Gerrymandering is the practice of drawing boundaries of voting districts to unfairly favor a party. Here I do the same thing to a blorbo tournament so that it goes according to my own bias. Main is @chzdavmpr

Vote Lucifer. NOW!
The 2nd Character Design Tournament
Please remember to vote for characters solely based on their design, rather than which character you are more familiar with or like more!
Lucifer | Paranatural
“A bird on a table and a cloaked mustachioed wizard at the same time, like a fun optical illusion”
“Lucifer was definitely my favorite character design when I read (most of) Paranatural. It has so many layers. At first it's just a kooky wizard, then you notice the mustache is wings, then you notice the tongue is a tail and the whole thing is a bird in a cage, then you notice the whole thing is a lightbulb which ties into his light powers. It is such a conceptually dence design that manages to be amazingly simple in actual amount of details. It also just has a ton of character.”

I'm doing season 2 of my other poll blog. Go there. GO THERE NOW!
Hello! And welcome back to Season 2 of Ultimate Obscure Blorbo!
If you don't know the rules already, unlike many poll blogs where you just vote whichever character you know regardless of the actual criteria, here you CAN'T vote for a character you know! So the more obscure a character is the better they will do!
I am your host, @chzdavmpr and with me is also have with me @dynamicentropy who is helping me with the charity stuff.
"Charity stuff?" you ask, full of bemusement. That's right, this season this entire tournament will be a fundraiser for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, or PCRF. They are a charity that provides food, water, and medical supplies/treatment to those in urgent need in Gaza, and has longer term goals of providing healthcare to children across Palestine. We have a lot of plans on incentives and goals which we will let you guys know about when they're set up (more info here), but for now if you can donate to them then you can do so here;
Now without further ado, if you would like to submit a character you can do so here!

Hey, it’s @blorbo-gerrymandering (and by extension @who-do-i-know-this-man)‘s mirror self. While this may appear to be a normal Jaylen Hotdogfingers appreciation blog, it is in fact a blorbo popularity contest. You’re free to organize and whatever else. Actually PLEASE do propaganda and tag me in it I’d love to see what you all come up with given this blog’s gimmick.
HOWEVER! Speaking of that!
You’re not going to know who you’re voting for (unless you’re observant)! I will be providing brief descriptions, and will refresh the descriptions to be longer (or include more/different details, we'll see. Depends on how much time I have during this tbh) each round, so as the contestants narrow down, you get a clearer and clearer idea of who you’re voting for! After the tournament ends, I will provide a de-anonymized version of the bracket, so you can all see how things shook out. Maybe you’ll find someone interesting you never knew about! The only potential for bias in this tournament is “since I had to choose the characters to avoid you all knowing them off the bat, there might be more blorbos from my current interest(s), for obvious reasons.”
Guesswork is welcomed, and will be reblogged to @anonymous-blorbo-detective without comment. That being said, please don’t try to "spoil" people on your theories in propaganda. A decent amount of the gimmick is that you're not 100% sure who you're voting for, and besides, you could always be wrong! Then where would you be?
Current bracket is here.
Tagging my mirror self @blorbo-gerrymandering / @who-do-i-know-this-man, as well as @infinite-tournament, for visibility! If you feel like reblogging this just on a whim and you're not tagged you can do that too.

Whelp we're finally at the end huh? I had a bunch of fun making propaganda for Doom-shroom and doing the gerrymandering quests before voting. I think this whole thing was such a cool concept to see in a poll blog!!!! I'm really glad I stumbled apon your blog :]]]]]] Anyways I just wanted to thank you again for making this blog which helped me create some banger(at least in my opinion) art and just have a fun time drawing a character that I love, but probably wouldn't have drawn as much if not for this. And thanks again to everyone who supported Doom-shroom in this tourney you guys are amazing :]]]]]]]]]]]]] (especially you @oldmanontumbler I still think about your art TUT)
Congrats to Senshi for winning the tourney! He's such a silly little guy I love him so much<33333333 Doom-shroom will have always won in my heart though so here's some art of the guy!!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day/night :DDDDD
Hell yeah! Was tons of fun! (Also what a fun coincidence that this reached me right after I made a post about how I'm now on team Doom-Shroom)

Me when this bracket started: Man Doomshroom is such an odd pick for a pvz rep. I guess it's just for the "bad boy" points.
Me, now having watched 40+ episodes of someone playing PvZ hardmode mods:
#not a poll#btw I have no idea why the gif is so crusty. i got it from google#but by the point ind the playthrough where the dominant strat became “spam stalls until doomshroom is off cooldown”#i realized that I had undervaled him

i concede the winning title to senshi but let it be known that i just spent the last 45 minutes creating/deleting accounts through a single email and illegally submitting the last 61 votes. had i figured out this was possible a few hours sooner, i could have succeeded in turning this whole election around. and that's all by myself. imagine how much voter fraud we could've done with multiple people working on it. and on a blog where election fraud is the entire gimmick, it wouldn't be difficult to get other dedicated enough spiteful blaseball fans on board. this is a warning not to ever challenge us again. congratulations senshi 👑
Cheating to win a tournament? Despicable. However even with such backhanded opponents it was fun to defeat you all fair and square. Good Game

