Ever since the release of The Most Beautiful Boy In the World documentary back at Sundance, I've been thinking about the future of this blog. This blog is almost 10 years old now and I really only started it because, back then, a lot of the previous sources about Björn went offline. I collect a lot of vintage magazines and have access to press archives, so I wanted to share those things with everyone.
However, Björn's image has been exploited for years against his will and it's caused him distress, something underscored heartbreakingly so in the documentary. I'm not sure how fansites dedicated to him don't fall under that same umbrella in some way, just by posting his images all the time. Some fans don't take that message away from the documentary, even if they feel sympathy for him and the way his life has played out. Just search his tag on a site like Instagram and look how many photo edits and Remini app disasters are spammed there, still focusing solely on his image and still treating him like some teen idol. Anyone can feel free to disagree and it doesn't really matter if so - this is just my own opinion being posted on my own blog. (Not knocking Instagram - there are a lot of lovely drawings & paintings of Björn on there if anybody is interested.)
Björn used to be a mysterious figure back in the early to mid-00s when I first became his fan. That's not really the case anymore. People have mostly just been interested in "whatever happened to him?" to just wanting to know what he looks like now (once again, focusing on his looks.) Those answers are out there now. I've tried to run this blog respectfully since day one, even though I've had to deal with messages from your average lame trolls to legit perverts that I have literally reported to the authorities. This blog has been only updated sporadically and while I still have a number of magazines I want to scan and translate, this blog will be going on hiatus and I encourage anybody who hasn't seen the documentary to find a legal way to view it and listen to Björn tell his own story.

'If he could speak to the young Björn would he advise him to turn down Death in Venice?
“I’d say, ‘do it, but take me with you’.”
Take the grown-up, responsible Andrésen?
“Yes. I wish that was doable.”'

Björn Andrésen was just 15 when he walked straight into the lion’s den, being cast as Tadzio, the sailor-suited object of desire in Luchino Visconti’s film Death in Venice. Its release in 1971 made him not merely a star but an instant icon – the embodiment of pristine youthful beauty. Sitting alone in Stockholm today at the age of 66, he looks more like Gandalf with his white beard and his gaunt face framed by shoulder-length white locks. His eyes twinkle as alluringly as ever but he’s no pussycat. Asked what he would say to Visconti if he were here now, he doesn’t pause. “Fuck off,” he says...
