Apparently a lot of people get dialogue punctuation wrong despite having an otherwise solid grasp of grammar, possibly because they’re used to writing essays rather than prose. I don’t wanna be the asshole who complains about writing errors and then doesn’t offer to help, so here are the basics summarized as simply as I could manage on my phone (“dialogue tag” just refers to phrases like “he said,” “she whispered,” “they asked”):

“For most dialogue, use a comma after the sentence and don’t capitalize the next word after the quotation mark,” she said.

“But what if you’re using a question mark rather than a period?” they asked.

“When using a dialogue tag, you never capitalize the word after the quotation mark unless it’s a proper noun!” she snapped.

“When breaking up a single sentence with a dialogue tag,” she said, “use commas.”

“This is a single sentence,” she said. “Now, this is a second stand-alone sentence, so there’s no comma after ���she said.’”

“There’s no dialogue tag after this sentence, so end it with a period rather than a comma.” She frowned, suddenly concerned that the entire post was as unasked for as it was sanctimonious.

Ok I would like to talk about the looks progression of Edward Little because while everyone else is starting to look starved and dirty and gross, he seems to get hotter and hotter (at least in my opinion):

Episode 1: Who the fuck is that? Way too clean, hair way too neat. Who is this person?

Episode 3 (cause he’s basically not in episode 2): Ok lookin a little more like Ned. Still no where near wet enough but at least he’s looking a bit stressed. Cute.

Episode 4: Ok hairs a little longer, chops a little more unruly. looking a little more stressed I like the direction we’re going.

Episode 5: YES!! Makeup artists were slaying the blush, hair is looking lovely, sad as hell, this is wtf I’m taking about!!

Episode 6: YUPPPP here we gooooo!! Looking a bit like a hot topic employee, bearing the burden of command while wearing a cute scarf. Love it!

Episode 7: Things are going downhill but Ned’s hair only get better. Bangs in his sad sad eyes. Looking amazing for sledging and being lead poisoned. (Jirvs there too but this ain’t about him)

Episode 8: He’s dirty, hungry, and the worst kind of sorry but he’s looking GREAT doing it!! We love a man who grimes up well!

Episode 9: Quite literally the HOTTEST a man has ever looked. I’m gnawing at the bars of my enclosure. There’s something about a man that’s damn near given up…. HOT!!! Plus the full mustache and beard now!!??? WERK

And that’s it! Cause after this he successfully leads the men to rescue and nothing bad happens hahahhahahahaha
