To the Filipinos messaging me today over the ongoing election results (and for the foreigners to be aware of our political situation),
I feel you — this is humiliating, painful, and devastating. A legacy of dictatorship back on the seat of power, over hundreds of reported bribery and cheating cases with evidence, an election committee with their own preferred people, actors and abusers over human rights lawyers, history forgotten and rewritten.
But let's never forget that we're on the right side of history. My first vote was for someone with the best possible credentials and character, along with a colorful senatorial team with great campaigns.
We'll grieve this time around, but let grief turn to anger and let anger turn to hope for a better future.
I'll always remember how every university banded together for her; how professionals and celebrities chose her and her team. I'll never forget the flash mobs singing peace hymns in malls, markets, and streets; the house-to-house campaigns where my friends ventured to the most unreachable places; the sports games where everyone wore pink instead of their school colors; the crowded rallies where food and water were passed around, and not a single wallet was stolen.
We turned a political campaign into a movement for change and love — and I'll always be proud of that. We made the right choices. We did what we can. That, in itself, shows promise for our future.
For brighter futures, laban lang, Pilipinas! fighting! 💗

I rarely post anything original (or political) on Tumblr, but this is one of those moments where I can't sit by.
----------
The people of the Philippines need international coverage now more than ever. We're at the risk of letting the son of a dictator sit at the president's seat. We're at the risk of another Ferdinand Marcos (Jr.; nicknamed BongBong Marcos/BBM) Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the dictator that declared Martial Law, which caused 3,000+ deaths, 34,000+ tortured (in so many different horrific ways), 70,000+ to be imprisoned, and hundreds of billions of pesos* to be plundered for their greed.
(Pesos = PH currency)
It would have been very different if the son acknowledged and denounced the crimes his father had done to our people. It would have been different if he paid his estate tax (203B afaik). But he hasn't. He refuses to acknowledge these things. And so we risk history revisionism. We can't allow our history to be changed to suit these people's desire.
The dictator has been dead many years already. But his mother still pulls the strings. His mother, Imelda Marcos, who has over 3,000+ pairs of expensive shoes, who so badly wanted to have an animal "oasis" that she had her husband's military force a village of 450+ families to leave so that she could use that land for the animals. (Which, by the way, they shouldn't even be there. Those animals were bought with a portion of the Marcos' ill-gotten wealth)
The Marcoses fled with their ill-gotten wealth when the people of the Philippines finally decided to fight back during the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986. They were exiled to Hawaii. They were permitted to return to the Philippines in 1991 by then-President Corazon Aquino so that they may face the charges being placed against them. Marcos Sr. died in 1989, before the family was permitted to return.
Imelda unsuccessfully ran for president a year after returning, but lost (thankfully). But her children BBM and Imee Marcos both won seats in the House of Representatives. Then later they would both win seats in the Senate. Bear in mind, neither of these children ever denounced their parents' evil doings. They always called for fake news.
And now, more than two decades later, we're at the risk of Marcos Jr. becoming president. The elections are being rigged as his sister, Imee, is the current Chairperson of COMELEC*. The appointees of COMELEC right now are all appointed by current President Rodrigo Duterte, whose daughter, Sara Duterte, is running for Vice President under the same camp as BBM. Yet another political dynasty.
(COMELEC = Commission of Elections)
They're apparently "done counting" over 80% of the votes when, oh-so-coincidentally, there are hundreds of voting machines that are apparently malfunctioning, so many missing/broken SD cards, and vote buying. Not to mention the hundreds of people in multiple precincts that still haven't even voted (I could be wrong as of now, since I'm posting this a day late)
As I type this, tens of thousands of my people prepare to march once again in protest against these rigged decisions. They're being red-tagged* as terrorists, even though people are peacefully walking, standing for what's right.
(Red-tagged = being identified/tagged and put under a terrorist watch-list)
Please. If you can, spread this message to as many places as you can. We're all still fighting so hard to prevent this from happening. We need the Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilingan camp to win. They're the only ones who can keep these two from winning. We're desperate.
Please.

On Monday—9th of May, 2022—I am voting for Leni Robredo to be the next President of the Republic of the Philippines, and for Kiko Pangilinan to be her Vice President.
This is genuinely the first time I don't feel like I'm supporting and settling for a "lesser evil" candidate.
I believe—with my whole dang heart—Leni and Kiko are the very best of the candidates. By far.
They are—honest-to-god, hand on heart—genuine public servants.
So I'm going to the voting precinct on Monday not only with a clear conscience, but also teeming with hope.
And whoever you're voting for on Monday, I do hope you're able to vote with as much certainty in your choice of candidates, and the ideals they stand for.

HIRAYA MANAWARI FOR LENI-KIKO
Tumblr media
Even in the smallest ways, we want to support and cheer for our tandem that we believe and trust to change the governance in our country in the best ways. The elections are a week away and we remind our fellow Filipinos through our network to learn each candidates' background, platforms, and credibility and vote wisely and for the better of our country.
Para sa ating kapwa Pilipino at para sa ating minamahal na Pilipinas!

We only have a week left before election day in Philippines. If you are a Filipino and a registered voter, please dedicate your time to do research on who to vote for. Our economy is in the hands of our future president for the coming years. This shouldn’t be about your personal interest, this is about the lives of 112 million Filipinos.
Look at their accomplishments, have they kept their promises as a public servant in the past? Their track records, achievements and educational attainment are one of the factors that can qualify a President, not their “surnames”. Are they corrupt? Do they pay their taxes? It’s not too late to change your mind. Vote wisely.

