you care about. They may be able to organise something like a food drive or having donation spots through the shop for those wanting to donate money.
Reach out to local politicians. The kinds of local politicians you have will obviously depend on your country and area. But look into who you can reach out to that manages things to do with the charitable cause you care about. Consider sending them an email encouraging them to do more for that cause and even bring up wanting advice on how you can help out. They may have local suggestions for you. Some charities / petitions / fundraisers will have a draft template or even a form that automatically sends it out to your local politician.
If you have any other low cost / low time commitment ways of helping charitable causes, please feel free to share them!

ayooo I made this like a year ago and posted it on my original blog, I thought I'd post it here cause why not lol?
â¶â·â¶â·
I've loved the RE games for a while now, but recently I realized I didn't know the lore that well.
Now, there are plenty of thorough videos online that lay out the lore of the games, but my silly little brain has a hard time following along. So I wrote it out in a way that made sense to me.
I haven't played all the games myself, so if something is incorrect, Iâm sorry. Additionally, I left some content out to keep it as simple and comprehensible as possible!

RESIDENT EVIL CHARACTER LINK
Mother Miranda lives in an Eastern European village. In 1919 the Spanish flu claimed her only daughter. In a state of depression, Mother Miranda finds herself deep within a cave network underneath her village, hoping to find the sweet relief of death and be with her daughter once more. This is where she discovers a unique mold (a form of mutamycete) with regenerative properties. She spends the next several decades researching the mold in hopes of using it to reincarnate her daughter.Â
In 1951, a British medical student by the name of Oswald E. Spencer discovered Mother Mirandaâs research. He basically becomes very interested in the human genome and goes off on his own to run his own experiments for the next few years.Â
In 1962 Oswald E. Spencer hired a man named George Trevor to build him a mansion in the Arklay Mountains, so he could continue his research privately.Â
Later, Oswald E. Spencer joins forces with two other men, James Marcus, and Edward Ashferd. The trio sets off to Africa to find a unique flower, the âStairway to the Sunâ, which has regenerative properties. Using this flower, the men synthesize the Progenitor Virus.Â
In 1968, Oswald E. Spencer, James Marcus, and Edward Ashferd, co-founded Umbrella Corp. This âpharmaceutical companyâ was really just a front for their viral bioweapon research.
Above is the Umbrella Corp. Emblem Â
Shortly afterward, Edward Ashferd gets frustrated with his two partners and moves to Antarctica where he starts up his own Umbrella research labs. Oswald E. Spencer dislikes this and has Edward Ashferd injected with the Progenitor Virus, killing him.Â
 Oswald E. Spencer is working on Project W. where he kidnaps children and injects them with the Progenitor Virus, in hopes of building a race of loyal superhuman soldiers. All of the test subjects die, except for one, Albert Wesker.Â
In 1987, James Marcus and his assistants William Birkin and Albert Wesker created the T-Virus, by combining leech DNA with the Progenitor Virus. Shortly after this, the facility gets shut down(?), and the trio moves back to Oswald E. Spencerâs lab in the Arklay Mountains.Â
Back at the Arklay Umbrella lab, William Birkin discovers that ~10% of the population is naturally immune to their viruses. So he created Bio Organic Weapons (BOWâs). His work with BOWâs is refined into making specific BOWâs, aka Tyrants.
(Late 1998) James Marcus is working with his own strand of the T-Virus, and he creates his âQueen Leechâ. Oswald E. Spencer dislikes this as well and tries to kill James Marcus. This attempt fails. James Marcusâs body along with his Queen Leech are dumped into a sewage area, where the Queen Leech eats James Marcusâs body, and absorbs his consciousness. This sort of reincarnates James Marcus.
In the 1990s, Umbrella expanded, and Oswald E. Spencer commissioned a new lab facility to be constructed underneath Raccoon City.Â
(William Birkin created the G-Virus around this time.)
In 1996, S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) was created. It is technically under Raccoons Cities jurisdiction, but it's privately funded by Umbrella Corp. so they can have control over it. Albert Wesker gets assigned as Captain to the S.T.A.R.S Alpha team.Â
In 1998, Rebbeca Chambers stumbled across a train wreck filled with James Marcusâs infected leeches. She ends up finding, and killing the Queen Leech (remember James Marcusâs consciousness is intertwined with the Queen Leech).
