[ APRIL FOOLS — Gift for Sal ❤️ ]
“Pasta Primavera Majoris,” Steve blurted out, eyes narrowed at the blurry stars casted over head, trying to discern whether or not he was hallucinating the giant connect-the-dot plate of spaghetti and meatballs.
Startled laughter filled the quiet night air, pulling Steve away from the confusion to face Jonathan and Eddie who were giggling away as if Steve had said the funniest thing in the world. “What? It’s a fucking Italian constellation!”
“Fucking Pasta Primavera!” Eddie laughed loudly. “Where the fuck did that come from?”
Steve’s cheeks flushed and he looking towards Argyle for some form of moral support, “Doesn’t it look like pasta?”
Argyle lifted his gaze towards the sky, humming lowly before nodding, “Yeah, bro, that’s a big plate of pasta.”
“Oh my god,” Jonathan giggled, his head dropped down, hiding his face. He could barely hold his bong, and Steve momentarily wondered if Jonathan smoked way more then he should have in the past twenty minutes.
“No, no,” Eddie waved his hand, nearly dropping to blunt. “I don’t give two shits if it looks like a giant dildo, I wanna know where you got the fucking name from!”
Steve shrugged, “Dunno, man, just kind of popped up in my head — hey, Argyle, do you still have some of those brownies?”
Argyle grinned, reaching into his bag and tossing Steve a pack, “Careful, man, I don’t know how much weeds infused with it.”
“It’ll be fine,” Steve said, pulling out a brownie and breaking off a piece, just to be safe, especially since they were still passing around the bong and apparently Eddie’s freshly rolled joint.
“You know, it looks like an intellect devourer,” Eddie said.
Steve paused, frowning as he glanced at Eddie, “A what now?”
“It’s a monster from DND,” Jonathan explained. “It like eats your intelligence or something? I can barely remember what Will said about it.”
“Oh,” Steve hummed, narrowing his eyes at the sky, trying to imagine what in the absolute hell an Intellect Devourer was. Was it like a brain parasite that jumped on your face and made you brain dead?
“It’s a brain,” Eddie added, before pausing thoughtfully. “It has legs and tentacles. Creepy shit, dude.”
“Cerebrum Cacophony," Steve said.
Argyle leaned forward, staring at Steve in stunned amazement, “What about a constellation for a weed leaf?”
“Cosmic Kush,” Jonathan jumped in, handing to bong to Eddie. “I think that’d be a cool name.”
Steve pursed his lips together, nodding. “It’s cool, but is it funny?”
“Does it have to be funny?”
“Nah, but I don’t know,” Steve chuckled as his train of thought ran away from him. “I was thinking of something like Stellar Stash System. That’s not funny either, damn.”
“No, wait, hold on,” Jonathan said, sitting up. “Follow me here, man. The system is basically just this giant rolling paper guiding intergalactic travelers on a journey through an trans-dimensional trip.”
It was quiet for a moment, before Argyle spoke, “I got no clue what you said, but that sounds like a fun time.”
“Is that what Star Wars was?” Steve blurted. “I feel like that was trip that you needed to be high to fully enjoy.”
Eddie shook his head, leaning his head down, lighting the bowl of the bong and taking a slow inhale before lifting the bong and breathing in the smoke. He held it for a minute before breathing out, the smoke lingering up into the night sky. “There’s way too many intense moments for it to be a good trip.”
“Fuck, you’re right,” Steve groaned. “Fuck the Rebellion, honestly.”
“Dude — Steve, are you an Empire Supporter?” Eddie asked in disbelief. “You, of all people?”
Steve stared blankly at him, “I will never forgive them for what they did to Anakin.”
Eddie stared blankly at him, before snorting loudly, “Holy shit, you’re a nerd!”
“Look, Dustin got me into the movies, and I found out there were books! I liked the Ewoks, and stayed for Daddy Darth.”
“Daddy Darth!?”
“Holy shit, Steve!”
“Seems like you got a thing for the dark side,” Argyle joked.
Steve rolled his eyes, shoving the small piece of brownie into his mouth, “Yeah, it’s why I used to let flesh monsters take a chunk out of me — major turn on.”
“Imagine becoming a high ranking commanding officer just because you got your dick hard for Darth fucking Vader,” Eddie cried.
“I’d be the prettiest commanding officer, thank you,” Steve rolled his eyes. “Padme would be jealous.”
“She’d be fighting a losing battle,” Argyle said seriously. “You’re a very pretty man, Steve.”
Steve ran his hand through his hair, a cocky smirk on his face as he winked at Argyle, “Back at you, babe.” He held the look for a minute before bursting out into a fit of giggles, Argyle joining in with him a moment later.
“Okay, wait, while I agree that Stevie here is very pretty, I regret to inform that Padme would very much win that battle,” Eddie argued.
“What do you think Jon?” Steve grinned.
“What the hell happened to talking about constellations?” Jonathan instantly changed the subject. He glanced up at the sky, “That looks like a worm — Luminescent Locomotion of Lumbricus!”
Steve snorted, starting to randomly sing off-key, “Wormhole Wiggle, it's out of control. Stars all a-wriggle, in a cosmic stroll. So grab your spacesuit, and prepare to giggle, As we groove to the rhythm of the Wormhole Wiggle!”
“Did you just make a jingle?” Eddie exclaimed.
“He mentioned a space worm — why not a wormhole?”
“Steve’s over her fighting the jock allegations,” Jonathan grinned lazily.
“Hey, I never said I wasn’t smart,” Steve huffed. “I just pick up random information and then it just gets stuffed into my brain like a parasite. Let me tell you, I know way more lore and theories about Garfield, the fucking cat, then I would really care to know.”
“Oh man,” Argyle grinned. “Please impart your words of wisdom. I fucking love Garfield. He’s like, I don’t know, a kindred spirit.”
“You do work at a pizza place,” Steve nodded seriously.
“How is that correlated at all?” Jonathan asked.
“Because pizza and lasagna are both Italian?” Eddie suggested.
“Actually,” Steve piped up, changing the subject again, “Lasagna is a Greek dish, technically. We might not know who first made it, but there’s like a common noddle in Ancient Greece called a laganon, so it’s completely plausible that it’s a Greek dish.”
“Steve,” Eddie said, after a long moment, “I don’t know how much my heart can take of you needing out on us.”
“Oh shut up,” Steve huffed.

Every Baby Needs a Daddy 7
Part 6
The idea of sharing space on a tour bus was a little daunting, even though Steve had met the rest of the band. He was glad to see how big it was, and especially glad when Eddie led him to the back of the bus where the bedroom was. It had a bed big enough for two, but that was about it. It was more than enough for him.
"The boys will be bunking on the pull-outs out there", Eddie jabbed his thumb back to the rest of the bus.
They were setting out for the first destination on their tour, New York, which would take them about half a day to get to.
"Can't believe I get to go on tour with you. I feel like an actual groupie."
Eddie hopped onto the bed and laid on his side. "You gonna toss your underwear to me?", he grinned.
"Why would I? I already got on the band's bus", Steve smirked, hands on his hips. He glanced out the bedroom door to where the rest of the band was pretending not to be interested in their conversation.
“And they’re really okay with giving us the only actual bedroom on the bus?”
“Sweet thing, they insisted”, Eddie said, laying back to spread out on the sheets. “I think they’re enamored with you.”
Steve beamed as he sat on the edge of the bed, lasting only a few seconds before Eddie grabbed at him. Joy bubbled forth from Steve and he didn’t even mind if Jeff and the others heard Eddie macking on him right now.
“I’ve never been on a tour bus before.”
"Well allow me to give you the official welcome", Eddie said before rolling Steve onto his back and kissing at his neck. "We got hours to ourselves, baby."
"Oh, whatever will we do?", Steve sighed.
Eddie rose up on his hands and knees to look down at the gorgeous man under him. And just in time for the bus to lurch forward and make him fall over the side of the bed with a yelp. Grant came to the door.
"You guys, uh, want this closed?", he asked, ignoring Eddie crumpled on the floor.
---------------------
For about the first hour, Steve watched the scenery go by the window and Eddie went over the basics of their itinerary. Starting from New York, they'd be cruising down the east coast.
