Hi, I am a Quilter, Runner, Gardener from New Zealand. I have a Blue Design Wall in my tiny sewing room where you can see what quilting projects I am working on. I will take you running with me and you can come for a walk in my garden and see what is growing. Thanks for popping in.

Rain has been happening a lot this week, in fact I cannot remember the last time we had rain for days in a row. There is flooding around the city and surrounds. We are by the sea on sandy ground which is free draining but still everything is soggy. So I started a new puzzle with lots of bright cheerful colours. Daughter challenged me to complete the puzzle in less than eleven hours and 2 minutes. So far so good. I have been working on panel 3 of the big blue star hexie quilt too and am closing in on the end of that. I will lay it all out on the floor again once panel 3 is done, can't wait to do that. I put another of my UFOs up on my design wall so I can look at it and decide how to quilt it and I have been messing about with some left over blocks from the scrappy star quilt. No shortage of things to do whilst keeping out of the rain. Today though the sun is shining and no rain is forecast so I better go hang the first load of washing on the line.

I was the only one on the beach today, little wonder it was pouring with rain. It has been raining all day so much so I did not leave the office. That meant I did not have many steps so I ran in the rain to get them and because its fun.

We visited Mum after work but she was asleep. We didn't wake her. We took forever to crawl home in the traffic but once we got there I headed out for a run. It was chilly out there and it was getting dark so I did not mess around. I ran around the streets and could smell all the dinners being cooked. Satay Chicken at my house, it smelt great as I ran past.

It was chilly when I set out for my long run and even colder when I ran into the forest. The view from the top of the hills was worth the climb. I met a friend and we stopped to chat, there was a lot to talk about and I did not stop my watch. I also stopped to watch a group of Fantails flitting and darting all around me. I ran the sandy hills on the way back towards home, they are hard work but so satisfying when done. I dipped back into the forest as I ran towards home but it was still chilly in there so I ran home along the beach in the warm sunshine. Such a perfect day for a run.

The baby quilt top I forgot I had made is now a quilt. I can cross it off my UFO list.

I have spent all morning choosing binding for these two quilts. I am still undecided on the scrappy star quilt. It will either be the while border fabric if I can get more or the royal blue. The baby quilt I will use the binding which has some of it in the quilt top. I am trying to use what I have.

So good to get out in the sunshine today. I just ran, no plan. i ran into the forest, it was chilly in there so i headed for the hills to take in the view, the sea looked pretty from up there. I had to go take a closer look. When I got back to the park I challenged myself to run as hard as I could through all of the soccer goal posts. The last part of my run was around the neighbourhood to find out what the annoying droning machinery sound was and where it was coming from. I found out so I ran home and ate cold pizza for lunch.

I have taken the days between Easter and Anzac Day off work. Despite having the worst eczema flare I have ever had in my life I am enjoying having plenty of time for exercise and stitching. I have decided that the only way to clear my UFO pile is for me to hand quilt all but one of them.

The squares in the front of the photo are a quilt as you go quilt so I will machines quilt that one. The rest I will have to divide my time working on the Big Blue Star Hexie Quilt and the ufo’s. So far so good. All I need now is a cure for eczema and I will be totally in my happy place.

I was immersed in housework when suddenly the sun burst through the window. I dropped everything and ran. I chased the sunshine into the forest and over the small hill. As I climbed the hill the heavy rain laden black clouds gathered the sun in once again. I ran on along the beach in the dim wintery light with the waves licking at my heels then suddenly the sun broke free and shone though the heavy clouds once again. I reached for my phone and captured an image to keep. Who knows when the sun will return again.

The rain is forecast to persist all day long so we put our rain jackets on and went for a walk. There were plenty of folk out walking dogs, running, and surfing. No one dissolved.

As the rain continues to pour down I continue to spend time in my sewing room. This afternoon after working on the tiny door I got out all of my UFO's and laid them out on the lounge room floor. I found one I had totally forgotten about. A baby quilt which will be a quick finish. They have all stalled at the same stage, the quilting. I don't want to machine quilt them because I am rubbish at machine quilting. I sat and wrote out plans for all of them to take them to the next step towards completion. I certainly do not want to start anything until these quilts have moved along or are finished. So watch this space and lets see if I can move them along.

Hubby was out walking early and captured the sunrise at the beach while I was still stacking zzzz's. I eventually got out the door and ran around the neighbourhood and the Wetland. We have had a lot of rain and I thought the forest might have too many puddles. There were a few drops of rain while I was running but it was mild so pretty good running conditions. I did stop to look at the eels so I am pretty pleased with my time. More rain is forecast for this afternoon.

I got a text from Daughter. She wanted to know if she could come for tea. She said she would bring pudding. I consulted with the chief cook and we agreed that pudding would be appreciated. Daughter arrived some time later with this colourful collection of cupcakes. They were delicious, sweet and as light as a feather. Mmmmm so good.

There is a small hole in our fence. Instead of buying a new fence paling, staining it then replacing the one with a hole in it I had a crafty idea. I made a wee door to cover the hole. I have applied a few coats of paint. It is a work in progress and it is much more fun that staining a paling.

I have been storing my embroidery cottons in that paper bag since I was about 8 years old. I bought a storage box and the wee cards to wrap the cottons onto a year or so ago. Today I finally found the time to get all of my cottons out of the old paper bag and into the storage case. When I told Daughter I had finally organised my embroidery cottons, she asked if I had donated the paper bag to the museum? Nice!