(Still 1988) S.T.A.R.S Alpha team is on a mission. Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield discover Umbrella Corp.âs experiments and learn that Albert Wesker is a traitor. They fight, and Albert Wesker injects himself with the T-Virus, and escapes.Â
Raccoon Cityâs water supply is contaminated with the T-Virus. This infects the whole town and turns them into zombies. Umbrella uses this situation to test out their new BOW, a Tyrant named Nemesis. Nemesis targets Jill Valentine. With the help of Carlos Oliviera, they escape the Tyrant and Raccoon City before it is nuked so the virus doesn't spread. Â
At the same time, there's a girl by the name of Claire, she's searching for her brother Chris Redfield in Raccoon City.Â
(All you need to know is through RE from here on out, she keeps searching for her brother and getting into dangerous situations where different viruses are present.)Â
Anyway, Claire meets Leon Kennedy, and they go to the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD). The two get separated and Leon Kennedy finds the G-Virus. He meets a woman named Ada Wong, an independent mercenary who's trying to get her hands on the G-Virus, and sell it. (She actually does this). Claire and Leon Kennedy escape Raccoon City through a sewer before itâs nuked.Â
It's now 2004, Leon Kennedy was deployed to a village in Spain to rescue the U.S. president's daughter who was kidnapped. The village is plagued by the Las Plagas Virus, which has something to do with the Los Illuminados Cult. Ada Wong shows up and grabs a sample of the Las Plagas Virus to sell to Albert Wesker. Leon Kennedy saves the president's daughter, defeats the Los Illuminados, and escapes the island.Â
(2006) Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine find Oswald E. Spencerâs location, and they go to his house. When they get there, they find Albert Wesker had just killed Oswald E. Spencer. (This is cause Wesker found out he was the product of Project W).Â
Basically, Albert Wesker kidnaps Jill Valentine for a while and uses her as his test subject/mind-controlled dummy. (Eventually, she breaks free from Albert Wesker's mind-control)
Around this time, the B.S.A.A. was created. The Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance. (This is because bioweapons are being made worldwide)Â

Around this time, the B.S.A.A. was created. The Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance. (This is because bioweapons are being made worldwide)Â

Albert Wesker moves on and tries to make West Africa a diseased wasteland. Chris Redfield and the B.S.A.A. team up to go to stop him. This is where they discover the Uroboros Virus. (This is an RNA virus in the Progenitor family. It was engineered by Albert Wesker). Chris Redfeild and the B.S.A.A successfully kills Albert Wesker.
In 2012, there was this thing called the C-Virus, which can mutate bodies while keeping their consciousness. For a while Umbrella Corp.'s was under some heat, but they revived themselves as âNeo Umbrellaâ. Neo Umbrella unleashes the C-Virus (in China?) and basically, Raccoon City happens all over again.Â
There is this crime syndicate called âThe Connectionsâ. They strike a deal with Mother Miranda, she gives them her mold and the DNA of her daughter hoping they would help revive her. The Connections use the E-Type Mutamycete mold to create bioweapons out of children. This gave birth to the genetically modified human Eveline, who had mind-controlling and regenerative powers. The B.S.A.A. caught wind of this, and The Connections loaded a research team with Eveline onto a cargo boat to ship her somewhere safer. Eveline infected the whole cargo ship with her mold, killing everyone except Eveline's direct handler, a researcher named Mia Winters.Â
The cargo ship wreckage landed somewhere along the coast of Dulvey Parish, Louisiana. An old man by the name of Jack Baker found Eveline and Mia Winters and took the two back to his house to take care of them. Eveline infected the whole Baker family.Â
Mia Winters sends an email to her husband, Ethan Winters. He drives to Dulvey Parish, Louisiana to save his wife. Unfortunately, Ethan Winters gets killed pretty quickly, but he gets revived by Eveâs mold. Eveline turns into a big mold monster, and Ethan Winters does his best to fight it, until Chris Redfield comes in and saves the day.Â
Fast forward a few years, Ethan and Mia Winters have a baby named Rosemary (Rose) Winters. Somehow Mother Miranda finds out about this and decides that Rose Winters is the perfect candidate to use to resurrect her daughter. So Mother Miranda kidnaps Rose and Mia Winters and brings them back to her old Eastern European village. Ethan Winters goes to save his family. He fights a bunch of Mother Miranda's experiments (i.e. Lady Dimitrescu, Heisenberg, Lycans, Dona Beneviento, etc...), and eventually, Chris Redfield comes to try and save the day again. But Ethan Winters sacrifices himself for his family and blows up the whole village.Â
Fast forward again, it's 2037. Rose Winters is a teenager now, and she has Mutamycete mold powers. She hates that she's different, and wants to get rid of them. She is told if she enters the Mutamycete moldâs consciousness, she might find a way to rid herself of these powers. Now everyone who's ever been in contact with the Mutamycete mold is trapped/a part of the mold consciousness. Inside, she fights off Mother Miranda one last time, meets her father, and then decides to keep her mold powers.Â

Again, I did leave some games/content out, but I hope this was enjoyable and/or useful and easy enough to understand!

