One thing I’ve always loved about Kubo’s art style is that pronounced upper lip. It’s that tiny little detail that makes his characters so gorgeous.

I honestly don’t really like the scene where Orihime confesses to Ichigo. I know time and time again there’s been discourse about whether it would have been s/a or not, but no many how many times I try to look at it in a different way it just feels.. gross. At the end of the day Ichigo was still unconscious and non-consenting and it feels WEIRD. I don’t really think Orihime or Ichihime is to blame though, i don’t think all of their development should be diminished bc I feel like Kubo really did think it was a romantic act which is.. odd.

I hate the time skip and the way we missed a lot of Ichigo and the gang's development. The way they dealt with all the things that happened in Hueco Mundo. How Ichigo's heart was literally ripped out and Orihime saw him die before her eyes. Ishida's arm ripped out by his friend. Chad almost dying. The whole karakura gang meeting Aizen and just being powerless. How did they all deal with that? I would've loved to see that.

Bleach, as a story, does have its problems, but it scratches an itch in my brain that's hard to replicate from other media. The characters, the setting, and The haunting, angsty music of its original airing for the anime... It was just a cocktail of vibes that hit my brain in the exact right way when I first watched it. I loved the haunting aesthetics and looking back at the anime, it had a very liminal vibe when we were in the older episodes.

I always love stories with super/magic powers that show how a character uses their magic on the day to day. I can imagine how Ichigo could sometimes forget to grab his whole ass body before school. I can picture Orihime doing a Disney princess impression with her fairies. And I can imagine Uryu and Chad being mistaken for a vampire and werewolf by the way their powers look to the supernaturally blind. I can only imagine what theories any nosy neighbors would cook up with the few slip ups on the supernatural staying secret.

I have the desire to read or watch a mini ark of Bleach: College years [insert better title here] just so I can watch the Karakura Squad fumble or flourish in the immediate breath of adulthood. I wanna see Ichigo and Chad being roommates. I wanna see Orihime and Uryu doing some cosplay side hustles. I wanna see Kiego and Mizuiro bicker about who's the worst roommate and try to get either Ichigo and/or Chad to side with one of them. And I wanna see Tatsuki meet Riruka and Hiyori and the chaos that would bring. Just, basically a slice of life with chiller stakes for a while. Think it'd be fun.

To anyone only watching the anime I can only say you're missing out. The manga is just awesome and so beautiful. I always reread the manga but never rewatch the anime, cause it makes me feel closer to the characters and also to the whole story. I realized how much scenes were added to the anime and how some were even changed and reading the original source just feels way better.

I wish Bleach had more silly moments in the beginning where Rukia and Ichigo run into classmates while on a Soul Reaper mission. It'd be fun to Ichigo's reaction to gossip he's not apart of and watching Rukia spread nonsensical rumors about Ichigo in front of him while in ghost mode. It could also be cute if Ichigo learns about Orihime's crush on him... with Rukia teasing him later.

I find it so sad, that the anime censores a lot of the manga. Snd that's why I think Orihime's powers are so underrated. The characters literally get sliced up, Rangiku looses half of her torso and Orihime, a 15 year old human girl heals all of it in just a few minutes. She's actually such a gem for her powers and while Unohana gets the credit, she just got hate for being "weak", when in reality she's probably even more powerful in terms of healing than Unohana, a >1000 year old shinigami who trained her whole life.

Looking through your blog, I saw a lot of confessions saying how they love Bleach because of the lack of romance, but I don't think that's right to say at all? Isshin sacrificed his powers and his whole life as a captain, because of Masaki. Also Gin and Rangiku? Don't get me started on how tragic their story is. Momo and Toshiro? Also the whole backstory of Renji and Rukia? Byakuya and Hisana? How is there a lack of romance, when romance and love is what has made some characters the way they are. There is no lack at all, it's just the perfect nuance and I love Bleach because of it.

I would've loved to see an outburst of Orihime just once, like in fighting back Kenpachi style, but I know that wouldn't fit her character at all. At least we got the scene with Ginjo where her shield reflected his attack. I loved that!

I find it really sad, that we didn't get a canon talk between Hisagi and Kensei with their whole backstory and the 69 tatoo, instead Kensei just treats him like shit and that annoys me so much. It's really disappointing if the person you admire so much, becomes a person like Kensei. At first I liked him, but then came to hate him because of the way he treated and disrespected Hisagi.

I wish Uryu had had I larger role in the final arc. In the manga especially, he’s sidelined for most of the arc. It’s literally an arc about his people, and I wish we could have seen more of his perspective. I do like that the anime is adding scenes with him to give him more relevance, but I still feel like Kubo could have done something great with him this arc, and he just didn’t.

I really wish that there was more downtime for Ichigo and main friends to just hang out and mess with each other, especially when new characters get brought into the group. It would've really been fun to see how Shinji could've trolled the Karakura Squad when the Soul Reaper stuff was still a secret, lol.