"It's probably not as grand as the worldly traveling you've done before but I intend to show you a good time", Eddie promised, tracing the lines in Steve's palm.
"Actually, I haven't traveled all that much", Steve admitted. "When you're raising up a proper omega, you can't just let them loose unsupervised. I've been to California and Washington a couple of times with my parents but besides that..."
"Then I'm really gonna show you a good time."
"You can start right now. Bus isn't stopping for a few hours, right?" Steve pushed Eddie onto his back and rolled on top of him. In preparation for this trip both of them had been tested and been given a clean bill of health. Steve's cunt was already clenching at the thought of finally getting Eddie's bare knot. Of feeling his cum coating his insides.
There was something primal about it this time, as Eddie was fucking Steve. Not in any way that was ferocious or intense but in the setting and situation. Grant, Jeff, and Gareth had only great things to say about Steve, seemingly already accepting him as a pack omega. Being given the only private space on the bus, this room was like his own personal den, admittance to him and his omega only.
With his best friends just outside the door, surely knowing what they were getting up to even though there was plenty of noise to cover it, it was like they were sentinels guarding. How could his hindbrain think of this as anything less than a breeding session?
Steve was on his hands and knees, arching his back as Eddie thrust into him. He had started out trying to be quiet, but was sobbing now, begging Eddie not to stop.
Delirious with desire, Eddie started biting at the moles on Steve's back, leaving marks of his own. When he got to his neck, he put his teeth away but nudged at Steve's mating gland. A move so bold and unexpected, it had Steve crying out as he milked his cock. Eddie's teeth itched to sink down and make it official but he bit into Steve's shoulder instead, almost but not drawing blood.
He was still thinking about it hours later, when they arrived in New York and started preparing for the show. Tonight was just rehearsal and sound check for the real thing tomorrow night. Steve wanted to go and even pouted to get his way, but Eddie was certain he'd be bored and not so subtly told him about the hotel's spa.
After a massage, he went into the sauna and saw that there was another omega already inside.
"Did your alpha miss?", she asked the moment he sat down.
"Hm?"
She tapped the bite mark on his shoulder. "Did he miss?"
It wasn't proper to ask about bite marks in any capacity, only for the own of such marks to offer if they felt the information relevant.
"I don't have an alpha", Steve said, though it felt wrong to say.
"So just someone who's keeping you for now?", she asked.
Steve thought about it. Between the gifts and traveling and shopping, he was being wonderfully kept. "I suppose so."
"You must be new at this. I'm Heather. Can I offer you a bit of advice?"
"Steve and um, sure I guess."
"You can't let your generous sponsor bite you like that. The next one that comes won't like it. Might even give you something more permanent just to compete."
"You've had a lot of... 'sponsors'?", Steve asked.
"Mostly CEOs, an actor once. You?"
"He's a musician."
"Really? Anyone I know?", she looked intrigued.
Steve thought about how he'd known zilch about Corroded Coffin or Eddie before meeting him, but then remembered how his attention on the latest music trends was also next to nothing.
"You might. I'm not actually sure how popular they are." He hadn't seen the venue to know how many concert attendees to expect.
"Oh, well, you know what they say. If they haven't got a million than a half will do."
"Right", Steve gave a half-hearted laugh. It had him thinking for the first time if he'd be into Eddie at all were it not for the money. If all he had to offer was that one drink the night they met...
Steve thought about how they'd spent a decent part of the trip discussing chocolate chips versus chocolate chunks and how they'd gotten the rest of the band involved to the point where they had to make the bus stop at the nearest grocery store. It felt safe to say that even without the money lining his pockets, Eddie would have charmed him some kind of way.
That night, they got in bed early but were awakened by the sounds of the others coming into their hotel suite to make breakfast.
"And how did you know we weren't in the middle of coitus?", Eddie flicked a grape at Gareth.
"That was a chance we were willing to take", Jeff said.
Eddie was shirtless, walking around in Garfield patterned pajama pants. Steve had the decency to put one of the hotel's bathrobes.
"This is a CC tradition", Grant said. "Breakfast before the inaugural show of a tour. Then dinner after the last one."
"Everyone shows up, no exceptions", Gareth said.
"None?", Steve asked, accepting a mug of coffee that Eddie had made.
"One time Jeff got into a brawl right after the show. We had our dinner at the hospital", Eddie said.
"Well I'm honored to be a part of such a hallowed tradition", Steve smiled at the implication.
Day turned to night and they arrived at the venue. Steve looked out into the vast sea of empty seats and imagined them filled with screaming people. Eddie gave him a quick tour of backstage and even let him come up on the actual stage itself.
"Can't believe you actually perform like this, I could never."
"Oh I was born to entertain", Eddie grinned. And tonight, he planned on showing out. It would be Steve's first time, seeing and hearing them live. His blood pulsed as the hour got closer.
Show him my talents. Show him I'm worthy. Worthy to be his alpha.
Steve was all set up in the green room but of course had a pass that allowed him to roam backstage if he pleased. The boys also used the space to get ready for the show and he saw that they all had a pin with a horned red demonic head.
"What's this?", Steve asked, fiddling with the pin on Eddie's vest.
"Something from our old high school club. Keeps us from forgetting our roots."
"That's...really sweet." They'd known each other for so long. Steve was realizing how incredible it was that he'd been allowed into the fold like this.
The show finally started and at first, Steve watched a feed from the green room. He'd listened to a few songs but it was still a surprise to hear the way Jeff growled into the mic. It was hard for him to take his eyes off Eddie though. And soon, watching from a TV, no matter how clear the image was, wasn't enough. He put in the earplugs Eddie had given him and he left the green room.
Like a magnet, he went to the wings of the stage, still mostly hidden, but he could see everyone in the band from where he was standing. The crowd was a sea of energy and Eddie looked like there was no place he'd rather be. That is until he caught sight of Steve. His feet were frozen in place now but his hands kept moving against the guitar.
Steve bit his lip, thinking about how those same fingers moved on his body and made him sing in much the same way. Tonight he was going to give this man the ride of his life. His thighs rubbed together just thinking about it and Eddie's eyes caught the movement. Then his gaze met Steve and Steve just winked coyly.
The song ended and both of them were brought back to the present moment. Taking a breath, Steve took a step back and returned to the green room. It was a lot, being right there. He couldn't imagine how it must feel to actually be on stage. The concert went on and after thanking their fans for a stellar time, Corroded Coffin bid them good night. Eddie was the first one through the door which was good because Steve had been standing right behind it.
"Well?", he asked, wrapping his arms around the omega.
"You guys were great! Incredible!"
"Aw shucks, you're just sayin' that", Gareth smiled.
Steve was saying something in response, but Eddie only caught part of it. He was always keyed up after a good performance and needed something to help him burn off the extra energy. Usually in the form of an after-party or sex. He nuzzled at Steve's neck, holding him close. He did good. Steve thought he'd done good. No, he said great. Incredible. Steve had even come to see him with his own eyes. And he'd gotten turned on watching him play, Eddie knew it. He'd responded to his call.
"Are you, are you scenting me?", Steve asked quietly.
Eddie paused. They always carried each other's scent for a little while after sex, but this had been more purposeful. Eddie finally recognized the familiar itch under his skin and pushed Steve away, nearly throwing him at Grant.
"I gotta go", he said, leaving the room quick as lightning.
"What was that all about?", Steve asked, looking to the others. But they were just as confused as him.
Chrissy came in just about a minute after, her face like stone as she closed the door behind her. "The schedule's going to need some adjusting", she said. "Eddie just went into rut."

is it casual now?, pt. one
dumb love, i love being stupid, dream of us in a year. maybe we’d have an apartment and you’d show me off to your friends at the pier. i know, “baby, no attachment,” but we’re… knee deep in the passengers seat and you’re eating me out, is it casual now?
“but like… why not just tell him?” robin asks. they’re laying on their backs on steve’s floor, side by side, legs tangled together while a fleetwood record spins out the low sounds of stevie nicks’s voice. “you’re already banging, so what’s the point? you’re practically dating.”
“what? no.” steve replies, taking one last hit from the joint they’ve been passing back and forth before handing it back to robin so she can drop it into the ashtray near her elbow. “it’s not dating. it’s strictly sexual.”
