Just your friendly reminder that Jean wanted Kevin to stay because he knew Kevin couldn't survive the Nest without playing and he needed Kevin to die so that he could go too. Not only that, but he admits he would have done anything short of killing Kevin to stop him from leaving.

Neither Jean nor Kevin were exactly thinking about the other's well being at that particular moment. And you know what? IT IS FINE

They were being deeply abused, in all possible ways. They were pushed to their breaking points and when this happens you cannot think of anything or anyone else, the only thing you want is to make that pain stop. And both of them were willing to sacrifice the other to get a way out

Kevin's ticket out was Wymack and the Foxes, but to get to them, he needed first to get out of the Nest without being caught (which is hard taking in consideration he was supposed to remain 24/7 glued to Riko-seriously, I would kill myself of I had to stay so much time glued to that thing), so he had to slit Jean's throat on the way out, which he did

Jean couldn't leave, so his way out was death , but for that he needed Kevin to die first, so that no one could hold him accountable for his promise, and he would gladly let Kevin rot and kill himself if it meant he could do it too right after

And IT IS FINE. None of them is to blame for anything. The levels of abuse those kids endured cannot be easily measured at all. They were both holding on by a thread. For them at that moment in time there was only wanting the pain to stop, which is FINE. It doesn't matter how good or selfless you are, at some point it becomes too much and I am not even talking about physical pain. At some point you cannot endure anymore and all you need is a way out, a way to make it all stop.

This is more of a rant because the shade on Kevin for leaving is becoming kind of too much. Also saw some shade on Jean for being relivied that Kevin broke his hand. And just no. Yall need to stop

The only ones to blame here are the abusers

Specially Tetsuji, who raised a fucking monster and then allowed to roam free hurting people for nothing

(Ps: some of yall also seriously underestimate what Riko did to Kevin's hand. So just a reminder that this wasnt just a broken bone. It was a career ending injury. Kevin needed surgery just to be able to slightly move his hand again. At that moment Riko crossed a line he had never crossed before, not even with Jean: he tried to completly end Kevin's ability to play professionally. Surely, Riko had already broken Jean's bones before (which he had never did to Kevin before), but there is a difference between breaking a finger and smashing someone's hands with a racquet. The ladder means that you are gonna have multiple broken bones, broken in multiple points. Not to mention the possibility of cutting nervous connections, soft tissue getting basically destroyed togheter with muscle and blood vessels. I know many people who read this series don't really practice sports, but there is a huge difference between injuries (broken fingers, dislocated shoulder, sprained ankle, etc) and careers ending injuries, which basically means that it doesnt matter how much you want it and how much you are willing to keep on practicing through the pain, you might never be able to play at the same level as before. Kevin's case was the second one, and this isnt a debate at all in the books. Everyone agrees Kevin's come back as impressive and unexpected as hell. Even Jean, with all the pain he endured and had to play through at Evermore admits that it was unexepected for Kevin to come back or be able to play again at all, because it was. Riko lost all control that night. And it must have been scary as hell for them both. For Kevin, because he just had his whole life shattered with his hand and for Jean too, because if Riko got to the point of doing this to Kevin, his number 2, imagine what he could do to him if he lost control again (we get that answer when Kengo dies)

thinking about jeremy and kevin and their talk about jean and the ravens in chapter 8 of golden raven and how kevin said silence is the only way jean has a voice and acknowledges that it’s not right, but it’s all they can do and how jeremy is so insistent that jean deserves more, and kevin says he deserves peace and that’s why he’s here and jeremy still is like that is not. enough. and kevin says it’s more than he’s ever gotten and like…it’s just…jeremy and kevin know jean in such different ways and they each have such a deep bond with him but like….its vastly different from each others and also the friendship between jeremy and kevin? makes me insane. kevin saying he and jean aren’t friends (bc they’re not, they’re a weird secret third thing ((not romantic)) and jeremy said you’re mine to kevin and just moral of the story is the kevin and jeremy friendship means a lot to me

I was reading an ONS fic and had an intrusive thought about Kevin calling Riko "Riko nii," like "older brother" in jpanese. And then I thought, Riko wouldn't let Kevin forget his place as someone beneath him. So "Riko nii" would be in public, for the cameras, and "Oni-sama" in private... although considering how the internet has desecrated the innocence of that term, I now want to bleach my brain... but not before making it everyone's problem.

Considering it was painted with a box of cheap kids' markers, I'm happy with the result...