The Flow of Life and Magical Devices
Nature of the Flow of Life: The Flow of Life isnât just the source of magicâit's a fundamental force of existence in Scriptoria. Everything living and magical is connected to it, making it both a spiritual and practical energy source. When visible as the Northern Lights, it symbolizes the lifeblood of the world, weaving through every land and sea.
The Flow is self-renewing and infinite, meaning devices relying on it never run out of energy.
It has a natural harmony that prevents overuse or "magical pollution."
Arcane RelicTabâs Functionality: The RelicTab is a masterpiece of magical craftsmanship, seamlessly channeling the Flow of Life to function as a universal communication, entertainment, and utility tool.

ManaMart: Buyers can magically preview items in a 3D magical image (like an hologram) before purchasing them.
Flow-Based Mechanics for Worldbuilding
No Dead Zones: Unlike real-world technology, the Flow ensures constant, uninterrupted magical energy. The phrase "youâre out of range" doesnât exist in Scriptoria.
No Overdependence: While magical tools are everywhere, they are designed not to replace skills but to enhance them. For example:
Chefs still need cooking skills, even with enchanted ovens.
Writers still need to craft their stories, though enchanted quills speed up the process.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glyphs of the Flow of Life
Every magical device in Scriptoria is marked with an enchanted glyph, a magical rune that identifies its primary function and connects it to the Flow of Life. These glyphs serve as both a seal of authenticity and a functional conduit for the device to draw its energy from the Flow.
Design of Glyphs
Universal Glyph Structure: Each glyph is circular in design, representing the infinite and cyclical nature of the Flow of Life. Within the circle, intricate patterns vary depending on the deviceâs purpose.
Glyphs glow faintly when active, pulsing with the energy of the Flow.
The glowâs color often reflects the element or essence of the device (e.g., blue for cooling, orange for heating).
Customization: Skilled mages or artisans can slightly modify glyphs to give devices unique designs and features (similare to programming), but the core structure must remain intact for functionality.
Key Glyphs and Their Functions
Communication, Music & Entertainment:
Glyph Name: Audivius
Devices: RelicTab (Phones), Arcane Radios, Portable Sound Relays (similar to earbuds).
Entertainment & Artistry:
Glyph Name: Creativium
Devices: TVs, Arcane Projection Crystals, Computers.
Household Cleaning:
Glyph Name: Purifex
Devices: Dishwashers, Washing Machines, Magic Brooms etc...
Heating & Cooking:
Glyph Name: Ignisculum
Devices: Ovens, Microwaves, Heaters etc...
Cooling & Preservation:
Glyph Name: Frigus
Devices: Fridges, Freezers, Preservation Crystals etc...
Illumination:
Glyph Name: Luxira
Devices: Lamps, Lanterns, Enchanted Chandeliers.
Transportation:
Glyph Name: Vectura
Devices: Flying Carriages, Magical Wagons, Airships etc...
Health & Restoration:
Glyph Name: Sanativum
Devices: Healing Crystals, Magical Med-Kits, Relaxation Pods etc...
Integration of Glyphs in Daily Life
Device Activation: To activate a device, a user simply touches the glyph. The glyph glows brighter, indicating that itâs connected to the Flow.