Ahahahahha! I WIN! Senchi Reigns supreme as the #1 blorbo according to this very fair and balanced tournament.
Btw in case anyone is curious on the exact behind-the-scenes of the final poll I'll put that below the cut.
Firstly, I gotta pat myself on the back for the idea of a personality quiz. I knew if I did a straight up gerrymandered poll against Jaylen she would have probably have BETTER odds cause people who (correctly) thought of my as the antagonist of this blog would vote for her because it was a vote against me. And from there people would easily coordinate 1 option to all vote for. So I hid the gerrymandering out of sight, and made the gimmick fun so that people didn't ignore it outright.
Now lets go over how exactly it was gerrymandered. Each answer to each question was either a Senshi answer or a Jaylen answer. To get Jaylen you had to get more of her answers then senshi's (so 3, since there are 5 questions)
On question 1 you will immediately see my trick. Despite there being 5 options only 1 gives Jaylen. I saw quite a few guess as much so I'll quickly list all the other Jaylen answers. for "feelings on necromancy" her's is "I'm literally a reanimated corpse", For the door you gotta say fuck you, and for my sentence you gotta pick eternal failure.
Keen eyed ඞmong you may realise that I skipped "pick one of the things I just made made up question" That is because all the answers to that question are Senshi answers. The question is purely to tilt the odds more in my favor, poke fun at uQuiz, and reference Gloopgolp World.

Hey so... consider this a soft-announcement for season 2 of this blog. We're running it back from the top. And this time I'm also gonna be raising money for Palestine! Before we get to character submissions tho I wanna ask some questions to you guys.
Firstly, to encourage donations I want to incorporate the donations into the game in some way. My idea so far is whichever blorbo has the most donations in their name at the end of round 1 gets to try again in round 2. This isn't the best implementation, so if anyone has any better suggestions on how to game-ify donations please let me know.
Secondly, I've heard good things about the PCRF and seen other people use it for their fundraisers. But I wanna make sure that I do this the best I can, so if there happen to be better singular organizations that would work for a fundraiser please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any answers, and make sure to start thinking of who to submit when the time comes.

I’m thinking of setting up my own gimmick poll blog, any tips?
Oh yes, quite a few.
Firstly, if the characters are being submitted use a google form similar to the one that was used when this blog started. In my last big poll blog I famously did not do this and it added a literal month of extra work, and caused there to be many many errors.
Second, the standard for reaching a wider audience with your blog is to tag poll blogs you know in the into post (usually under a cut) so that they can reblog it. Obviously not every one of them will, so you want a good number of them. And the blogs you tag do not have to have anything to with the one your doing, if they do polls and you know them it should be fine to tag them (this includes my blog)
Third, if the inclusion of a character in ypur poll makes you uncomfortable, or if you think it could make the people who follow you uncomfortable DO NOT INCLUDE THEM. It can be disappointing for a fan when a character they submit gets rejected, but that almost never outweighs the cost of having an offensive character or source on your blog.
And finally, have fun with it! If you need to change the rules in order for it to stay fun for you then change the rules. If running it isn't fun for you any more stop running it. The whole point is to be fun.
#not a poll#ask#sorry for the long post but theres a lot ive learned in hindsight doing this so I wanted to share

I know you said you didn't want the jerrymandering concept to wear thin so you weren't going to do multiple rounds of it, but if enough people were interested in joining you could switch to the charity concept for the next round to the political lobbying competition.
That's definitely an option. Where my head's at at the moment tho, I think that if I were to do a second season of a tournament for charity I would do one for my Obscure Blorbo one.
It have no idea if I would be able to incorporate the donations into the "game" with that one, but it would definitely be easier then coming up with 30+ interesting new ways to gerrymander polls, and that blog has almost 10x this blog's follower count.
Of course tho I have no finalized plans for anything. I could do a season 2. I could do nothing at all. I could do a new tourney, like a bracket of which Dr Seuss adaptation is best (cause btw there are more of them then you think). Maybe I could even start an entirely new gimmick blog that has nothing to do with polls. Who knows. I'll need to ponder.

In retrospect I'm quite disappointed that I didn't figure out how to set up the "political donations" mechanic of this tournament (where you would have been able to donate to charity and dedicate it to a contestant, and the contestant with the most donations each round would have gotten an advantage) cause I feel like with the Jaylen stuff especially this community could have raised a lot.
I guess the best I can do now is tell you to go donate to a charity if you can. Such as the PCRF, if you don't know any to donate to.

I am drafting this message on May 8th. I have just sent out a false white flag, declaring that I have been defeated by Jaylen. I will try to dawn the persona of someone who has learned to be a Blaseball fan, and want Jaylen to win. I'll even gerrymander in favor of Jaylen. However this is still but an illusion. I remain Jaylen's #1 hater. The gerrymandering in the next round will serve to hopefully rob the Blaseballers of their status as an "underdog" making it ironically easier for them to lose. I'm still unsure if Buneary will be able to win, but it has already done far more then I expected. But even in the worst case, I hope that Senshi/Miku can defeat this hotdogfingered beast.
If you are seeing this post I have either succeeded in my plan, and have taught you all a valuable lesson to never trust a gerrymanderer, or I have died on my hill, with my worst enemy standing above my corpse.

This definitely might backfire but I need to spice up this final round a bit and I'm feeling particularly cocky so...
I'm gonna publish The Draft

Final Round!

WAIT! before you proceed further you must engage with the gimmick for the final round. Which is...
A personality quiz! It will scientifically determine whom you should vote for!
To avoid people with trigerfinger voting before reading the above the poll will be below the cut.