“you’ve never in your life been strictly sexual with anyone,” robin snorts.
steve scowls. this is kind of a sore subject for him because yeah. he’s never done this casual thing before and he’s never really wanted to. he doesn’t even really want to now.
he’s silent for so long that robin’s perfectly capable of understanding exactly what he’s thinking. “oh,” she breathes out. “oh no.”
“stop, please. it was mutual.” steve doesn’t even sound convincing to his own ears.
“okay. yeah. sure.” steve hates how much she sounds like she’s trying to placate him.
“it’s really not a big deal. it’s fine. we’re having fun. i’m having fun.” steve’s embarrassed by how rehearsed he sounds.
“yeah, no, totally. for sure.”
they lay there without speaking again for a long time after that.
~*~
“god, you’re so cute, stevie, cooking me breakfast.” steve’s standing in front of the stove in his kitchen a few days later when eddie comes up behind him and wraps his arms around his waist, nuzzling into steve’s neck. steve can’t help the smile that spreads across his face.
“don’t get too used to it,” steve tells him, plating the first batch of french toast. “woke up early enough to eat before work for the first time in, like, three months.”
“well i appreciate it,” eddie says, letting steve turn in his arms. steve can’t help himself; he leans in for a kiss and eddie returns it enthusiastically.
eddie’s never spent the night like this before. usually he’s out of the house before steve wakes up in the morning. most of the time he leaves before they even have the chance to fall asleep together. steve tries not to take it too personally. eddie’s a busy guy and what they’re doing is nothing serious. eddie had been sure to make that clear the first few times they’d seen each other naked.
steve tries not to read too much into it as eddie takes the plate from his hands and pulls himself up to sit on the island countertop just across from where steve’s leaning next to the stove with his own plate. he tries not to get his hopes up but he can’t help the flutter in his chest and the butterflies in his stomach as they eat breakfast together before he has to go to work. he tries his best to ignore the pull he feels toward eddie, the way his hands itch to plant themselves on eddie’s hips and pull him in. he pushes down the disappointment that arises when eddie changes out of the sweats he’d clearly taken from steve’s dresser drawers and back into his own clothes. he ignores the tiny little pang in his chest when eddie says goodbye and leaves, even though steve has to leave for work in ten minutes anyway. he tries to ignore the little voice in his head that points out that eddie doesn’t even kiss him goodbye.
~*~
it goes on like that for a while. eddie starts spending enough nights at steve’s house that steve can’t help but become hopeful. he has his own green toothbrush sitting right next to steve’s red one on his bathroom sink. his hair has started to smell like steve’s shampoo. eddie’s stopped insisting that they’re just casual every time steve leans in for a kiss. sometimes they don’t even fuck, they just fall asleep together watching a movie, with the tv playing softly in the background.
steve’s not delusional. he knows that it’s not a relationship. but that hope is back and he’s helpless against its forces building inside him every time he says goodbye to eddie at his front door. his t-shirts have started going missing, ones with hawkins high emblazoned across the front, ones that he knows robin wouldn’t be caught dead in. eddie’s the only one who could be taking them, but steve can’t figure out why he’s being so secretive about it. he still hasn’t been able to catch him at it. but it has to mean something, right?
steve starts to let himself fantasize about what could happen if he just confessed to eddie. if he just admitted, once and for all, that he’d never wanted to do this whole friends with benefits thing that eddie’s been insisting on. he’s not totally sure that eddie would be a hundred percent receptive, but it’s only happening in his own brain, so he can have the ending he wants for now.
“jesus, dingus, what the hell is going on with you lately?” robin asks, sounding irritated as she comes to stand next to him behind the counter at family video. “i’ve been trying to get your attention for ten minutes.”
“what? sorry.” steve drags a hand across his face. “just thinking.”
“oh really,” robin snorts. “about what?”
“just…” steve sighs. “remember when we were talking a few months ago?”
robin raises her eyebrows at him.
“i mean, you know. about eddie.” his voice drops into a whisper at the end, as if eddie might be hiding behind one of the vhs displays, even though it’s a tuesday morning and the two of them are alone in the store.
“oh. yes. i remember.” robin sounds just a tiny bit apprehensive.
“well… i think something’s changed.”
“changed? how?”
“i mean, he’s started sleeping over my house a lot more. sometimes we don’t even… you know. have sex.” he whispers the last two words, looking over his shoulder. “i think he’s stealing my t-shirts.”
“okay,” robin draws out the second syllable, elongating the ‘a’ sound, making it clear that steve has to be a bit more specific.
“do you think he… i don’t know. do you think maybe he wants something more? like, maybe to date? or like, whatever.” steve runs a hand through his hair nervously. this is the first time he’s admitting he wants something more out loud.
robin considers for a long moment. “honestly, i don’t know. i’ve never made it past kissing anyone before.” steve’s shoulders slump. “but there’s only one real way to find out.”
“how?” steve grunts, even though he already knows the answer.
“you gotta talk to him, man.” steve groans. “i know, dingus. it sucks.” she reaches out to rub his back, an attempt at comfort.
it almost works.
~*~
steve thinks about it for a few days. about three weeks ago, eddie had started kissing him goodbye every time they parted ways at steve’s front door and he hasn’t missed a goodbye kiss yet. that has to mean something. it has to.
it’s a movie night—eddie’s choice—when steve finally gathers the courage to say something to him.
“can i talk to you?” steve says, sounding far more confident than he actually feels. he’s pulled his legs up under himself on the couch and turned sideways to stare at eddie’s profile.
“um, yeah,” eddie replies a bit distractedly, eyes glued to the tv screen as he reaches for the remote next to him. he pauses the film and only then does he turn to face steve. he smiles, dimples showing. “what’s up, stevie? i don’t pause the thing for just anyone.”
that makes steve feel a little less nervous. it feeds the hope in his chest. he runs a hand through his hair. “okay, well. i was thinking about, like, what we’re doing.”
“what we’re doing?” eddie tilts his head to the side just a little, looking confused.
“yeah, like. you know. you’ve said you want to keep things casual but i was thinking that maybe we could…” steve trails off, unsure of how to continue.
“we could…?” eddie prompts, but he’s starting to look a little apprehensive.
“i mean, i know you said that you don’t really do the non-casual type of thing or whatever, but i was thinking like. i don’t know, that we could, like, go on a date? maybe?” steve hates how unsure he sounds at the end, how his voice turns up at the end.
eddie just looks at him for a long moment. “i thought we were on the same page, steve.”
okay, he’s not ‘stevie’ anymore, but maybe this is just a miscommunication.
“we were,” steve responds, swallowing hard. “i mean, we are. i think.” then he corrects himself. “or, uh, thought.” he looks down at his hands for a second and takes a deep breath before speaking again. “i really like you, eddie. and i want… i don’t know what i want but i know that i like you a lot. and i don’t want to be just friends who sleep together.”
“so,” eddie speaks slowly, still looking just a bit confused, “you don’t want to sleep together anymore.” he doesn’t really say it like a question, more like he’s not really all that surprised.
“no, i mean…” steve’s feeling just a little frustrated with himself. “i like that part. that part’s, like, really good. i just… i want more than that.” he runs his hand through his hair again. “i… i guess want to be your boyfriend.”
eddie laughs then and it makes steve’s chest feel hollow. eddie must see something on steve’s face because his laugh cuts off abruptly. “sorry, man. you’re serious?” eddie sounds almost disbelieving. steve can only nod, his throat tight. he definitely does not want to cry in front of eddie right now. “oh. well. um. i don’t really…” steve’s heart drops and the little bubble of hope that had been building since that first time eddie had stayed for breakfast abruptly bursts. “i’m sorry, dude, i genuinely thought we were on the same page. i’m not—that’s just—” eddie clears his throat. “that’s just not really something i want.”
steve has nothing to say to that. he supposes that eddie had been honest from the beginning and that he was the one who hadn’t been truthful so he can’t even really be mad.
“right,” steve responds, avoiding eddie’s eyes. “sure, okay.”
“i think i’m gonna go for now. but i’ll see you around, okay, stevie?” steve’s eyes snap up to eddie’s face and eddie’s eyes are wide and panicked. he looks like a cornered deer. a part of steve can’t help but feel sorry for putting that look on eddie’s face.