Glyph Education: In schools, children are taught to recognize common glyphs, as they are an essential part of everyday life. Advanced students may even learn to craft glyphs for custom devices.
Cultural Significance:
Some glyphs, like Luxira (Light), are also carved into jewelry or object for decorative light.
Guilds specializing in device manufacturing are often named after key glyphs, such as the "Guild of Ignisculum" for heating devices.
Personalized Glyph Seals: High-end devices are sometimes enchanted with personalized glyphs, which integrate the ownerâs essence or initials into the glyph design. This makes the device uniquely theirs and unusable by others unless the glyph is rewritten.
Blog Post #3 (Due 9/12)
How can we maintain a sense of privacy online?
Regardless of your social media presence, itâs increasingly difficult to maintain a sense of privacy. Our phones are being tracked, often through GPS apps (which keep track of where you go and when), there are cameras in most public places, companies and apps collect countless information of ours, which is often then sold to other companies, our activity is tracked to build a âbetter algorithm,â our social media interactions are recorded, and information from government applications is stored. No matter how âofflineâ we perceive ourselves to be, our information is out there, making it extremely difficult to maintain privacy in such a technology-centered society.
Why is the information thatâs stored on us important?
Weâve established how much of our personal information is collected and stored by major companies, but what do they do with it? Often, itâs sold to other companies (primarily for advertising purposes: the more someone knows about you, the better they can cater to your interests and potentially make money off of you). However, itâs also often used to make important social decisions, like who receives welfare, qualifies for loans/insurance, and more. As Eubanks discusses in Automating Equality, digital tracking and careful withholding of information give the public the âethical distance it needs to make inhuman choicesâ (Eubanks, page 28). Furthermore, thereâs very little political discussion about the impact of using our private data/information collected by websites, companies, and the government, so itâs scary to think about whatâs being done with our information without our knowledge.
How does the internet play a role in social change?
In Rethinking Cyberfeminisms, the author discusses how the internet can gain attention, politically and socially. So, the internet can allow feminists (and other activists) to find each other, work together, and exchange ideas regardless of geographic location, a privilege that wasnât shared by feminists in earlier generations. In agreement with other scholars, the author encouraged women (women of color, in particular) to engage with the internet beyond internet surfing, because it can be an incredibly useful tool.
Does race play the same role online as it does irl?
Online social networks are still social networks, meaning theyâre generally run by the same ârulesâ or norms. Just because racism isnât overt, doesnât necessarily mean itâs non-existent or non-important. racism can take on many forms online much like in real life, being subtle, covert, or blatant. The article then notes that because race is still a factor of oneâs online experience, how can online experiences truly be disembodied?
Hi, I was wondering if you had any opinions on "backup social media" for if/when tumblr goes down? Either just your takes on alternatives (bluesky, mastodon/specific fediverse things, pillowfort, etc) or if you have alternatives already and what your thoughts on/experiences with them are. I enjoy your blog so it'd be nice to follow you somewhere else just in case, but I understand if you want to keep it private ^^
9/11 killed any chance at the cool cyberspaces 90s kids an engineers were dreaming up an I'm still salty abt it
bluesky feels like funnye twitter and we did did that and don't want to do that ever again, mastodon is a failed promise but broader fedi could do something interesting, pillowfort I have no clue, Xiaohongshu had its 5 minutes of fame and unfortunately I doubt it'll get another chance, boomer/elder millennial networks are all Megacorp now....
I wanna get a personal site w/ blog up and running, some kind of themed forum (not a huge fan of forming a cult of personality so would rather a common theme...maybe like Cyberdelia but on the Net rather than (fictional) meatspace), an then I'm thinking private chatroom for friends an such. probably IRC xD
plans subject to change an wanna try out various things like a virtual message wall would be a cool concept.
I'm no black hat (nowhere near cool enough, not that I would admit such things on tumblr dot com even if I was), but building a community around sharing knowledge, bringing the whimsy back into tech etc. would be neat. hacker spirit, as it were.
when I have somewhere public others can find me I'll slap that on my pinned
ADVICE ON HOW TO START A BLOG(WRITING).
it was asked by someone but i accidentally sent it through private answer ă
ă
so i'll be listing out the points again (more detailed) in this post plus additional points for anyone who might need it! (for a writing blog) find more tips here in my NAVI. if anyone has any other point, please feel free to add we're all here to help!
