Shen Li outfit appreciation post 1

My fav look. The hair accessory looks like a halo, lending to the goddess vibes that Shen Li had in the final battle.

Incidentally my 2nd fav look is her first battle against the chi mei.

I’m not a fan of head pieces with dangling bits so I’m glad they jazz up Shen Li’s outfits with bangles / arm bands / fancy belts instead.

39集真是画龙点睛，终于有人把番外也拍出来！！

I love love love ep39, it was the perfect icing on the cake to end off The Legend of Shen Li.

霸气王爷和她那柔弱不能自理的林小娘。🤣

I’ve seen complaints that this drama is too slow and/or boring and hey, it’s ok if this doesn’t work for you, just move on to one that does. But me? I’d watch 10 episodes of their married life in the mortal realm where Xing Zhi is now free to unleash his gremlin self.

Hotpot, mahjong and drinks! I definitely did something like this with my girlfriends where we talked about our relationship problems lol.

It’s hilarious how much details the drama went into for these ‘casual’ scenes cos Xing Zhi was being serious with his sauce mixing (as we all are when we go Hai Di Lao) only to have it taken away by Boss Wifey. And Ms Jin orders to have the beef tripe added to the hotpot without missing a beat. 感情再苦，也要好好吃！

Thank you director for all the lovey-dovey scenes and letting me witness Lin Geng Xin be 小鸟依人.

沈璃好几个日夜守着行止的身体也对应了行止之前十天十夜不停地在东海寻沈璃。

他们的情感经历如今对等了。如果没走过一遭，沈璃也无法完全体会行止当时的绝望。

37-38 集自然是大哭，不过凤来是意外的哭点。

我其实对凤来琉羽这对偏无感，可是凤来醒来后整段我忍不住为他流下泪。

千年后醒来已物是人非，只能在陌生的女儿身上找到爱人的一丁点气息与影子。

这世上再没什么值得留恋的。

the legend of shen li is a role-reversal of identities. it's about a sickly man picking up a chicken at a market and taking her home. except the chicken is a demon lord. so she's at his mercy, but she's the only one who can protect him when nobles come to bully him. except he's actually the highest god, the lonely god, the last of the ancient gods, idly going through a mortal trial due to sheer boredom. so when she returns to the clouds, she discovers him, so much higher than her. and now he's the only one who has the power to grant her wishes, but he's at her (emotional) mercy, because he didn't know she is engaged. so let's circle back to the start: a man and a chicken, both unknowing of who the other really is, both believing themselves to be the stronger one, both letting themselves submit a little to the other. insane. what if you pick up a chicken and it's a demon who can destroy cities. what if you are rescued by a doomed sweet mortal and he's the god who directs the three realms. what then? The way she persuades him to leave so she can practice walking...

It does NOT go well.

I love that the camera pans and you see XZ looking/listening, pained for her suffering, but he does not intervene because he knows her and knows her pride and knows her need to self-sufficiency.

It actually makes me think of a scene much later:

I loved this because the way he knows he needs to acknowledge her capability; he doesn't handle things for her because he thinks she can't, but because he wants to take care of her, and I love it.

And to get back to her walking, all he does (without saying a word), is installing ropes for her to hold on to and padding table corners.

This is loving her in the way she wants to be loved.

And I am wild for it!
