hey so what do you think it was like showing up to your dream school that you picked because your Personal Sidney Crosby went there and you're in hero worship love with him then it turns out his not-so-secret-anymore boyfriend is actually your CAPTAIN and you're in the CLOSET and you HATE EVERYTHING??

Hi, hello! 👋
So, I'm on chapter 7 (of 12!) of John Rich and The Big Picture, and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has read this work-in-progress and has paid the laugh tax. (You don't actually have to pay it!!!!! THIS IS FREE!!!!!)
Nevertheless, it's a huge help. You've basically taught me how to translate visual humor into comedic prose. That is, you've let me know what works. (The bees joke, for example, was something I almost didn't include because it was too weird.) So, thank you! I'm so close to finishing this novel (hahah before months of revisions lmao) and I could not have done so without your help! Yahoo!

Quick update. ✨
Hi, hello. 👋
So. I've been working on something a tiny bit different—a m/m novel. (Yes, novel. Not a comic. I know.) It's a completely separate story from Check, Please!, but it's got the same humor, pining, and feel-good vibes that make #omgcp what it is.
It’s about John Rich, a 28-year-old cover artist for The New York Review, who’s tasked with drawing the gorgeous but seemingly vapid action star, Tyler Hughes. Problem is, John can’t seem to draw this dude. Then of course, shenanigans.
I've posted the first five chapters on AO3, and I've been updating monthlyish? (Remember how I never had an update schedule for Check, Please! ya...) If you're into funny, feel-good, lighthearted gay romance, do give it a read. Absolutely, no pressure. Just wanted to share what I'm working on that wasn't superheroes or semi-autobio YA.

#yes....YESSSSSS#in love with this from the delightfully rambling tags alone#“baking is garfield...what could she mean...is this a metaphor...?”

Check Please has a character that is aware that he's in a story as well as two minor characters who appear together, are frequently confused for one another, and whose ultimate fate is carried out off screen and mentioned only in passing.
Please imagine with me the post modern absurdist tale that explores the Check Please story, as well as the webcomic format and romantic comedy genre through the lens of how Ollie O'Mera and Pacer Wicks get together: "Pacer Wicks and O'Mera are Wed"

I just know that retired Jack Zimmermann does NOT play about pickleball.
#okay but consider: bad bob#hockey is too emotionally fraught for them so they share their father-son competitive athletic bonding time on the pickleball court

ollie's never kissed anyone.
okay, that's a lie. he's never kissed anyone he's attracted to. but somehow he doesn't think that one drunken game of spin the bottle in 11th grade really counts all that much in terms of experience.
fine, ollie's never kissed anyone that matters.
like, he'd like to, but he doesn't even really understand the mechanics of it, where to begin, how to even know if someone wants to kiss him back.
it's just a lot of things to think about for something that the movies have made to look so simple.
but in this moment, as ollie gazes down at pacer's lips, arms wrapped around him as they sway to the music together, all of those worries and fears and thoughts evaporate from his mind. everything with pace has been so easy; why not this too?
at worst? pacer thinks it's a little weird, but almost definitely won't stop wanting to be friends with him
at best? well, it might just be one of those show-stopping, hollywood kisses (unlikely, but, hey, ollie's thinking of the best case scenario here).
he chances one last gaze into pacer's eyes and then a glance at pacer's lips.
and then slowly, slowly, he tentatively closes the distance between them and every fibre of his being lights up.
