Experience as a first-time voter in 2022
Gia Gernale
The first thing that came to my mind when May 9 came was unthinkable and I'm anxious. For the first time in my life, I'm going to choose a leader, not just a leader but a leader that can lead our country to be better and known as the other countries. We're going to elect a leader to lead us to be a brilliant country.
May 9 is a crucial day and I feel that it's my last day to live (just joking). I feel like I'm on a test where I don't know how to answer an easy question. My mind is blank and my hands are shaking because I'm nervous about choosing to elect an individual to become a leader or become a part of the government. You can bring a kodego of your chosen candidates, so it's easy to shade the circle of the candidates.
My mind is full of "what ifs" while I'm shading my candidates, For the past few years, there's always been news about cheating and the PCOS machines are not working, and some places are saying that they are going to manually count the votes, so there's a possibility that my vote could be replaced by someone I didn't vote for or my choice, so my mind is in chaos and I'm shaking. For the first time in my life, I'm going to elect someone, not just someone but a leader for 6 years of my life.
While I'm concentrating to shade my chosen candidates, I can't stop myself from listening to my surroundings. I hear random things about their candidates, especially in the president and vice president positions. They're so loud and talking non-stop and joking around about some candidates that they think are not fit for the position. They mock them like they are in the position to mock others.

Para Sa Bayan: Experience as a first-time voter this 2022
Maan Arranchado
On May 9, 2022, my family and I awoke at 6 a.m. because we needed to be at school early so we could complete everything right away. We needed to find the room where we would vote, but there were still many people when we arrived at Pres. Corazon C, Aquino Elementary School So it took us three or four hours to vote Because we searched for your name for almost one hour and thirty minutes and we stood for almost 1 hour to fill up the ballot. It was exhausting, but it was worthwhile since we survived that day.
As a young and new voter, it is difficult for me to choose candidates to be elected to the county since I am unaware of what is going on in the country, and I am unable to watch SONA. Election I'm thinking if I just imitate my family who they will vote for, that's also who I'll vote for but one day I thought I'm 19 years old now I must somehow know something about what's going on in the country so I watched news and fact check because I must have my own determination and thinking to vote for what I want if I put it to govern the country. We should not copy others because the good of the country rests on us, so vote wisely.
This election saw an unprecedented turnout of young people. Our effort, however, does not stop at voting. Youth must continue to organize and speak out. We must continue to study and develop into the community leaders we have always respected. If you notice a change that needs to be made, don't wait till you have a degree or a title to make it happen. Act immediately and talk immediately. Your opinion is as important as everyone else's at the table. Your work and courage are required, whether you contribute new ideas or carry the flame that has been passed down to you.

Bistek, I Like It
Maan Arranchado
The song's beat and the BISTEK are catchy, thus Herbert Bautista's campaign promotion was picked. I had last song syndrome (LLS) while seeing this campaign by Sir Herbert Bautista because the Bistek line struck me, and I appreciate the song's beat since it makes me dance due to the vitality of the sound. My nephews are dancing to the campaign Sir Herbert Bautista conducted for his senate involvement, so it's simple to remember the music, especially the dance. And I can compare Sir Herbert Baustista's campaign to a canned commercial because he appears to be the same in a food commercial or the new flavors of canned food since other candidates'
campaigns demonstrate what they have done or helped with. However, Sir Herbert Bautista showed the hall video is the cuisine of "BISTEK."
I also liked the dance step in the video, and I saw in the campaign what he would do as senator like "internet, Kabataan, Trabaho, at Pabahay" and introduced him as "Matalino, Magaling, Makamasa at Subok na" always perfume for the masses such lines but because I have heard a lot that they have "Subok na madaling malapitan" but when they have won. Other promises are no longer fulfilled, or if they are, not all of them have received assistance. I am not a hater, but this is something I see frequently, so as a first-time voter, I investigated what they contribute to our society.
Making a jingle is to identify the candidate who will run, and we all know that the Jingle of the candidates must be appealing to the hearing of the people because the jingle made by the candidates is to be remembered by the people, such as Ma'am Leni Robredo, Sir Bong Bong Marcos, Sir Kiko Pangilinan, Ma'am Inday Sara Duterte, and other candidates. But it's not like the campaign jingle is good, we always stand there, let's look at what he has given to the country,
and will he be able to fulfill his duty in the position he entered in politics since I didn't vote for Sir Herbert Bautista despite the catchy tune.