“yeah, okay. see you.” steve tries to smile at him, maybe to reassure him, but eddie doesn’t even look at him as he gathers his shoes and keys before leaving.
once eddie’s gone, steve sits there for a long moment, wondering where he’d gone wrong. maybe he should have waited until a little bit later, when they were upstairs tangled up together and he could distract eddie with kisses. maybe he should have waited until breakfast, when eddie’s soft and sweet, warm from sleep. maybe he shouldn’t have said anything at all.
steve turns off the tv and goes upstairs to bed alone for the first time in a while.
there’s a part two already half written so no worries, i only write happy endings (except that one time).

King&Prince 9
Steve sprinted so quick and fast, his instincts narrowing down and only allowing him to hear his panting breath, beating heart and the forest rushing around him. He needed to hide, to get away. He'd just slapped him.
He slapped King Edward.
If being a royal from an enemy kingdom wasn't grounds for execution, striking the monarch definitely had to be. Steve hadn't a single weapon on him, he didn't stand a chance in a fight. But if he could get far enough, if he could catch his breath and come up with a plan of action...
Heights
He could get up high. That would give him some time. At the next tree, he began to climb. Up higher and higher until he thought he was far above enough that the king wouldn't immediately find him. Now that he had a moment, he breathed in deep and then out, going slow and taking in his surroundings.
All he could see was dreary greenery. It almost looked like he was back home. He put a hand to his chest, willing his heart to calm down. What were the odds of a random townsperson knowing his face? If he was to escape and get back home, now was the time. Going back home like this wasn't really what he wanted, but he literally had nowhere else to go. His father might consider him a disappointment, but he was still a prince. Barring any surprise children, he would one day inherit the kingdom and that's what this was all for.
He didn't belong anywhere else, certainly not here.
There was the sound of something moving through the trees and he tensed up. It was probably just birds, but he felt as though he couldn't be too sure.
"Come down Little Prince~", the king's voice sang from below.
"Shit!"
"No sudden movements! You'll tumble right down."
Steve looked down and was just barely able to make out the king's form. It also made him realize just how high he'd climbed. He got dizzy just thinking of it and closed his eyes, trying to ground himself.
"I'm not coming down!", Steve shouted.
"So you're just going to live there now? What do you really thinks going to happen if you leave the tree?"
Steve thought about what would happen if someone had ever struck his father. He pressed his hands into the trunk. If he had ever put his hands on his father, instead of the other way around.
"You alright up there, Harrington?" When he didn't get an answer right away, his brow pinched. "Hey! Talk to me, are you okay?"
Steve took a breath. "I'm not going down just to be killed!", he finally said. "Not by you, or by anyone else here."
Steve didn't hear the sigh come from the king. He didn't hear much of anything besides the rustling of leaves as something slowly moved upward. He wasn't surprised when the king rose up and sat on the branch next to him.
"You could've come up here the whole time", he said.
"Just one of my many talents", the king said.
"So why didn't you?"
"And have you flail around and break your neck? You seemed pretty opposed to touching me."
"You're a monster", Steve said quietly, almost as if he didn't believe it anymore.
Eddie thought about how no one was coming for Steve, and for the first time he wondered what sort of monsters he lived with. He had to tell him. Tell him that his kingdom had forsaken him and that if he tried to return, it wouldn't be to fanfare.
"Let's get you out of this tree", he said instead. He held out a hand, hoping the prince would take it.
Steve looked down and hesitated before reaching out and grabbing it. The king pulled him close and slowly they lowered them down to the ground. Steve let out a breath when he felt the solid dirt beneath his feet.
"I'm sorry. For hitting you earlier. I was just...I don't know, but I'm sorry."
Eddie was surprised by the apology, eyes wide and it even took him a moment to respond. "What, that? Barely a tap. You'll have to do better than that."
He released Steve and started walking back to where they'd left the horse. Without a word, Steve followed. He could hear something out in the distance, and just knew it was those grayish-white creatures from before, probably on all sides. When they got to the horse, Eddie untied it and mounted it first. This time, Steve took his hand to help get up and he put his hands on the king's hips before they took off.
It was easy to imagine that he was riding along with a regular person. Flesh and blood and bone just like his own. When they got back to the castle, Steve's stomach finally spoke up and he thought that now would be a good time to have lunch, seeing as it was late afternoon.
He tried turning towards the kitchen but the king took his by the shoulders and turned him another direction.
"Go down this hall and to the left to the infirmary", he said. "Have your foot checked out."
"My what? It's fine."
"I could just make you", the king warned.
Steve went, not feeling like being carried again. He went in and found Dustin there, getting his arm wrapped up.
"What happened?"
"Max was testing out her homemade anesthetic on me and it, uh... worked."
"Did she cut you open?!", Steve exclaimed. How had these kids survived for this long?
"You know Eddie's going to give you all hell when he finds out", the man patching up Dustin said. "And then he's most certainly telling your mother."
Dustin grimaced. "I hate that he's such a tattle tale. What's the harm? She didn't even cut that deep?"
"And how may I help you?", he ignored Dustin and turned to Steve.
"The king said I should get a cut on my foot checked out?"
"Lucas told me about that. I can't believe you fought with Nancy, do you have a death wish?", Dustin asked. Once his arm was all gauzed up, he beamed. "Thanks Bob."
Steve removed his boot and sat down so that the bandage could be removed and looked at.
"So what did you and Eddie do today?", Dustin asked, loitering now.
"Um, nothing? I wasn't with Eddie today", Steve said. He tried not to move as dried blood was cleaned but it slightly tickled.
"Robin said she saw you riding off with him."
"I went off for a ride with King Edward, not Eddie", Steve said.
Dustin and Bob shared a look, then turned their gaze back to Steve. They didn't speak, like they were waiting for him to realize something, but it never came.
"Steve...Have you never met Eddie?", Dustin asked.
"No. I literally just got out of that dungeon and since then I've been worked like a dog. The only people I've seen are you and your friends, that kitchen staff...the king...does Eddie work in the kitchen?"
Bob was about to say something, but Dustin tugged his sleeve so hard it threatened to rip.
"This is gonna be so funny, we need to do it in front of everyone."
Part 11 coming soon

Eddie stares down at the plastic doodad. It proudly declares the word ‘pregnant’ on the little screen, cheerily oblivious to the fact that it's just ruined Eddie’s whole fucking life. It’s a word as well, the actual fucking word, ‘pregnant’ shown oh so confidently on the little screen. Eddie’s done a test before, one time when he had a scare as a teenager, that had been the sort that showed one line or two.
One lines for not, two for...are. Two would have looked like prison bars, which would have been ironic given being saddled with a pup is probably pretty equivalent to 25 to life.
Anyway. Eddie shakes it. Looks again. Throws the fucking thing in the bin.
Well fuck.
Eddie contemplates, very very briefly, getting rid of it. His mind and body recoil from that thought the same way it would from, like, rotted tuna. Or someone else's puke. Or like...salad.
Eddie’s Omega’s got a lot of needs and no Alpha willing to fill them. Eddie gets by, fobbing his Omega off with with a couple of short term friends with benefits arrangements and the odd one night stand. Mostly his Omega can’t tell the difference between having an Alpha and having any Alpha, so he makes do. It scratches the itch.
Unfortunately, that means this pup could have been fathered by any one of three dudes, and Eddie doesn’t have a fucking clue which of them it would be. Eddie would really rather not it be Alpha A, Alpha B is a piece of work with a big dick, and what's behind door number three would be potentially catastrophic.
Anyway. Eddie makes a decision at two am in his apartment bathroom, and it starts with two text messages, an email, and a phone call.
“Thanks for doing this so on the spur man,” Eddie tells his landlord as he hands over the keys. Ex landlord. It was only a room in a shared place. Had to share the bathroom on this floor with two other dudes, but, meh. It had been perfect for what Eddie needed, and more importantly, within Eddie’s budget.
His whole life is sitting in the back of his van, barely filling a third of the back. Which is ideal really, made clearing out quick and easy and Eddie’s uncertain about weather or not he should be doing any heavy lifting right now.
