Feeling balanced. How many of you can claim, that they’re feeling balanced today? Majority of my life I was feeling out of whack. Heck, even not too long ago. I am one of those people who will take care of those around me but completely forget to take care of myself. Correction, I WAS one of those people. Until my cup ran empty. I’ve neglected to take care of my health and wellness for so long, I didn’t have enough energy, balance and strength to care for anyone else’s problems. So how can you regain your balance? 1. First, face the truth. Go to the doctor, ANY doctor, just get yourself to the doctors office to get some blood work. Okay? I know this is a pain, I personally hate going to doctor appointments. But we need to know what we’re dealing with here! If you neglect this – you will be poking in the dark. 2. Once you get your results, start acting. Make sure you’re sleeping well (see my post on sleep aids). Start taking baby steps to wellness. Go to the kitchen and look around. What are top 3 things you KNOW you could stop buying and eating? Start there. We will explore this much further later but the point is to start. 3. Are you taking supplements? What kind? Do you know what’s in them? Do you know if it’s synthetic? Do you know the long-term effect of taking those? How are they sourced? Don’t just buy stuff off of Amazon. Leave amazon for InstantPots and curling irons. 4. Learn about Ningixa Red. I am not just saying this guys. We talked about sleep and how to fall asleep, but what about stress? 🤪Stress can affect our night time in some major ways. What do you do for your mental health? …. You’re taking care of yourself, right? RIGHT?!🤨 At least promise me that you meditate? If not, you absolutely have to start. Meditation can improve your life drastically. We go through the day with so much information around us, thoughts, images, unprocessed. When we get to bed – sometimes we try to sort things out and this can create anxiety or restlessness. Here are the top apps I recommend for meditation, check them out and if anything, you can ALWAYS go to youtube and find short 1-5 minute meditations. I recommend to start as short as possible and work your way up. Ok? Let’s zen out. I share free stuff only so all the paid ones are obvious…right? Like calm, headspace etc…I try to have as little subscriptions as possible so my list includes free only. 😌UCLA Mindful – Developed by the Mindful Awareness Research Center at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the app features about a dozen meditations of different types in English and Spanish. You can learn to focus on your breath, your body, or sounds; work with difficult emotions; and cultivate loving-kindness in sessions ranging from 3 to 19 minutes long. 😌Smiling Mind - The app features hundreds of meditations, enough to keep you engaged without overwhelming you with choice 😌The Breathing App – simple, to the point. I’ll be honest with you – I had to shorten my last post on sleep by a LOT because Instagram only allows so many characters… I had more to share!😁 So here are some ways to apply your favorite oils before bed: 🌱Put a drop on the bottom of each foot and rub it in 🌱Drop 2-4 drops into your diffuser with filtered water. If you have pets – make sure they can leave so don’t close your door. Especially cats. They’re sensitive. Fragile. Sassy. 🌱Take 1 drop on the palm of your hand and rub your hands together, then slightly massage your pillow. This method is one of my favorites and can be used instead of the diffuser if you have 1001 animals like me. Don’t massage for too long though or your pillow will get used to it and the next things you know it’ll always ask for it. 🌱Take a 2oz glass spray bottle (to see which ones I use check the link in the bio), do 1/3 of witch hazel and the rest – water + 10-15 drops of a calming essential oil. Like lavender, peace and calming, gentle baby, stress away, cedarwood, frankincense…and more. All those oils reduce anxiety. Shake well and spray your pillows! I also love taking these with me when I travel. Let’s be honest, at first oils sound a bit cray cray, right? How does it even work? Witchy mambo jumbo.🧙♀️ Well, let me pull out my scientist hat. Ok it’s on. 👩🏻🔬🎩 (yes that is my science hat) Inhaling essential oils stimulates the olfactory system, the part of the brain connected to smell, including the nose and the brain. 🧠 Molecules that enter the nose or mouth pass to the lungs, and from there, to other parts of the body. 