“Everyone, young or old, has the freedom to choose their own candidate.”
Mark Gatarin
I’m not a registered voter yet, but I do have a stance for my candidate. I do have concern for my future and for my country’s future. I was supporting Presidential candidate VP Leni Robredo, but unfortunately, her vote was too far for his opponent. I'm disappointed with the election results, but I have to respect the majority. Right now, I'm still supporting VP Leni Robredo and will continue to do so until the next election if she decides to run for President again, and at the time, I was a legitimate registered voter who supported what I thought was right. I observed that the other party's supporters are mostly old men and women who experienced the old era of Marcoses. But whoever wins, I hope they’ll be a good leader for this country. Some people say minors' opinions don’t count because they aren’t voters yet, but I think that mindset is wrong because we are talking about our future, which we minors belong to. This was also for my generation's future, so we have a right and our opinion matters for this election. Here are our voices, let us choose who we want to choose. I chose VP Leni Robredo because of her track record and because I find her a hardworking person, and I believe in her. She did many things with or without the pandemic, and she fulfilled her role as a Vice President of the Philippines. She also had a nickname, "Leni Lugaw," which she does not deserve; she is simply carrying out her duties as Vice President, and she received judgment as retaliation. I’m not a voter but I need to care for my future, not just me but also the other people, so I'm living longer and choosing wiser.

Why is it important for the youth of Barangay Batasan Hills to be involved in the 2022 national and local elections?
Mark Gatarin
The 2022 election will have a big impact to the youth not just in the Barangay. Batasan but all over the Philippines so we need to get involved for out future choosing the best and most done something for his/her country leader so that the youth of Barangay. Batasan done some background study about the achievements and Credentials of candidate that will be the leader or our Barangay and the whole country. Every Pilipino has a right to choose their president but everyone will be affected if the leader did something wrong so the youth of Batasan Hills will be involved in this election. I, the writer of this article was not a voter yet but I choose to support this one candidate who done many things not just in his hometown but also in other places here in Philippines especially this pandemic, some discriminate her because of her gender they say WOMEN can’t lead but I know they’re wrong I have a mother and she is the best leader that I have. Every WOMEN has more leading skills than MEN, WOMEN always think before deciding things, they do things with caution and it become perfect, WOMEN is stronger if they overcome their weaknesses. The Youth of Batasan Hills has high intelligence quotient so they know what to do before choosing their candidate they know what to find to his/her candidate and the youth of Batasan hills is not a judger and not just discriminating other because of their gender they have care for their future, SO BE A STRONG PERSON WHO HAVE A HEART A PURE PILIPINO WHO CARE NOT ABOUT HIS SELF BUT ALSO FOR THE WHOLE COUNTRY.

“Why is it important for the youth to be involved in the 2022 national and local elections?”
Gia Gernale
For the first time, registering voters and being a youth are important for the local and national elections. As a youth, we have a say and an obligation to choose what's best for them in terms of rights. As part of the election, we, the youth, need to dramatically analyze the platform they have. We need to see the platforms that they will offer when they are elected to the government, whether local or national. We also need to investigate the background thoroughly. We also need to investigate more carefully so that we know their background and lifestyle. I wonder if everything they did when they were not elected is true or just a facade to attract people. We deserve the best leader in terms of leadership, and we can afford that if we investigate deeper and stop looking at some sites that spread fake news about the candidate. We don't have any idea if some of the candidates are being manipulative and two-faced. We choose because our future depends on it. We decide and take responsibility, for we are responsible for the outcome of what we choose, so we really need to think about the steps to take before making a decision. We don't want the next 6 years of our life to be miserable, poor, and being trampled on by other countries because our choice to be leaders is a disgrace to our country also. Let's choose our president not just because they are famous or who they are famously connected to. Let's choose the one that suits us and has greater value for our future, not only in the youth but in all constituencies. Being a youth is important, but so is caring about the environment, because not only will the president you have chosen benefit you, but all of us.

Analyn Agpao
When the election comes around, I am eager to register that day. We had been waiting in line for a long time to register at SM North, but due to the long line and the fact that many people were already waiting late at night to register, we gave up and returned home. I’m excited to be able to register, but I don’t really have a president yet. I'm undecided. At first, but when the election was near, even though I had not been able to register, my president was VP Leni Robredo. My friend asked, "Why is VP?" I said, why not? He is the only one who qualifies to be the president of the country. I could not even vote because I was not registered. So I just went with my mom to Batasan Hills National High School to vote, and there I saw and found out how to vote correctly. We have the right to vote for whom we think should be president, and we must respect the decision of the people around us, regardless of what it may be or who they will vote for. Picking a good leader is also picking good governance. Having a good government also results in having a good establishment, which also refers to having a good job, good universities to pursue careers, and job opportunities to continue the career that we choose. All the choices that we make have an impact not only on me, to my family, but also on the people around me. It will be good or bad. That's why the phrase "choose wisely" was created. In order for us to not regret the choice we have and the decision we've made. After the election, there was some disappointment with the election results. But I just choose to respect the outcome and accept it.