( 001. ) first step is to decide what kind of content you want your blog to be centered around. drabbles? oneshots? reactions? texts? smaus? series? of course you don't have to stick to one, you can write all, but the point is which one do you want to start your blog with and which one you want to build your blog with?
for me personally i chose to build my blog through reactions and then when i felt i had built a good enough base and an audience, i started branching out into the other types. this might not be the way everyone wants to follow but trust me it helps build a name well. they would recognize you for the kind of content you write and then your audience (people who like what you are writing) will find you!
for requests, i would suggest not to ask for them until a certain time. wait until you are settled into your blog and are comfortable with things and have at least a couple of works posted so that people know what they should be expecting when they ask for something.
it is also COMPLETELY FINE not to take requests like ever because it is your blog and you are providing content for free so no one has the right to tell you what to do. do not ever feel guilty for not giving in to people's demands if it's not what you want. if anyone and i mean anyone tells you otherwise, demands or harasses you regarding posting more or posting something they want or posting less or literally anything that they do not contribute to, block them. they do not deserve to have access to your free content with such entitlement.
( 002. ) pick out a username you want to be known by, and make a navigation post with all the links: your about me, rules, masterlist and so on.
in the about me page, let people know your age (you can write adult/minor as well) your alias (the name you want to be known by- it's different from username like for example my username is 'wonryllis' and my alias is 'yeonie' ) and anything you'd want people to know about you.
in the rules page, let people know what you are and are not comfortable with. what kind of people are not allowed to interact with your content including age restrictions (for eg mine is -15/30+), what kind of content you are open to writing and what kind of content you will absolutely not write, any rules you have regarding sending requests and asks, whether your requests are currently open, what would one have to do to be in your permanent/specific fic taglist and so on. you can look through the rules page of other blogs and find what you want to include.
for a masterlist, my advice will be to make one as soon as you have at least three works posted. when you have all your works in one place people find it easier to look through your blog and hence support you.
if you join any networks (i do recommend joining some as they help spread your work) you may also make a networks page where you list the networks you are in. similarly any individual page you wish to post and want any newcomer to be able to see, link it in the navigation.
( 003. ) for mutuals, my best advice is to wait. wait until you have made a decent name for yourself through your writings, because honestly as much as there are a lot of nice people here, there are bad too. so you must have a somewhat strong base before you befriend anyone.
mutuals doesn't always have to mean that you talk daily or you read each of their works or you show up in their inbox at every chance, sometimes you just silently follow each other because you like their work, sometimes you just become friends because you like their vibe, sometimes you just occasionally text each other about some mutual likes and dislikes. there is no set criteria, just you do you.
though i must warn you that if the case is such that you ask to be their mutual and then not interact with them at all then that is wrong because you explicitly asked them to follow you to become mutuals and then you ghost- that's basically clout. don't do that to anyone ĂČâ _â Ăłâ Ëâ )
( 004. ) be kind, be nice, be humane. like i always say a little kindness goes a long way (this applies to real life especially) you never know what someone is going through in their life or how bad their day might have been or that they are on this site to feel a bit better so it's always good to respond and spread positivity and happiness.
your words may not seem like a lot to you but perhaps to someone it might mean everything. don't be shy to tell someone if you like something about their work or their blog or just about anything it might make their day. never hurts to compliment people now does it? there's so much negativity in the world already, why add to it?
( 005. ) lastly have patience, keep trying and don't give up! some blogs grow big in a month and some in a year. if you don't try you will never know your potential, always strive to improve and always strive to be happy with your work, any amount of validation and compliments will only ever work for a split moment before you go back to feeling miserable if you don't love your work and your effort.
it is very much possible that some works may not do well as others or some works may hit luck and garner a lot of attention or some works may just go unnoticed to a saddening extent, but it's all a part of writing. something you may expect to blow up, might not and something you have no hope in doing good may become your most popular work. it's all luck.
overall my point is, it'll not happen in one day but one day it will surely happen! đ€đ»
DISCLAIMER ! these are my personal tips that i feel are important enough. may not be everyone's cup of tea and may not work for everyone. you may take what works for you and let the rest be left. and if there is something else you feel that should absolutely be included, you are welcome to reblog with those points or leave them in the comments!