He makes three stop offs before he leaves for good, shifting the very last of his product at discount prices. He mournfully throws in his last two boxes of cigs with the last deal; going cold turkey is going to be the opposite of fun, but Eddie’s in it to win it, and he’s going to try his best as of right now.
Wayne already has the door open when Eddie hops out of his van, beer in hand, eyebrow raised, “heya old man.”
When Wayne sees Eddie dragging bags out, he lifts the brim of his cap, puts it back again, and heads inside. Eddie sees him move a couple of things out of Eddie’s old room, and although it’s empty and the bed is stripped to nothing, it’s untouched, “how long you back for?” Wayne asks him, offering a beer.
Eddie looks at the offered bottle, dripping condensation, and very pointedly doesn’t take it “so, about that.”
There’s a long drawn out moment, and Eddie’s sees the realization dawn, “oh Ed.”
“You like kids!”
Wayne sighs, pulls Eddie into a hug, “I just hope they sleep better’n you did. Don’t think I can go through that again.”
Eddie snorts a laugh into Wayne’s shoulder, all relieved. He hadn't doubted for a second that Wayne would back his play, Wayne's always been unshakably team Eddie, but to hear it said in no uncertain terms is still a huge weight lifted.
Eddie’s got a slightest curve of a bump, small enough that it’s not nearly noticeable yet, especially with Eddie’s usual wardrobe. To go along with his bump, he’s got a scan booked at the Omega Health place, an insatiable craving for garlic mushrooms, and a job.
An actual honest job. Alright, a temp job, because he’s pregnant and no one in their right mind is going to hire a pregnant Omega for a full time permanent gig. So he is, conveniently enough, covering maternity leave for a beta girl at the record store. But that doesn’t matter right now, the moons aligned, and Eddie jumped at the opportunity. He’s going to have a secure pay check for the next seven or so months, and right this second, that’s what counts.
He can’t drink. He can’t smoke. He can’t do drugs and he’s most certainly not going to party. Eddie does the next best thing he can think of; he goes to the library. This is his reward now, his fun, his safe space; he’s going to reward himself with a good book. A good free book.
Turns out registering himself for a library card is a ten minute thing, and then he’s done, bit of plastic in hand, he wonders the shelves looking for the fantasy section. He rounds the corner into the main room only to find a dude reading and signing along to a bunch of little kids. He has the book propped up on a thing to keep his hands free and the pages open so the kids can see.
He’s encouraging them to sign along with a bunch of the words.
He has good hair...like, really good hair. There’s something familiar about the guy that Eddie can't place...until he does.
Holy fucking shit. That’s King Steve.
And he’s in a library...wearing fucking gold rimmed spectacles and a sweater vest.
And he’s hot. He’s still hot. He laughs at something and leans forward to help a toddler with the placement of her chubby little fingers and Eddie’s ovaries fucking explode.
He walks away. For self preservation he walks away. He forgets what he just saw because there was no way it was real. He’s been going through a dry spell, hasn’t got laid since he moved back to Hawkins and now he’s seeing mirages of his high school crush, that’s all.
That’s all it can be.
Until Eddie goes to the fancy scanner machine to check out his little pile of four paperback fantasy books and a deep Alpha voice is asking if he needs anything and he’s, like, right there. And he smells of library and Alpha and whatever nice thing he washes his fucking sweater vests in.
Jesus.
“No,” Eddie squeaks, “I’m okay.”
“Eddie?” Steve frowns at him, tilting his read and looking over the top of his glasses in a way that should be fucking criminal, “Eddie Munson right? I thought you moved away?”
“I have. Did. I mean, I did do that. Previously. Back now. Clearly.” Shut up shut up shut up and Steve can probably smell his embarrassment because he’s standing closely enough to clearly scent Eddie and Steve’s senses must be absolutely pinpoint because his eyes drop to Eddie’s stomach, then spring up to his neck. He frowns, like, the tiniest bit.
Eddie’s pregnant, and unmated, and Steve’s clocked that in about four seconds flat which, great. Humiliation complete.
But Steve’s face clears as quick as it had clouded, the whole thing passing so fast Eddie’s now not even sure he saw it, “so it’d been cool to catch up, you wanna wait a minute, I’m just about to have lunch?”
“Errr…I mean. I wouldn't want to impose or anything-”
“Steve!” And holy shit, if Steve is the ghost of Christmas past or some shit, the second ghost just rocked up in the form of Robin fucking Buckley of all people. Eddie doesn't even understand why they’re even friends, Steve was a topnotch jock and a total fucking dickwad, and Buckley was a band nerd.
This makes less sense than Steve’s sweater vest.
“Yeah, come on Eddie, lets go sit outside,” Eddie gets tugged along in their wake, somehow, and ends up sitting on a bench outside in the sun.
Robin had a bag of take out in her hand which she gives to Steve, and he takes out a carton of something that instantly makes Eddie’s mouth water, Eddie looks back up in time to catch Steve widening his eyes at Robin, tilting his head off to the side sharply in silent gesture for her to fuck off over there. She signs something, real quick. Steve nods.
Eddie doesn’t know a single lick of sign language, but he's pretty sure that even if he did, what happened was so fast he would have missed it anyway, “so, Eddie, great to see you, but I, shit, pretty sure I’ve left the...stove on.”
Eddie frowns at the take out and back to Robin but before he can point out what a steaming pile of bullshit that is, she’s already power walking off and shouting, “byyyyeeeeeeeeeeeee.”
“I, ah, got garlic mushrooms and broccoli and some stirfry-”
It’s too late for Eddie. He’s done. Stick a fork in him. He has no idea what’s happening here but he zones in on the garlic mushroom part of that like a heat seeking missile. A secondary part of his brain is screaming loudly that the Alpha has provided, the Alpha wants to share his food with Eddie. Alpha Alpha Alpha.
Eddie takes the container and the bamboo spork thing Steve hands him, “sorry, I never get chopsticks, no fucking clue how to use them.”
“I can show you,” Eddie says, without thinking it through or registering the implication or stopping to swallow, which means he just spoke with his mouth full of food.
“I’d like that,” Steve tells him, “when can I take you out for dinner?”
Which, Eddie’s brain does stall out there. Because. Well. Lots of things. But he was pretty certain Steve had clocked his specific circumstances earlier, but now he’s not so sure, “I’m pupped,” his mouth supplies without his permission, so he shoves a whole thing of broccoli in there to try and stop it happening again.
Steve hums, eating his beef thing very neatly, “no bite though,” he points out, and Eddie makes an agreeable noise, “maybe we can fix that,” Eddie nearly chokes.

It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.
decolonizepalestine has tons of information on Palestine’s history/propaganda that has been spread throughout the years
UK citizens can email their MP asking for a ceasefire
US citizens can call/email their local government officials asking for a ceasefire
Jewish Voice for Peace also has many resources for ways for US citizens to get involved, including protests
Donate to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund
Donate to Medical Aid for Palestine
Donate to help get food and hygiene kits to Gaza

STWG Daily Drabble 10/14/23
Prompt: Addams Family AU
Mike has been annoying the hell out of Max lately. Brothers, even honorary through your mutual babysitter, are just like that she supposes. Still, his latest failed attempts at making friends (with squirrels and stray dogs) have resulted in him clinging on to her more than usual, and if she sees that striped shirt assault her field of vision one more time she might just snap. Luckily for Max, Mike is just lonely and perhaps stupid enough to go along with whatever sinister plan she has in store.
“Sit here.” She commands, leading Mike into a worn wooden chair. She secures his arms and chest with leather straps and places a metal bowl atop his head. Mike, all too happy to comply, just continues asking questions about the stranger who recently showed up on their doorstep.
“But if he’s not Uncle Tommy, who is he?”
“Someone else.” Max crosses the room to a panel of switches and pulls one down. “It has to warm up.”
“Why?” Mike asks, curious and cheerful.
“So it can kill you.”
His tone doesn’t change to fear or panic, rather the insistence of an annoyed sibling as he says: “I knew that.”
Just then Steve comes up the stairs, his arms folded in concern. “What are you shitheads up to?”
“I’m going to electrocute him.” Max says.
