Ah~ thank you for your interest & praise, Anon! Plans are alas very much not a thing, at least on the irl end. Not in a ‘I have no motivation or plans to write’ way, but a ‘my life is not my own’ way, due to a longtime friend effectively taking over my house the last year+, and now stalling on moving out. Whatever ends up happening there, the timeline’s unknown, and the space and stable environment I rely on to write is 🤷‍♀️.

Queue me right now listening to them making noise in the kitchen for the third time tonight, checking tumblr since I can’t sleep.

It’ll work out eventually I presume, and as long as the solution doesn’t also cost me writing means? A Truth So Strong is my top likely writing priority. I’ve got detailed notes on every chapter left after all, and I’ve chipped away now and then at the writer’s block I hit in the next chapter back before all the household drama. I won’t make any promises on the sequel stories I’d imagined for ATSS at this stage given all the delays, but I have hopes of concluding ATSS itself sooner or later! Stand by.

EPIC early return au where the butterfly effect moment is just Athena getting antsy sooner, and little Telemachus being just as cute and convincing as his older self in getting her to seek out his father.

And she inevitably finds him just as he's doing something stupid like sailing out of the underworld, or accepting magic drugs from his divine great-granddad. And in either case, the Great Reunion in this version is just Owlthena swooping down on a very blindsided Odysseus with beak and talons and screeches of 'HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING'

You know, while contemplating story resolutions for the Hades II Odysseus that I could roll with? I considered revelations of guilt or denial, I considered potential reconceptualization of the situation and potential reconciliation with his family… I have not until this moment considered the possibility it is all just a ruse, and one, perhaps that Penelope is even in on. How that had not occurred to me before when it is both extremely in character and by far the most positive take I could imagine? I do not know.

Poor guy. 😢 I will allow it was probably dangerous to pass through land — just landing in Cicones was dangerous — and I don’t know if Odysseus was on good enough terms with any other Greek rulers to pass through their lands, but still. Hindsight says it would’ve been worth it.

But then, the Odyssey is just a list of ‘if onlys’ in the end. If only they had handled Polyphemus differently. If only they hadn’t even found his cave. If only Ody hadn’t given his name. If only he and Athena hadn’t parted. If only he had locked himself in a cabin with the windbag or something. If only the crew/Eury had the sense to WAIT and check the bag in case the wind story was true. If only — and this is a favorite of mine — Ody had handled Scylla differently, if only he’d washed his hands of them and bolted/refused to take back captain post-cow slaying—it’s all a mess. But I think about that as a point of tragedy/great fix-it opportunities, because I am here for the drama of every canon mistake.

Was curious how far Ithaca was from troy today while listening to epic the musical and rereading the illiad and I found this map