Making money through blogging involves a combination of creating high-quality content, growing an audience, and monetizing your blog effectively.
Making money through blogging involves a combination of creating high-quality content, growing an audience, and monetizing your blog effectively. Here are some strategies to help you get started:
1. Choose a Profitable Niche
Pick a niche that you're passionate about but also has a potential audience interested in it. Popular niches include:
Personal finance
Health and fitness
Travel
Lifestyle
Technology
Food
Fashion
Ensure there's enough demand for content in that area and that you can create consistent, valuable content.
2. Build Your Audience
Consistent Content: Publish regularly and ensure your content is high quality. Write blog posts that address your audienceâs problems or needs.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization): Optimize your content to rank in search engines like Google. Research keywords relevant to your niche and use them strategically in your posts.
Social Media: Promote your blog on social platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook to reach more people and drive traffic to your blog.
Email Marketing: Create an email list to nurture a dedicated audience. You can offer free resources like eBooks or checklists in exchange for email sign-ups.
3. Monetize Your Blog
There are several ways to make money from your blog:
a) Affiliate Marketing
Join affiliate programs where you promote other people's products and earn a commission for each sale made through your referral link.
Some popular affiliate programs include Amazon Associates, ShareASale, and CJ Affiliate.
Write reviews, how-to guides, or round-up lists with affiliate links.
b) Display Ads
You can make money by displaying ads on your blog. Google AdSense is a popular network that places ads on your site and pays you based on impressions or clicks.
The more traffic you have, the higher your potential earnings.
c) Sponsored Posts
Companies might pay you to write blog posts about their products or services.
Build a strong enough readership, and brands will reach out to you directly, or you can pitch to them.
d) Sell Products or Services
Digital Products: Create and sell eBooks, printables, courses, or guides.
Physical Products: If relevant to your niche, you can sell physical goods or branded merchandise.
Services: Offer services such as consulting, coaching, or freelance writing if you have expertise in your niche.
e) Membership or Subscription
Offer premium content to your audience for a monthly or yearly fee. You can create a membership area on your blog where subscribers get access to exclusive resources.
Examples include Patreon or building a private community for paid members.
f) Freelance Blogging
If you have good writing skills, offer freelance blogging services to other businesses. Many companies hire freelance bloggers to write for their websites, and you can earn by working with them.
g) Create a Course or Webinar
If you have expertise in your niche, create a course or webinar and sell it on platforms like Teachable, Udemy, or directly on your blog.
4. Grow Your Traffic
Collaborate with Others: Guest post on other blogs, collaborate with influencers in your niche, or participate in blogger round-ups.
Use Pinterest: For niches like lifestyle, food, fashion, and travel, Pinterest is a powerful tool to drive traffic. Design eye-catching pins that link to your blog.
Paid Advertising: Once youâve optimized your content and built some organic traffic, consider investing in paid ads (Google Ads, Facebook Ads) to boost traffic further.
5. Optimize for Conversion
Clear Call-to-Action: Whether it's signing up for an email list, buying a product, or clicking an affiliate link, make sure your blog has clear CTAs (calls to action) to guide your audience toward the next step.
A/B Testing: Experiment with different designs, headlines, and strategies to see what resonates best with your audience and leads to higher conversions.
6. Track and Scale
Use analytics tools (like Google Analytics) to track your traffic, identify top-performing content, and make data-driven decisions.
As your blog grows, consider outsourcing tasks (e.g., content writing, social media management) to focus on scaling your income.
Summary of Monetization Methods:
Affiliate Marketing
Display Ads (e.g., Google AdSense)
Sponsored Posts
Selling Products/Services (Digital or Physical)
Membership or Subscription
Freelance Blogging
Creating and Selling Courses/Webinars
By combining these methods, consistently producing valuable content, and growing your audience, you can turn blogging into a profitable venture.
Mimic Knight
Quick Preface: I wrote a story for a prompt on an old blog. I cannot find the post, so I'm rewriting from memory here.
The original prompt was "A mimic decided that life as an inanimate object is boring. So it disguised itself as a suit of armor and went on a quest. Now the mimic travels the world with a party of adventurers, slaying countless foes, looting dungeons and other adventurer things. People are waiting for a face reveal tho."