It almost looks as if Steve might protest this. Instead he simply says: “But we’re late for Eddie’s show.”
“But Steve!”
“I said no.”
Mike looks at him from his chair and begs, and well, Mike has never said please in his life, so it’s no surprise it softens Steve until he says “Oh, alright. But I get to watch.”  And he does. Max flips the switch and they watch with delight on their faces as volts of electricity course through Mike’s body. After a moment he goes limp and Steve checks his pulse, offering a thumbs up and a nod to Max to let her know she didn’t actually kill him. That would ruin the fun. They have much more torture to explore.

Prompt: Balcony (Discord Drabble) Still on the Rockstar!Eddie train (something silly, I promise).
Steve awakens to the sound of the mid-morning bustle of the resort he and Eddie are staying in, a warm breeze from outside drifting across his back. He turns over only to get an eyeful of Eddie standing on the balcony buck naked, coffee in hand.
He chuckles, bounding out of bed and reaching for the fluffy hotel-branded robe he has been living in for a few days now. The luxury suite was a freebie from the hotel chain, a thanks for Corroded Coffin partnering with them on their next tour... or something.
Steve doesn't really pay attention to all the promo stuff, only the goods that come with it. And if Erica is a-okay with any contracts Eddie runs by her (even though she isn't a music industry lawyer), it's good enough for him too.
He creeps out through the open French doors, moving silently until his right behind his partner. He snakes his arms around Eddie's middle, squeezing him tight and snickering when he jumps – ever the skittish one.
"Aren't you worried someone will see you?" he asks, swiping away tangled locks of Eddie's hair so he can press a kiss to his neck.
"From up here?" Eddie squawks, chopping his free hand through the air, "No way."
"What about those paparazzi telephoto long lenses?" he wonders aloud, "Think I can see one down there."
He points to a very empty series of perfectly manicured bushes. Eddie stills and lowers his sunglasses, squinting for a better look.
"Better go cover up," Steve whispers, nipping at his earlobe, "Gotta protect that modesty... dude."
He wiggles his eyebrows as Eddie grumbles away and disappears into the suite to put some damn clothes on.

@flufftober prompt: enemies at first sight @eddiemonth prompt: cavalier 2.7k | rated: teen tags: "enemies" at first sight, misunderstandings, idiots to idiots in love, first kiss, demiromantic eddie

Tumblr media
Eddie wouldn't go so far as to say the first time he bumped into Steve Harrington, it was enemies at first sight, but it was a close thing.
He was just trying to get to his professor's office hours, when they collided right outside of Professor Click's office. It sent the pen Eddie had in his hand flying across the hallway in the opposite direction.
And he hadn't even apologized, this guy. He just kept it moving, like Eddie was the one who was in the way.
Eddie went to get his pen and turned back to find this guy inside Click's office, asking questions about the homework. The only reason Eddie's a little bitter about it is because he was kind of there first, right? He would have made it there before him if he hadn't brushed past him like he was the only person with places to be.
And then he'd had to wait his turn, taking his headphones off and listening to this guy ask the exact same questions he had about the assignment, Professor Click's voice too low and the sound of the air conditioning too high for him to catch what she was saying.
So he was annoyed. That this guy had just basically cut him in line and didn't even apologize for it.
And what's that one phenomenon where it's like once you notice something, you keep noticing it?
Whatever it's called, it's happening to Eddie right now. He runs into this guy one time, and now he's seeing him everywhere.
Once Eddie notices Steve, once he literally bumps into him trying to get to his calculus professor's office hours, it's like he can't stop seeing him everywhere.
And yes, now he has a name.
Eddie didn't know this guy existed two weeks ago and now he knows his name.
After the office hours debacle, then it was the cafeteria, seeing this guy in line, grabbing the last of the chicken tenders, a couple people in front of Eddie. So he had to wait, again, because of him, while they fried up some more. And yeah, maybe it's just a coincidence that the second time he sees this guy is when he's inconveniencing him again, but it feels like it's more than a coincidence.
The third time he sees him, before he ever knows his name was in the library, when this guy was sitting in his seat. Legitimately, literally, actually sitting in his fucking seat.
He got up to go to the bathroom and came back to find his stuff moved and this asshole sitting in his seat - arguably one of the only comfy chairs on this floor of the library. And, okay, maybe he was hogging it for a while, but who the hell just moves someone's stuff like that?
So it wasn't enemies at first sight, technically, but by the third time obviously Eddie is thinking of this guy as his nemesis, his first college nemesis. His first nemesis, period. Because he took his seat, he took his spot during office hours, and he took the last goddamn chicken tender.
And now he has verifiable proof that it's not just a coincidence. That this guy has it out for him personally for some reason.
Because he turned in his Intro to Fiction assignment for peer review and some guy named Steve absolutely ripped into his assignment, saying his interpretation of the religious aspects of Old Man and the Sea lacked nuance.
He looks up Steve on the registrar's website - there's no one named Steve in his Fiction class, so he must be in the other section of this class that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
He finds a million Steve's that go to their school, but narrows it down some based on their year. Clicking into every single account to look at the grainy little picture from everyone's student IDs is time consuming, but there's a dire need in him to know who the hell this guy thinks he is.
He luckily doesn't have to scroll too far because he finds Steve and wouldn't you fucking know it? Steve Harrington is the same motherfucker who's slighted him multiple times in the few short weeks since they've been back at school.
He does some digging on Facebook and comes up short because this guy has so little personality in his online presence, it's shocking how this could be the same guy who left him a scathing peer review. Other than finding evidence of some weird little frenemy thing he has going on with some guy and the guy's girlfriend, there's nothing.
So Eddie just silently seethes every time he sees Steve and wonders what the hell is going on inside that pretty little head of his.
Truth be told, there were much worse people at Indy State than Steve, but something about him just gets under Eddie's skin. His cavalier attitude, maybe, the way he can just rip into someone's perfectly good paper, how nonchalant he seems to be about everything - it all makes Eddie want to shake him until he gets a reaction out of him.
He's maybe a little bit obsessed, but he's never claimed to be normal about anything in his life ever.
It's nearing midterms when he finds Steve sitting in the only comfortable chair on the third floor of the library and he groans, turning away to go to a different floor.
"Oh, wait, Eddie?" he hears as he's walking away.
And there's no way.
There's no way this guy knows his name. There's no way this guy is calling his name like he knows him, like they know each other.
He turns back around and Steve is walking up to him.
He squints his eyes at him. "Yeah?"
"I thought that was you. Hey, I know you're in Murray's calculus class and I'm really struggling with wrapping my head around some of this stuff. Do you want to study together for the midterm?" Steve asks and Eddie's entire world tilts on its axis.
Why would Steve want to be study buddies with him?
Eddie's literally flabbergasted, but he finds his voice and says, "But I thought you hated me."
Steve looks confused. He says, "I don't, I don't hate you. I don't even know you? But I definitely don't hate you."
And Eddie sputters because no way was this all in his head. He says, "But what about the first time we ran into each other? You breezed past me to get to Professor Click first. You didn't even say sorry when you knocked into me."
And Steve still has that cute, confused look on his face. He replies, "If I bumped into you, I definitely would have said sorry. Maybe you had your headphones in? I know you wear them around campus a lot."
Steve noticed him around campus?
"O-okay, sure, maybe I had my headphones in and didn't hear you. But you stole my chair that one time," Eddie says, nodding over at said chair.
Steve looks back at the chair and actually looks a little repentant about that one, so Eddie knows he's right. He had to have done it on purpose.
But Steve says, "I am sorry about that one. That chair is the only remotely comfortable one up here though. And I only took it because you were gone for so long. I got up here and no one was sitting there so I waited for like ten minutes before moving your stuff. I thought you were one of those people who leave their stuff on the good chairs while they're in class, which is such a bitch move. But then you came back and I was gonna apologize, but you just took your stuff and left so quickly."
He does look like he feels bad about it.
And he's not wrong, is the thing. Eddie went to the bathroom and then saw Jeff from his chemistry lab there and he remembered a question he had, so they talked for a while before he headed back to his seat.
When he got back and saw Steve had taken his seat and moved his stuff to one of the other available chairs, he basically saw red and gathered up his shit and left. He was fuming about that for days. And Steve didn't even do it maliciously, apparently.
