Weekly Shounen Magazine Kaneshiro and Nomura mini-interview translation

So, I noticed their most recent interview hasn't been translated yet which is really sad since it gives so much insight. I took it upon myself to translate it.

Here's the full interview cuz I decided to skip the small talk.

Interviewer: In the most recent game, the character Barou Shouei got a lot of time in the spotlight. Could you tell us how you came up with the character?

Kaneshiro: Originally, I was planning on having him be Aomine from Kuroko no Basuke who had gotten bored of basketball and decided to pick up the more interesting sport, football. But my editor told me I couldn't take a rival magazine's character.

Nomura: Kaneshiro-sensei then asked me to redesign him into an original character. I'm really proud of my work. The editor absolutely loved him.

Kaneshiro: To get back at the editor, I made sure to give Barou a single W and then nothing but Ls against Isagi.

BL fact of the day

It is a requirement for every NG11 member to have a tattoo and wear makeup. Kaneshiro has confirmed that Sae uses mascara to make his eyelashes more visible and has stated that Sae has a tattoo on his buttcheek. Kaneshiro refused to specify which one it was.

Volume 29 cover leak

I got the opportunity to see the volume 29 cover thanks to my uncle who works at Kodansha. Since I couldn't take a photo, I redrew it from memory:

Fun fact, Kaneshiro mentioned that he plans on having Bachira be the first character to kill someone as a reference to Tasuku Kaito's only other relevant character, Kohaku Oukawa, who's an assassin. Originally Kaneshiro planned on the reference being Bachira having an arc where he's an idol but the editors said that was a bit much for a football manga.

Isagi's ideal birthday dialogue

In today's birthday event in the BL gacha, Isagi speaks with the player to tell them what his ideal birthday is. Here's a quick translation.

Isagi: It should be Noel Noa themed. I need the cake to be fondant au chocolat cuz that's the most famous French cake.

Isagi: I also need a corner dedicated to Noa's club team Bastard Munchen. I'm a big fan, so I'd also like little stands of everyone else. Noa's should be life-sized.

Isagi: Who's my favorite non-Noa member? Well, he's not on the main team yet, but I'd love to meet... Wait, why don't you guess?

Isagi: You don't know any of them besides Noa? Please tell me you at least know someone besides Noa in the French national team...