It's election day in the Philippines.
It's a race between two people.
We have our current vice president, Leni Robredo. She is a female public servant (even before her government position) with no record of corruption and the highest rating from the Commission of Audit. Before becoming a vice president, she used to be a lawyer in the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) - an organization that handles pro bono cases for those who need it. As the VP, she also is usually the first one to show up when calamity strikes.
Then there's Bong-Bong Marcos. He is the frontrunner based on the surveys these past months: the son of a former dictator. A former senator. No solid platforms. Tax evader. A spoiled child who screams that he was robbed of the Vice President seat last elections -- a position that Leni Robredo won fair and square against him. He demanded a recount, and ended up proving even more that the People chose Leni Robredo.
2016, We chose Leni Robredo. 2022 we MUST choose her again.
Now vote counting machines are failing. They won't print out the receipts that you need to double check if the machine registered your vote correctly.
If this anomaly aids the success of Marcos, I swear to god that I will take to the streets.
I will not allow the future of my Motherland to be run by a spoiled liar who never grew a pair of balls and whose main goal is to cleanse his family's name by feeding us revised history and disinformation.
It is not the future that WE, Filipinos, deserve.

it's Cain here. i'm back for a bit.
to the Filipinos, to my Filipino followers.
i know. i know it's hard. it's difficult to see the partial count results. it's okay to cry, it's okay to feel angry, it's okay to feel sad, it's okay to feel hopeless.
i'm here. your Kuya/Ading Cain is here. i'm sad, angry, and devastated too. grabe, nakakaiyak. i'm in the restroom crying because i can't let my family see just how affected i am. (they're that kind of Asian family.)
things will definitely change after this month. and it might become difficult to adjust, and to let everything sink in.
but there's still hope. the official count is starting, and we can still call the odd things out. we have our voices, and we can use them. let's speak up for what's right.
to the adings, the youth of the Philippines:
i am so proud of you.
you showed that you truly are the hope of the nation. you are wonderful kids, and you all stood up for what's right, for change. change for the better.
everyone, just feel what you're feeling right now though, okay? let's be careful with what we post for now. you're free to rant under this post of Kuya/Ading Cain, okay? no toxic comments. no bullying.
there's still hope, kababayan. sana mapanalo natin to, para sa Pilipinas.

I can never hate the common folk who are underprivileged, and voted for the plunderers, and murderers. As marginalized groups, they're mostly vulnerable, and susceptible to the decades long disinformation, and fascist propaganda fueled by the Marcoses, and their cronies; and with the socioeconomic status of the country, there are little to no systems in place to help in upholding their common good.
While the internet is readily accessible to some, there are still a vast majority which don't have access to it. Even education is seen as a luxury for some in extremely remote areas.
However, the educated, the people outside of the country and the privileged in general who still voted for known plunderers, and murderers can go to hell. I hope you're ready to face the consequences of your actions, because believe me when I say, I won't stop at nothing to remind you of what you've done. Congratulations! You have become an accomplice in the continued oppression against the marginalized by selling out the youth's future, and the country's growth to inflate your ego. I hope that the ghosts of the martial law victims haunt you when you sleep.
I also don't usually say this, but if your life becomes miserable in the upcoming years, then you deserve it.
On another note, I've seen some people give up when they saw the unofficial results. I've seen some tweet how hard it is to be a Filipino, and how hard it is to love the country. I've also seen some planning to leave the country.
This may sound hypocritical seeing as I'm living outside the country, and I know it's not just me, but just know, I have never once thought that the Filipino people, and the country are hard to love. Even if they get tired of speaking out, as long as I have a voice, I will speak against the things that are wrong, and I won't ever shut up. I will continue to fight for what I think is right, not solely for me, but for the people without voices, for the interest of the country, and most importantly, for the futures of the youth.

00 POLITICS : Break Until May 10, 2022
This is something really important to me 😙
Taking a Genshin break in favor of the ending election season for my country (I'll still post shorts and brainrots but the pre-election anxiety is real!)
I've mentioned this a few times that I utilize all my socmed platforms when it comes to advocating social issues, Tumblr is no different (as much as I want to make it my happy place 🥲) this has to be the pinnacle of my digital advocacy life.
In a few days, the nation will be choosing between a dictator's son and an active woman leader. This doesn't seem like a hard choice at all, except, the tides are turned against us.
I am a Leni-Kiko supporter, and I also believe that several of the senators under their party are qualified leaders who believe in human rights and compassion.
So please, if you are a Filipino, if you have Filipino friends, or you know an eligible voter in the Philippines, take the time read through some of my upcoming posts! I'll make sure to make them short and entertaining without the anxiety politics gives :)
And if you're a foreigner, you're even more welcomed! Awareness is important!

Election anxiety has caught up with me, and yes, I do avoid politics as much as possible on my anime social media, but to be honest having a dictator's son as a presidential candidate vs an economist-lawyer who's million years ahead in qualifications as MY president is something I didn't expect to be anxious with, but here we are.
And yes, I'm voting for Leni Robredo as President and Kiko Pangilinan as Vice-President.