"What about my English assignment? You ripped my analysis of Old Man and the Sea apart."
Steve snorts and says, "Lacks nuance about the religious themes?" and when Eddie nods, he says, "I wrote that on everyone's assignment. Professor Brenner doesn't look at what we write. He tallies up how many times you comment on other people's stuff and that's how he determines your online participation grade."
Eddie knew he wasn't reading those fucking comments, that old bastard.
But it appears that this feud between him and Steve has been all in Eddie's head.
And that kind of makes him upset. Because he's been running around under the impression that he had a nemesis for the first time and this dude has probably never thought about him a day in his life before today. Upsetting.
"Oh, man, I seriously thought you hated me this entire time," he says with a sheepish look on his face.
"Nah, man. I, uh, I actually keep seeing you everywhere on campus and noticed you're really good at math. And I could really use a study buddy, if you're interested?" Steve asks, sounding hopeful.
What the hell. Why not?
He says, "If you can help quiz me on some of my chemistry shit, I will totally make numbers make sense to you."
And so it begins.
Now, the problem is that he's hanging around Steve so much that it has the opposite effect of what he thought was going on before.
Hanging out with him, with how well they get along together, playing video games together, just doing normal stuff - it all has him kind of craving more.
He feels like Steve is all he thinks about now. And okay, maybe he thought about him a lot before, when he thought they were nemeses, but it's different now that he knows him.
Everything he learns about him, he likes. Every new part of him he sees, he likes. He's never been like this about anyone before.
Steve shows him a picture of him and his friend's dog and Eddie is shooting heart eyes at it the entire time, cooing about how cute his dog is.
Steve tells him he likes playing silly video games with his friends like Surgeon Simulator and Eddie buys a monthly subscription to Xbox Gamepass for his laptop so he can play that stupid game with him.
Steve needs help editing an English paper and Eddie is kind of bad at English, especially citations, but he looks up APA citations and helps him figure it out.
Steve likes playing frisbee with his Ultimate friends and Eddie is signing up for the intramural frisbee competition with him because his team needed another person even though he fucking hates organized sports, especially stupid ass ones like frisbee.
He's kind of got a bit of a Steve problem and it's hard to shake. He's everywhere and even when he's not around, Eddie is thinking about him, about his stupid, perfect hair, about his eyes, about his smile. All things he didn't let himself think about when he thought Steve hated him.
But now, once the floodgates opened, he can't get Steve out of his head.
He likes him way too much, likes hanging out with him way too much.
The semester closes out with Eddie in way deeper than he ever thought he could be. He's never really fallen for someone like this and he doesn't know what to do about it.
Because he knows Steve and Robin are platonic soulmates now, and he knows Steve isn't seeing anyone, but he doesn't know if Steve even likes guys, if he even likes him. He knows they hang out a lot, but that doesn't mean Steve thinks of him as a friend or anything. He's so not equipped to deal with this.
He spends all break moping and pining, so much so that Wayne asks about it, asks who's got him in such a tangle. And Eddie blushes hard when he tells Wayne about his crush.
Wayne looks at him and says, "If this is that boy you stayed up on the phone with playing your little video games with until 5 in the morning the other day, I don't think you have anything to worry about, son."
Eddie scoffs. "He just, he likes playing these stupid co-op games that the kids he used to babysit for got him into. We didn't mean to stay up that late."
"All I'm saying is I wouldn't stay up all night talking to someone I didn't like," Wayne says and it feels like everything comes into focus suddenly.
Steve and Eddie have been hanging out for months, getting to know each other, studying together - sometimes just talking, completely forgetting about their homework or whatever quiz they're studying for, staying until the staff is literally kicking them out of the library.
Steve's best friend is a lesbian.
Steve has texted him every single day since the semester ended.
If nothing else, Steve is probably one of the best friends he's ever had.
He gets back to campus in mid-January and knows he's going to tell Steve, somehow, that he's into him. It might not be right away, but he's going to do it.
He sees Steve the afternoon he gets back and can't help the way his face lights up when he sees him. He's missed him, even though he spent all break talking to him, texting him, staying up way too late with him voice chatting while they played whatever game Steve was obsessed with that week.
Steve's standing in front of his dorm building like he's been waiting for Eddie outside ever since he texted him saying he was coming over.
As soon as Eddie gets close enough, Steve pulls him into a hug and Eddie sinks into it like he's finally home, like in Steve's arms is where he belongs.
They stand there in the cold of the winter, in each other's arms, and Eddie knows what it means to want - with the way his heart clenches and he feels every hair on his arm standing at being so close to Steve.
They pull away and Eddie is suddenly ready to say it, ready to tell Steve how he feels, ready for whatever consequences there may be to that.
But he doesn't have to.
Because as soon as they pull away, Steve stays close and presses his mouth to Eddie's, just a soft, dry press.
Eddie's breath catches in his throat and his hand comes up to cup Steve's neck as their lips slide together a second time, as Eddie opens his mouth to deepen the kiss. Steve's arms wind back around him and Eddie wants to stay here forever.
The world around them is chilly, but Eddie feels so warm right now, wrapped up in Steve's arms, with Steve's mouth against his, with Steve's tongue against his.
Steve pulls back from the kiss and smiles at him - this shy, little smile that Eddie's never seen on him before.
"I was hoping you'd kiss me back," Steve says, like there was ever any doubt. Thinking about Steve wanting this, thinking about this, has Eddie's mind spinning. How long has Steve liked him?
He says, "I mean, I think I had a crush on you even when I thought we were nemeses."
That gets Steve to laugh. "You're such a dork. Nemeses."
"Hey, you just kissed this dork," he says, noticing how close they're still standing, noticing how easy it would be to just lean back in and kiss him again.
"I did," Steve says, the expression on his face soft and fond. "Let me take you to lunch? Not in the caf. Somewhere else?"
"You tryna wine and dine me, Harrington?"
"And if I am?" Steve asks.
Eddie grins at him. "I just might let you," he says, leaning in again.

-ˋˏ [🦇] ˎˊ — HEARTBREAK HOTEL
[ STWG DRABBLE ] — BALCONY
Tumblr media
“I used to dream that we could have something different,” Steve said, staring out into the city from where he stood on the balcony. “That we would have a picket fence house and that life would be perfect.”
He could feel Eddie’s gaze on him. Good, he was listening.
“I know that’s not realistic. We’re young with our own careers to worry about, but that didn’t stop my mind from believing that you would come home to me. Only me.”
Steve listened to Eddie approach. Felt him touch his arm.
He jerked his arm away, nearly dropping his cigarette. He turned around, pressing his fingers into Eddie’s chest, shoving him back. “No.”
“No?”
“You do not get to apologize. You do not get to blame it on the alcohol or the drugs. You do not get to make excuses,” Steve seethed, his voice level, but venomous.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen, ‘Evie. I swear—”
“Yeah? It just happened, huh?” Steve laughed bitterly. “Then what about the first time? The second time? The fifth time? What am I supposed to do, Eddie? Pretend that you fucking people is okay while I sit at home with our fucking kid?”
Steve watched as grief and guilt flashed over his face, but Steve felt no satisfaction.
When Eddie didn’t say anything so Steve continued, “I love you so fucking much, but god, I hate you so much.”
“I love you too,” Eddie whispered.
“Well, you should have thought about that before,” Steve said, putting his cigarette out. “Make sure to check your e-mail. I’ll have my lawyer send you the divorce papers.”
Eddie swallowed. “Baby, please. What about Piper?”
Steve glared at him, “We’ll handle it in court, because if I’m honest? Piper doesn’t deserve you as a father.”
Steve didn’t waste another moment, not caring about any false promises that Eddie would plead with him. He had heard them all, and Steve was tired of hoping. He left the balcony, pushing past Eddie, grabbing his suitcase and left the suite.
At least his last day with Eddie was on a balcony, over looking an ocean as a storm rolled in. If only it hadn’t been the end of them.

Whispers of the Dead
STWG DRABBLE
PROMPT: QUIET | Steve-Centric
Tumblr media
He didn't know how he ended up here.
