journey to self love
I'm starting a new series on my blog where I talk about my path to embodying self love and confidence. My journey started when I came across a verse in the Quran that states "Verily, we created man in the best stature (mould)" [Surat Al Tin: 4]. It caught my eye as it made me realize that self love is a divine message from my Creator, who is telling me that He made me in the best mould, so that every crevice and curve of my body is honoured. It taught me to accept the way I look. It taught me that my stretch marks and scars are not flaws, but rather a story of struggle and survival. It taught me that my body is mine, and that no one's comments on my body should be validated. It taught me that even if your shape isn't what's poppin in the media, there's no harm in feelin yourself and owning it. As cheesy as it sounds love yourself for who you are, because there's only one you.

This is so beautiful. She was bullied on the bus at school because of skin this and did this self love exercise. She’s so beautiful and I hope she realizes it. You’re a diamond young black girl. Don’t let anyone or anything steal your joy!

Nearly everyday we hear stories about Muslim people being escorted off planes for the reasons as stupid as “reading a book”, but then there’s these kind of stories…
The difference is the people in the last picture are white and not Muslim, so they don’t fall under the “suspicious” “could be a terrorist” category. it’s ridiculous how Muslims literally cannot wear their traditional clothing, speak their native language or just have a darker skin color.
Islamophobia must stop. Muslims should be able to wear their traditional clothes without being called terrorists. They should be able to speak their languages without being judged or escorted off planes. And white skin shouldn’t give you any extra power or privileges over other people!

This key belongs to the house that this woman fled from during the Nakba (catastrophe) of 1948. It symbolizes her right of return, it symbolizes the mere hope that she will be able to return to the village that she belongs to, till the land of her forefathers, and harvest its olives. This key symbolizes the resistance, to resist the Zionist agenda that aims to ethnically cleanse them everyday. It seems to be that every 2 years, we march in the streets and scream chants for change, yet not long after, we return to our routine and the cycle continues. Yet this is the reality that so many Palestinians face. With the rust and wear of this key, it is a reminder of the Palestinians tireless struggle for freedom, respect and dignity; and it is a reminder of the worlds failure to recognize this horrific reality.
