Warrior of Light vs. Azem: Morrigaunt Givre vs. Kalos Kagathos of Amaurot
Son of a humble carpenter and a wounded footsoldier, Morrigaunt Givre started life as Marcelain Reverine of Hemlock, in a time when Coerthas was still green. Star-crossed love for a young Ishgardian nobleman gave him a meteoric rise to knighthood and the order of dragoons, then saw him fall all the way to the depths of Witchdrop when he shouldered an accusation of heresy to save the boy he loved. Revived by the miracle of Hydaelyn’s intervention, he stumbled out of the Coerthan winter in bloody pieces and convalesced in the care of Gridania’s healers under the new name of Morrigaunt Givre. Uncertain whether he was truly alive or dead, he took up adventuring and facing down primals to finally correct Halone’s mistake and settle the question once and for all by dying in the service of others.
A man defined by frigid loneliness, duty, and divine abandonment, the contrast between him and the sentient golden sunlight of his prior self could not be greater. Within him rests a soul of infinite warmth and kindness, open-hearted and full of joy, his heart unbroken because he lived and loved in a world unsundered.
Warrior of Light vs. Azem: Manami Bansho and Hephateon of Amaurot
Manami’s childhood covered the length and breadth of Doma on foot as she trailed behind her traveling healer father and studied bow and blade at her mother’s knee. Forced into conscription by Garlemald, her prodigious talent for armorcraft and smithing flourished further in magitek engineering, and she eventually became Mana jen Bansho under the auspices of Rhitahtyn sas Arvina. Following word that her father had been conscripted and killed by resistance forces in far-off Bozja, she defected by throwing herself and her prototype magitek weapons into the Rhotano during pitched combat with the pirates of Limsa Lominsa. Rescued and recruited, the pugnacious firebrand swore to never bend the knee or hold her peace ever again.
The burning embers within her echo back to a forgotten age, where a harsh and relentless researcher pushed every boundary of what was and what could be, eyes ever-fixed forward to shepherd and safeguard the hopes of all life.
Warrior of Light vs. Azem: Alethia Eclaircir and Aletheia of Amaurot
Thia is an Ala Mhigan refugee who grew up in Stonesthrow outside the walls of Ul'Dah. A laconic and dissociative but frighteningly gifted mage, she became a wandering adventurer and tried to spark some good in the world after her father was murdered by Brass Blades. A visit to the First introduced her to many new truths, including an aching vision of the gregarious diplomat and peacemaker version of herself in a world unsundered.
Once again watching the hunchback of Notre Dame and i am blown away by these songs and the incredible use of Latin and prayers in the lyrics. How is no one else obsessed with this movie???? Like, the Confiteor being interwoven with Frollo's self righteous prayer? "You know I'm so much purer than the weak licentious crowd" followed by "quia peccavis nimis", literally "I have greatly sinned"????? Come on guys. Then "it's not my fault, I'm not to blame, it's the gypsy girl" interwoven with "mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa", or "through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault"!!! Like the Latin prayer just emphasizes so clearly his hipocrisy and his incredible lack of understanding of what it truly means to be faithful to God.
COME ON CATHOLIC TUMBLR THIS IS RIGIHT UP YOUR ALLEY SOMEONE TELL ME IM NOT CRAZY.