I combined days 4 and 5 (because I was lazy), which were Medieval and Ravens; so I sent Andrew to the wall to protect the realms of men XD (he's the raven). So it goes like this:

In this AU Andrew is a Stark, Aaron is the older of the two so he is the Lord of Winterfell and is married to Lady Katelyn Tully ;). When the war broke out Andrew's father decided to take a twin with him, Andrew, who lived through the war at a young age and had to be left in the care ofunreliable standard-bearers when his father fell in battle; so he was helpless against the war-torn adults until he returned home. Aaron was the Stark in Winterfell and stayed with his horrible mother during that time.

When Andrew killed Tilda, Aaron sent him to the Wall in a fit of rage, but quickly regretted the overreaction and called him back before he took his vows, although their relationship fragmented.

His cousin Nicky's parents, the Manderlys, forced him to marry Lord Bolton's daughter to "make him useful." The Lord was violent and abusive towards Nicky. Andrew caught him severely beating Nicky and killed him in retaliation. Unfortunately, Aaron couldn't prevent his brother from going to the wall this time for murdering a Lord vassal of his house without trial.

Nicky's wife died, and Nicky became Lord Bolton. Andrew went to the Wall, and Aaron got married. All three have direwolves they found after Andrew returned from the war. In fact, the wolves' appearance is what made Lady Tilda Stark even more violent and nervous.

I couldn't think of any names, so I won't try. Nicky's getting Lady, Aaron's getting Grey Wind, and Andrew's getting Ghost. All three are Wargs.

Neil: Nathaniel Velaryon, taken away by his mother after his father betrayed the Targaryens in the war, has been on the run ever since. Although Neil dreams of a dragon, which his mother won't let him have, not even she can get him to part with the dragon egg Kevin gave him when they first met (the egg belongs to Kayleigh's dragon).

His mother also had a dragon (she's the only one in her family who was able to gather enough blood to have one thanks to a past marriage in her family), but she abandoned it to run away with Nathaniel.

When his mother is murdered, Neil, despairing of his slim chances of survival, enters the funeral home with her. Eventually, he not only discovers an immunity to fire, but his egg hatches, giving birth to his dragon, which he names Meleys, the Valyrian version of Mary.

Knowing he has no allies in Braavos and with a target on his back for having a dragon, Nathaniel plans to return to Westeros (he doesn't want to stay in the Free Cities because Mary was killed by the Faceless Men and Nathaniel fears they will come for him). He plans to venture across the Wall and rid himself of all his pursuers, praying that his dragon will be winter-hardy.

Kevin: Kevin Nymeros Martell, Prince of Dorne and son of Princess Kayleigh Nymeros Martell. Kevin's grandmother is Princess Nymeria Targaryen, and his paternal grandmother is of Valyrian origin, so Kevin claimed SilverWing, the dragon of the good queen Alysanne, but in this AU I'm going to call her SilverQueen :D

Through her Valyrian blood and her heritage, Kayleigh was able to claim a dragon, Sunfire, and the king betrothed her to Tetsuji Targaryen. Kayleigh bore a son out of wedlock, but she refused to name the father. Tetsuji was upset, but the king wanted the Valyrian blood back in the family, so he offered to legitimize her son to inherit Dorne in exchange for her renouncing her inheritance and marrying. She accepted.

Kayleigh had a daughter and a baby son for Tetsuji, but during the war she and her three children were taken prisoner to keep Dorne in line. Kevin was taken to Dragonstone with Riko while his mother remained in the Red Keep. At the end of the war Kayleigh and her younger children met the same fate as Elia, Rhaenys and Aegon (only without the rape part because that is so horrible). David of House Dayne fought hard in the war and did not stop demanding the return of Kayleigh and her children home, after the death of the princess David enraged demands justice and the return of Kevin to Dorne. The king sees it as an insult after the war and sends him to the Wall. Tensions with Dorne are stronger than ever, so Kengo, the new king declares that Kevin will marry into the Targaryen family to keep him hostage on Dragonstone. Jeremy Martell, Kevin's second cousin, is named heir to Dorne. Jeremy gains the sympathy of the people and accepts his duty, but declares that there will be no full relationship between Dorne and the rest of Westeros until Princess Kayleigh and her children receive justice and Kevin is allowed to return home. Since then, Dorne has been isolated from Westerosi politics.

Riko doesn't have a dragon of his own, his egg didn't hatch, so Riko angrily declares that he'll only will ride the largest dragon, Vhagar, who belongs to Mary, so Riko hopes Mary's death will come quickly. But not having a dragon until then makes him feel humiliated, so he takes it out on Jean, (the son of a Greyjoy captain who married a runaway Targaryen princess, the father sold Jean to the Targaryens and Jean claimed Dreamfire) and rides with Kevin.