Maybe, finally, the survivor’s guilt was starting to eat away at him. It was the least he deserved after all. He could have done more. If he had done more, then he would have lived. He would live and Dustin would be happy.
Kate Bush had never felt so relevant.
Oh, what Steve would do to swap places with a man he had only known for a few days all so he could see Dustin smile.
If only Steve were a necromancer like in Dustin’s game. Then, just maybe, Steve could finally do something, anything. But that reality was far away.
Steve squeezed his hands into a fit, taking a deep sigh, breathing out. He sat on the ground, leaning forward, hugging his knees. He stared at the tombstone, a heaviness to him.
“Hey, Eddie,” he spoke, voice barely above a whisper. “I don't know why I’m here. Guilt, probably.”
Steve ran his hand through his hair, scrunching his nose slightly at the grease that came from it. He made a mental note to shower.
“Dustin misses you,” he said. “Dustin said your uncle misses you. I'm sure you know. Dustin said he came with your uncle once. They were probably better company than me.”
Licking his lips, Steve looked up at the moon through the clouds. “Before I started to get to know the kids, after I first saw a demogorgon, I always wondered if I sacrificed myself, would things change? Maybe. Probably not.
I know you died because you wanted to buy us time, but you mostly protected Dustin. That was brave, but God, was that stupid. I can't be mad, though.”
Steve let out a wet laugh, tears filling his eyes. “I would have done the same thing. I would have died for everyone just to make sure everyone was safe, consequences be damned. If only we could see the future, huh? Then maybe things would be different. We could have been friends in another life. Dustin wouldn't be sad. Max wouldn't be in a coma. It was be fine.”
The wind rustled and Steve shivered. The cold wind bit at his skin.
“I should go,” he sighed. “I promised Robin I would stay with her tonight. Nightmares.”
Steve stood, brushing the dirt off his pants. He stood awkwardly, and for the first time in a while, he said a small prayer, for Eddie.
“Bye, Eddie.”
Steve turned away, walking to his car. He pulled the keys out, fumbling with them as the wind picked up again. He unlocked the car door, and froze.
A warmth washed over him and his skin lit up as if it were being burned. It felt like someone was holding him.
‘Help.’
A wave of cold suddenly washed back over him and Steve turned around frantic, eyes searching in the dark, but he was met with nothing but an empty, quiet graveyard.

Sugar Pie, Honey Pie
STWG DISCORD DRABBLE
Prompt: Childhood AU
NOTE: Decided to focus on on Steve and his mom. I have a feeling that he would have been a mama’s boy, so here’s a small snippet.
Tumblr media
Evangelina Harrington let out a laugh, her head falling back as she danced in the middle of her large living room with her small son, Steve. He was barely eight and was trying his best to sing to her.
“Sugar pie, honey pie, you know I love you!” Steve sang, his voice high and scratchy as he danced, stumbling over his feet.
Eva thought it was most adorable thing. Steve was like his father — a charmer, but bad on his feet. At least, despite the youthfulness to his voice, he could be a good singer when he was older.
“Oh, sugar pie, honey bunch, I'll do anything you ask me too!”
Eva turned her head, her gaze softening as her husband sang from the entry, having just returned from work. “Richie,” she said, fondly.
She watched as Richard set his bag down, going to pick Steve up, giving him a stern look. “Now, Evie, I’m the only man in this house that can woo your mother.”
Steve let out a loud scoff, causing Eva to choke on a laugh, “She’s my mom, Richard.”
Richard blinked bewildered, looking at his wife. “The hell he'd get the attitude from?”
Eva let out a laugh, “That’s all you, Mr. Mouth-of-the-South.”
“Yeah, Dad! You’re, uh, a bad influwent,” Steve nodded.
Richard closed his eyes, putting his hand over his chest. “The two people I love the most, betraying me?”
Eva and Steve looked at each other, giggling.
“You’re silly, Daddy!” Steve giggled loudly, leaning into his hold.
“So silly,” Eva smiled.

modern au where eddie and robin are roommates and steve is italian <3
-
eddie has always known that his roommate robin is in the US for college, but grew up in and is from italy. sure, sometimes he forgets, because she somehow has a near-perfect american accent and also speaks two other languages, but he’s always known.
and for the past year and a bit, he’s known how much robin wants her best friend stevie to come visit. she talks about them all the time, and ever since she and eddie moved out of the dorms and into an apartment together for their next year of university a month ago, he’s known stevie is going to come and visit.
he just kind of forgot the exact day stevie would be arriving.
so when he, clad in nothing but his garfield pyjama pants and a metallica t-shirt that’s falling apart, walks into the kitchen one morning and sees someone he doesn’t know at the kitchen counter fiddling with their instant coffee machine, he almost shits himself.
luckily, he doesn’t, because he remembers in that split second that stevie was due to arrive last night. but he still flinches pretty hard at the fright and grabs for the nearest grabbable thing, which turns out to be the doorframe. somehow, he makes a noise loud enough to get the mystery person’s attention, and they turn around.
holy shit. eddie did not know stevie is hot. or that stevie’s actually a guy. he kind of just assumed, with the nickname and all? but the man standing there looks like he could’ve been carved by the gods eddie doesn’t believe in, and- eddie realises he’s been staring at the guy for a few seconds now, and decides to talk like a normal human being. he first adjusts his position so he’s no longer holding onto the archway of the kitchen for support, and smiles at the guy.
“hi, you must be stevie?” he offers, and stevie takes a few seconds to process his words before nodding with a smile.
“my name is steve. robbie just is… hm, silly?”
eddie blinks a couple times, because steve has an accent. a thick one. he should’ve expected that, because- hello? they’re both literally from italy. but it catches him off guard, and adds to steve’s hot factor. why didn’t robin warn him about this.
“yeah, robin is very silly.” he agrees with a chuckle, and then realises steve might not know him, “i’m eddie. robin’s roommate. you probably knew that already though, so now i probably look like an idiot. well- more of an idiot than i already do in these clothes…”
he lets his words trail off as he realises steve is frowning at him in subtle confusion. he’s picked up robin’s rambling-when-nervous habit over their friendship, and hot guys tend to make him pretty nervous. but then he realises maybe steve isn’t as fluent in english as robin is, and even if he is eddie’s a fast talker that doesn’t always pronounce things fully.
“i am sorry,” steve looks embarrassed, “my english is not as good as robin.”
eddie feels so guilty at the pink that’s made itself known on steve’s cheeks, and shakes his head immediately.
“no! you don’t need to be sorry. i just talk a lot when i’m nervous.” he confesses. why did he say that? now steve knows he’s nervous. or does he? maybe he didn’t catch his full sentence.
steve raises one eyebrow at eddie though, and one side of his mouth quirks up into a smile as he turns around to keep trying to make himself a cup of coffee.
“i am making you nervous? why?” steve asks, his back still turned. now eddie’s the one with red cheeks. dammit.
“it’s because eddie here thinks you’re hot, stevie.”
eddie’s flinch at robin’s magical appearance behind him is somehow more spectacular than earlier, and he clutches dramatically at his heart and spins around to glare at robin.
“robin! what the fuck, man!” he yelps when he realises what she’s said. but robin isn’t listening, she’s too busy speaking to steve in italian about who knows what.
probably about how she knows all eddie’s tells for when he finds a guy attractive and how she knows eddie’s type and steve checks every single box. or, eddie squints at the pair as robin tsks at steve and takes over manning the coffee machine, maybe robin’s just telling steve how to make a coffee with the machine?
“you think i am…” steve starts as he spins around to look at eddie, and seems to be searching for a word for a few moments, “attractive?”
eddie’s eyes widen, and then he sighs and fixes a glare on robin. robin just shrugs and makes a very insincere ‘oopsie’ expression, and eddie is about to start denying like his life depends on it, but he looks back at steve.
and steve has that blush back on his face, and a tiny smile, and he’s looking eddie up and down even in his ridiculous outfit.
“um, yes.” eddie practically squeaks, not used to having someone’s eyes on him like this.
steve says something to robin in italian that sounds like it ends with a question mark, and robin rolls her eyes.
“steve wants me to translate a pick up line he wants to use on you, but i literally refuse to do that. google translate is free.”
and with that, she leaves the kitchen.