---
A year.
A year of learning to walk, not just to move, but to move convincingly. A year of learning how fingers worked, a year of learning how much rotation in a given joint was too much rotation. A year of learning how to eat through a small aperture at the top of it's form at a believable rate with it's 'back' to everyone, instead of just opening a seam down the middle into a yawning maw. A year of learning different Sign Languages to communicate. A year of learning the concept of Language and communication.
A year of fighting, of fun, and perhaps most surprisingly to the mimic that had been born in a Lich's lab and then tossed into the labyrinthine tunnel network below his tower to fend for itself for decades(long outliving the Lich itself), a year of friends.
And now it was in a building, a rarity these days to be sure, not entirely new. No, what was new was that it was expected to sign paperwork. The team was joining up with a Guild.
Bigger rewards, they said. More glory, they said. Help more people, they said.
It all seemed simple enough, but they never said anything about the identification cards.
The concept made sense, of course, once it was explained. Anyone could go around wearing a specifically-designed helmet and claim to be the silent warrior in full plate, but if it was going to join the Guild, they had to make sure no one was going to try and steal its pay.
It stood there, staring at the kindly-looking clerk who sat patiently, ready to cast a light-capture spell to inscribe it's image on the little card and their own records.
"It's always been shy," said the party's leader, her bassy voice rumbling with good-natured laughter. "Hasn't even shown it's face to us!"
"It's alright friend," the wiry, light-fingered rogue said from her elbow, turning around and waving for everyone else to do the same. "We won't even look! Nice an' private all 'round!"
And then it was just it, and the clerk, facing each other as it trembled. As it reached for the 'helmet' that surmounted it's 'shoulders'.
"Oh don't worry," said the clerk. "I can keep a secret~"
And the large coffer behind the clerk's desk opened just a little, with no one's hand upon the lid, and accepted the little piece of dried meat the clerk tossed to it with a silent tongue.
#drawing time(story tag)#mimic#better ending than it had before#not quite happy with it but it's been sitting in an open tab in my browser for like two weeks now#just take it
Digital Community and Fandom: A Reality TV Case Study
Digital communities and fandoms have been greatly influenced by reality television, resulting in a complex network of engagement that goes beyond ordinary viewership. Since the introduction of Web 2.0 technologies, viewers have evolved from being passive observers to active participants in show conversations, offering commentary on participants and conjecturing about the veracity of what they see. This discussion transcends private areas and reaches forums, blogs, and social media, where sites like Instagram and Twitter have developed into active hubs for fan interaction.
Particularly during reality shows, Twitter has become the preferred tool for live tweeting. Tweets' instantaneous nature makes for an improved viewing experience since viewers can express their opinions in real time. Hashtags that are used during broadcasts and host invitations to join conversations are what drive this connection. The website fosters a humorous community in addition to encouraging viewers to remark on episodes. Social media conversations are dominated by memes, puns, and GIFs, which let fans perform for likes and shares. Numerous humorous fan accounts are devoted to shows like Drag Race and Love Island, and viewers and cast members frequently join in on the fun by sharing jokes and memes.
Humor and self-referentiality are crucial components of the reality TV experience, allowing spectators to critique shows while developing a sense of community. But it's important to remember that these online debates are about actual individuals, whose lives may be damaged by the remarks made about them. Long after its initial broadcast, viewers may revisit their old favorites and carry on the discourse thanks to the growing popularity of these shows on streaming services.
Moreover, the rise of microcelebrity has revolutionized how people exploit social media. Reality TV competitors frequently communicate directly with their fans by avoiding traditional media channels and using social media sites like Twitter. The distinction between private and public life is becoming more hazy as a result of this change, providing views into previously forbidden "backstage" moments. Celebrities have the ability to show a more genuine side of themselves, but this entails balancing their subjective interpretations of their experiences with the factual depictions of events that are recorded on camera.
Reality TV will probably become more and more influential in online communities as it develops. Technology, comedy, and audience participation come together to create a dynamic environment that supports reality shows and their fan bases, illuminating the intricate relationship between digital culture and entertainment. In the end, this case study highlights how reality TV shapes online interactions, community building, and the dynamic nature of stardom in the digital world.