🤓 As the molecules reach the brain, they affect limbic system, which is linked to the emotions, the heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress, and hormone balance. Sleep. I love to sleep. I slept like a baby when I was a baby. My mom had to wake me up to feed me. I keep true to these principle to this day. Read my previous post for more context! Today we talk how to fall asleep and stay asleep. Apply these tips and I can guarantee you a peaceful night of dreaming about Mr. Sandmans abs…wait what? 😴I’ll start with the obvious. 1 hour before bed – set your phone to night shift mode. 20-23 minutes before bed, put your phone away and grab a very boring book. Like…the dictionary. I can never finish that book so I don’t know how it ends. If you’re struggle to part with your phone – plug it in in the bathroom and set your alarm. 😴If you messed up your sleep schedule need extra melatonin - I recommend Sleep Essence by Young Living. These amazing tablets have no junk in them and contain lavender, vetiver, valerian, and Ruta graveolens essential oils with the hormone melatonin—a well-known sleep aid. I recommend starting w/ 1 capsule. 😴Lavender essential oil is known for it’s relaxing properties, everyone knows that. But did you know that if you combine it with Cedarwood essential oil – it creates a powerful, relaxing blend? YES. Try putting a drop of each on your feet and in your diffuser. Valerian root essential oils also works! 😴If you had a particularly stressful day – take a bath. Don’t worry about making it perfect. Life isn’t perfect. Just get your booty into a bath with some hot water and maybe bubbles if you’re feeling adventurous. Or a bath bomb. I recommend Stress Away bath bombs by Young Living, they also have a lavender one 😴Get yourself a cute tea mug, like a really cute or funny one that will be only yours. Find some tea you like, they have sleeping teas but they taste funky to me…I like tarder joes peppermint tea because it’s good for your gut health and it’s tasty. Don’t add any sugar or honey, and treat yourself to that nice cup of tea right in bed. So which essential issue should we tackle first? I’m thinking…sleep. That is one I personally battled for, for 4 years. Back in 2016 I went through a loss of a very close friend that left me with a lot of questions. Those questions would pop up at night when my mind is quiet and my body is still and I had no answers for them. That eventually grew into anxiety that in the course of hours spiral out and the next thing I know it’s 4am and I have work in the morning. Back when I didn’t know what to do, I’d buy over the counter sleeping pills. OH MY BORSCH!!! I know. It’s terrible. I felt TERRIBLE in the morning but at least I had some sleep. Can’t even imagine what kind of damage I’ve done to myself in those 4-6 months when I was talking those pills. Back then, wellness was a word I was unfamiliar with. Fast forward to now, and I’ve discovered and learned so many tools that not just helped me to fall asleep withing 40-60 minutes but to stay asleep and wake up fresh. What are the 3 things that we are ALL missing in our lives? If you thought food, water and air, you’re not wrong but let’s just pretend that is not the answer. In 2020 it’s sleep, energy and gut health. We are way too busy working, hustling, taking care of babies, scrolling on social medias, posting on social medias, watching YouTube and liking baby pictures of Facebook to fall asleep peacefully and have a full night of rest. We are eating too much sugar, sleeping too little hours, absorbing too little vitamins to have energy. So we run to coffee more than we should. We eat on the go, drive throughs, boxed lunch from Trader Joes, too tired to cook, or cooking something easy instead of nutritious to have a healthy gut. Also, why are salads like $6.99? And also, who eats salads? Gross. In our busy world we need help. Aside from changing things fundamentally, which we will do here when you are ready, there are tools out there that can help you improve those 3 essentials without compromise. Now tell me, what is one thing in your life that you are doing too much of? Admit it! I know you know. The first step to improvement is admitting. I, for example, sit too much. I should really get up and get that booty movin’ but all the activities I like to do require sitting down…However! I am working daily to improve on that via quick 20-30 min elliptical walks on an incline. May not be much but I sure am sweating! Don’t really want to end a post with words sweating…so…Butterflies!
