Crazy story. ⠀ ⠀ So almost 2 years ago, I went to see Marc Lamont Hill speak in Harlem at Mosque Number 7 where he was also doing a meet and greet and book signing for "Nobody". He gave an amazing speech and afterwards, he fielded questions then took pics and signed books. I brought along with me one of my favorite tees that I've made as a gift to him because I respect his work and the positions he takes on Palestine, prison abolition and race relations. Moving on...I give him the shirt, told him what it said, took a pic, got my book signed and moved on. ⠀ ⠀ Fast forward to this past Monday. I tend to walk home from my office in Midtown East to home in Bed Stuy when the weather permits but I didn't really feel like it this day. It's a 7 mile walk over the Williamsburg bridge! After speaking with a young lady, she told me to walk because it was nice out. I caved in. ⠀ ⠀ So I make my way down 2nd avenue which takes me through the East Village to the LES to the bridge. During the walk, I'm on my weekly conference call with my Justice League fam strategizing as we do. As I'm walking through the village, I see Marc but then noticed he's wearing the same tee I gifted him at the mosque! ⠀ He was on a call and I was on a call but I had to interrupt and let him know that was my brand he was wearing while not trying to be completely rude, I asked him to take a pic for me which he agreed to. It was dope seeing a person who I feel represent the ideals and inspiration behind the design actually wearing it. I have been in a bit of a rut lately but seeing that really energized me to keep going and create things that best encapsulates me, my principles and others like myself. Dialogue with the great Harry Belafonte. Reposted from @jerryc1201 - I was beyond honored to share the same space with a living legend last night for the second time. Mr. Belafonte took time to not only bless us with his presence but also his vast wisdom and experiences while living in the moment of the Civil Rights movement. Some stories were sad and others were unexpectedly humorous but all were equally engaging. I could listen to this man speak all day.