Analyn Agpaoa
As young people like me who want to see our government, our country, and our economy improve. We should be involved in these types of topics, which also have a big impact not only on my future but for future generations. It is important for us young people to be part of the elections because we are not only picking the best leader or representative of our country, but we are also picking the right person that will hold our hopes for a good future. I know we have the saying that "you are the one who's doing your future; you are the one who's creating it." So you are the one who is responsible for your own good. “I do understand that, but the privilege of having a good leader has a big impact on building and creating a good future. How could you build a good future if the people who are in the government are not doing their job to have good governance? The point is, picking a good leader is also picking good governance. Having a good government also results in having a good establishment, which also refers to having a good job, good universities to pursue careers, and job opportunities to continue the career that we choose. All of this comes first by picking a good leader for our country. All the choices that we make have an impact not only on me but also on the people around me. It will be good or bad.

"My Testimony about my experiences and thoughts as a first-time voter during this 2022 national and local elections"
Cherry Mae Fuentes
Testimonio
When I reach my Legal age I always thought, I’m an adult now and I want to prove it aside from that I acknowledge my responsibilities as a citizen of this country and to act on this knowledge I want to be a registered voter. July 1, 2021 the day I was processing my appointment to the COMELEC around SM North and was given a date to finalize my application on July 29, 2021. When the day came I was hesitating to attend my appointment because I was scared. It was my first time exploring the city alone. When I reached In front of the COMELEC building I saw a lot of people, the majority of whom were youths. The process was done smoothly even though I spent 4-5hrs in the line and then afterward I gained more eagerness to dwell about the politics.
When the representatives announced their candidacy into National and Local positions. I do a background study among the candidates who are unfamiliar to me and focus most on their track record, platform and educational background. Those candidates who I’m familiar with and have been on negative issues are not on my list and I lost my interest to do a study for them. Because I don't want my time and my vote to be wasted for those kinds of candidates. But there's one representative who’s in prison but not convicted that will surely gain my vote. I also ask some questions to Auntie about the Local Candidates because I don't have enough knowledge about the city representative. It takes me a huge amount of time to finalize the candidates who I will vote for and show my support for them.
Being a voter of the 2022 Election I will never forget those tons of people who show their love for the country especially those 14million plus kakampinks who fight for the country. And the happiness I experienced attending an event for VP Leni called “Hakbang Para kay Mama Leni” held in our area, Batasan. While enjoying the event, seeing the eagerness and the hopefulness of the people around me makes me shout and jump also. The day of the Election has come. I woke up at 6am to prepare myself because I was assigned to vote at Pres. Corazon C. Aquino Elementary School. I start on the line around 7am and quarter to 10am I finally enter the building . I vote smoothly because I brought a list of my candidates as my codigo and happily there are no issues while I’m voting.
After the result, I feel so sad because Filipinos choose popularity over quality and our country loses the most qualified candidates. That sadness brought me to attend the last Leni-kiko event held at Ateneo De Manila University. Even though I had to walk because there was no transportation from Philcoa down to Ateneo, I did because I knew my hope was there. And that tiredness vanished after I heard and saw VP Leni with a thousand kakampinks with me.

“Why is it important for the youth of Barangay Batasan Hills to be involved in the2022 national and local elections?”
Cherry Mae Fuentes
Editorial
Over half of the voters in this coming 2022 Election are youth. According to CNN Philippines more than half of the 65.7 million voters in the country are between the ages of 18 and 41, the Commission on Elections said . Official voter statistics show that the youth will play a huge role in deciding the next Philippine leader. A total of 37,015,901 fall under the age bracket, accounting for 56% of local voters.
Throughout the Decades we youths have been rejected, we are not taken seriously, and adults look down on us as if they're always right. We are not given a chance to speak our thoughts, rights, and our knowledge. If we speak they called us NPA's, Red-tagging was always behind those youths who are vocal. Stating the facts will be seen as vandalism. We have this toxic culture Idolizing the play victims and romanizing poverty. We youths have the power to end this toxicity. In this coming 2022 National and Local Election, we play the majority of the roles, youths of Barangay Batasan Hills and all fellow youths around the country, our future is on the line of this catastrophe. It was principal to criticize the representative who will serve, to make sure that by this time we will be heard, we will be addressed, and we will be given a stage to stand up freely to share our voice about the issues of the country and foremost to protect our rights
The majority of us are using social media and we already have this knowledge determining the facts or not, we can access the truth information easily, of that knowledge we can use it to educate others, especially the adults who are not given a chance to manipulate the media because they are the first victim of fake news evolving around, we cannot let close minded adults to destroy our future because of their Ego’s.
Youth your participation can empower to play a vital role in our development as well as our communities. Helping yourself to gain more knowledge about your rights and human rights to promote positive action. We are not just fighting for our future, we are fighting for our Nation and to the future generation. This was our role as youth of today's generation.
If we do not step up, who will step up for us?
