Ted slowly but surely adopts Jamie. On accident.

Jamie starts joining Ted for a weekly Sunday roast, which turns into outings to restaurants, museums, parks, and even on one occasion never to be spoken of again, a drug deal.

When the next Lasso family reunion comes around and it overlaps perfectly with a break in training, Ted invites Jamie to come with. The extended Lasso clan immediately take to Jamie, spending half the time giving him dating advice and the other half heaping more helpings of authentic Kansas barbecue onto his plate.

Ted and Jamie finally figure out what’s happened when Henry introduces Jamie to his school friends as his older brother and it just feels right.

For Jamie’s 30th birthday, Ted’s gift to him is official adoption paperwork.

He’s so clearly distressed when he’s told he did something wrong, especially because it’s Maria who told him he was wrong. The people of the town idolize him and therefore he’s rarely ever told he’s wrong or he’s done something bad, and so hearing that from someone he’s so close to, he’s immediately prepared to change to make it better

No because I have so many feelings about the party scene from tbol so here’s a lil snippet of the rest of the essay: people often fault Joaquin for being the selfish or misogynistic one of the 3 amigos, but he genuinely was never painted that way intentionally. He didn’t know that what he was saying wasn’t kind or correct, because that’s how general posada taught him to be. Posada was the closest thing he had to a dad, and therefore he followed everything that posada showed and taught him. So when maria came back (super educated and advanced compared to himself and the rest of San angel) and showed him something contrasting what he was told, he’s completely prepared to change his ways of thinking, not because he loves her, but because he trusts her to lead him in the right direction. It really bothered me that In the disney plus version of the subtitles for this scene, it’s written as Joaquin saying “uhh yeah.” After Maria questions what he said about women, even though it’s clearly not his voice and we can see the lips of the soldier (who is actually talking) moving. It would have taken 2 seconds of effort for Disney to make sure they captioned their movies correctly so Joaquin didn’t look like a jerk

yeah yeah! In the latin american spanish version, you can hear Joaquín saying "uh, i dont know" very softly, but it's still audible. Also his facial expressions make clear that he is genuinely confused and analyzing the shit he said that made Maria so mad. Also, although you can't really notice a real change until the end of the movie, Joaquín never says anything like that again