Dragons are empathically connected to their riders. When Riko arranges for Jean's sexual abuse she ruins Dreamfire's mating season. The Velaryon's betrayal involves a poison that affected many dragons, Dreamfire and SilverQueen are very valuable breeding females thanks to the egg and dragon shortage crisis affecting the royal family. Tetsuji is furious with Riko, it ruined Jean and Dreamfire for an indeterminate time. Luckily for him he discovers that Silver Queen is about to enter her breeding season, Kengo announces that Kevin will be moving to the capital so Silver Queen can mate with Ichirou's dragon, Verminthor. Riko flies into a fit of jealousy and attacks Kevin, scared for his life Kevin decides to run away, but is afraid of bringing the war back to his home if he returns to Dorne, so in the end he heads to the wall where his biological father is Commander of the guard.

Kandreil week Day 2: Apothecary

Now for a sketch with fibers. Keeping Neil Josten healthy is a two-man job.

Herbal salve for scars... I realize I forgot to draw Kevin's scars... well, we can just say the salve is really good and go to bed...

Well, I found my old pencil case and couldn't resist starting Kandreil Week with a sketch. I haven't drawn in a while, so it's not very elaborate.

P.S.: I used another artist's art as a reference. I couldn't find his name, but just to clarify.

I feel like in this AU, Andrew is only the leader in name, and most of the decisions in the village are handled by Renee and Aaron. Also, the iron mine wouldn't be that huge and invasive since the villagers just want to live with enough, not create a great empire, so relations with the spirits aren't good but not that hostile, since they let the monkeys reforest the forest and other things.

Also, Andrew has been interested in Neil/Mononoke's existence for a while but pretends not to. Kevin arrives one day with his left hand cursed, seeking guidance from Neil and the forest spirits. Andrew tells himself he's just going with him for the fun of it.

Since the mercenary can't ally with the village to hunt down the forest spirit, he seeks help from the samurai. Neil, Kevin, Andrew, the village, and the spirits unite to protect each other. In the end, Kevin is cured, and the forest spirit lives on. BECAUSE I SAID SO!

Neil, Kevin and Andrew live between the forest and the town, at their convenience, but they always end up together.

Curiously, I see Kevin more as the female protagonist of a romantasy. XD:

- The villain is obsessed with him.

- His best friend was in love with him.

- The male protagonist wants to protect him.

- He was the most talented in that universe, and it shows at the end.

- He's handsome, and they usually focus on his "pretty green eyes."

- His mother died tragically, and he lived the life of an orphan, a tragic story that didn't stop him from being a light in the darkness for others.

- He has an evil stepbrother. And an evil godfather.

- In the end, it's revealed that he's the son of an important character.

- He knows everyone.

- He is "royal" thanks to his mother and at the end of the series he reclaims his crown.

Should I continue? XD

I think its time I own up to something…

I picture Kevin as blonde.

Its horrendous I know but all I can think about is how Kevin is IRISH.

If you really think about Kevin fits the whole romantasy ‘Tall, dark, and handsome’ stereotype to a key. Over six foot, Dark hair, the last part is self explanatory.

I think that if Kevin knew Jeremy in his first year, he didn't know him as Captain Sunshine, but as that addicted boy, embroiled in a gay orgy scandal involving drugs and the death of his brother, a human disaster. However, he became his friend then and has remained so to this day. His friendship with Jeremy is the only thing Kevin had for himself, and that the Nest couldn't take away.

Kevin knew Jeremy would be good for Jean and asked him for help. He entrusted Jeremy with his brother.

Kevin Day trusts people, even when they can't trust themselves. 🥹❤️

Hey!! No worries! You’re the first person to actually interact with my post, so I was super happy!! I just hope I didn’t come across as someone who didn’t like Kevin, because I actually really love him!!

Haha, don't worry, it's obvious you love them. Like I said, I didn't mean to seem intense, it's just that I get a little geeky sometimes; quoting and listing things, correcting my spelling and indenting and rambling on and on, I'm not mad, I'm just in nerd mode...:p, I sweer it :')

Besides, Kevin is one of my favorite characters, and sometimes fans seem to forget that the books are skewed by Jean, Neil, and Jeremy's point of view, and that they understand the characters in a certain way.

It would be great to finally get to know Kevin's point of view, since the other characters talk about him, many events revolve around him while we know nothing, and Kevin knows more about the nest than Neil and Jean because he's been there longer and moves in higher circles. In the meantime, we can only speculate about his character, his motivations, and his actions. As much as Kevin is usually very honest, he also hides many secrets, both his own and others', that I'd like to know :')
