I feel like people are too general when it comes to listening to stuff when they’re upset like when I’m sad I don’t just put on the first moody song I have on my playlist, no I get specific. Like real specific. Seriously the next time you feel sad find a song that relates to your situation, and I don’t mean “I got broken up with so I put on driver’s license” no I mean a song that is really uncannily about your current situation like “I got broken up with during an angry debate with my partner over the ethics of society’s prioritization of the vehicular over the citizen while renewing my license at the dmv so I put on driver’s license”.

All this is to say is that from experience, if you ever find yourself in a position where you have just had a rather heated falling out with the wealthy maternal side of your family due to finally speaking out and taking action against their lack of morals, empathy, common sense, and eagerness to ignore the problems not simply within the family, but also those which burden the world, I would highly recommend looping “Bird Cage Blue and Yellow” by Yaelokre

On vacation right now and where I am it’s like twelve and I kept refreshing my Spotify because because it’s tmagp Thursday and where I live at around twelve the new episode should be out. I then remembered like an idiot that I’m in a different time zone. A time zone that’s four hours ahead from my normal one. So the new episode won’t be out for four hours.

There will be an mark on my forehead for weeks from the face palm that followed my realization of the obvious.

Ima be so honest with you guys on my first listen through of tma I did not clock that Jon had a knife and I thought that things just got insanely dark out of nowhere and Jon kicked Jonah to death I was like ok Jon get his ass ig but I did not know you could just do that.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like if the consciousnesses of the bodies Jonah possessed were able to communicate with him. At first I thought it would be super tragic and poetic, much in the way of the short story “troll bridge” by Neil gaiman(fuck that guy btw this post is in no way pro Neil gaiman just thought I should mention that real quick) specifically, this line from jack at the end of the story:

“I looked at him: wearing my life comfortably, easily, as if he’d been wearing it for years.”

And while I still think there’s a case for that angsty parallel, I also remembered how much of a vain condescending asshole Jonah is, rather than the stoic cosmic entity that the troll was, and how unlikely it would be for petty stoner Elias Bouchard to just sit there in a respectful and quiet defeat like jack if he saw how old jimmy magma was living Elias’s life and knew Jonah could hear him.

So now I think it would go more like this

Been doing a lot of tma/tmagp sketches in my sketchbook while on break at work lately so you can probably expect some of that in the near future👍 sry for not posting any art for a while btw the new jobs been kicking my ass but I’m starting to settle in so I’ll probably start posting more consistently soon.

I also recently figured out how to draw a side profile in my style in a way that doesn’t make me vomit so stay tuned for that ig

IN THE IMMORTAL WORDS OF MIKAELE SALESA:

Oh my god, thank you so much @hoping-for-novelty for giving me the idea for the following theory.

Massive spoilers for all of protocol up till now btw

So.

In MagP 26 “catching up”, when asked by the case protagonist who they are, [ERROR] responds with “an archivist”.

An archivist. As in one of many.

Two of the big questions of protocol are

A) “what is error?” And B) “what happened to Jon?(and Martin and maybe Jonah ig but shhhhh this ain’t about them)”. Most people theorize that Jon is in the computer, or Jon is error, or that error is the Magnus institute Manchester’s failed attempt at an archivist, and I think that while alone those theories are interesting but not necessarily probable, together they begin to paint a picture.

For a while I thought that Jon was split in half, with Jon in FR3-D1 and the archivist becoming error, and while now looking back it’s a good starting point, I also don’t think that’s the case, as we see later on instances of FR3-D1 being straight up malevolent and monstrous and error showing, though small, more human tendencies, such as confusion(MagP 37), so it’s unlikely to be such a clean split of monster from human, and because FR3-D1 as a system is pretty much a literal digital archive.

But then the above post got me thinking. What if FR3-D1 isn’t just Jon as the archivist, but the HEAD archivist? What if error, who called themself AN archivist, and has a different voice actor is an extension of the archivist, like how FR3-D1 can tap into devices to see or listen through them, what if that’s what error is? What if that’s why it let Sam live? So that he could become another one of it’s archival assistants which is why we see him able to either compel TMA!alice or at least direct error on where to focus to get a statement.

This next part is a bit of a leap but what if that’s what teddy’s new job is doing? In episode 28 Teddy says that his new job is not normal(presumably supernatural) and is trying to talk to Alice about it but gets cut off. And in the bonus episode “what if #1- what if everyone listened to Colin” almost everyone is fired, and when they are, Teddy approaches them representing his new job to offer them jobs, showing that whatever teddy’s new job is, it’s headhunting ex-OIAR employees. And in episode 35, after bumping into Alice, teddy fearfully directly addresses FR3-D1 through the camera it’s watching him through saying that “he’s on his way”, implying that he is in some way working for FR3-D1. So my theory is that because OIAR workers have some sort of exposure to FR3-D1 and pre existing experience with the paranormal that drove them to work there, Teddy’s new job is in some way doing something to them that is turning them into something that can then become an extension or an archivist, not necessarily to the degree of error, but still an extension. Or maybe they are just turning their employees or subjects into avatars, and they turn just ex OIAR employees into extensions, though I think this theory is a little out there.

Also I think it’s quite possible that Teddy in some way works for the Elric rehabilitation initiative but that’s a theory for another time.

But then that leaves the question of why would Jon do this? Well, it seems that when the powers got dragged over, they got mixed up, no longer so distinguishable, so maybe if the archivist got dragged over with them, it got muddled up to; stuck in a computer with familiar voices along side it that it can’t quite place, a monster that knows it’s purpose but is lost and confused, with impressions of memories it can’t quite place from when it was a human with a name that it can no longer remember among it’s limitless knowledge, but somewhere, deep down it remembers something from its past, though it is not privy to the context surrounding it.

People. Assistants, helpers in it’s archive, that collected information for it. It remembers them fondly, though it does not know why. So in a new world, confined to it’s little cage of machinery, reaching out for something familiar, it creates assistants to aid it once again.

And now that it is simply an archive, well, an archive needs archivists, doesn’t it? And if the workers of the OIAR were the people looking after the archive, what could they be other than archivists?

Also maybe that’s what’s gonna happen to Colin. By this logic wouldn’t he be considered an archivist? And FR3-D1 ate him and discarded his physicality, but not his soul, so maybe he’ll be turned into an archivist like error, a hive mind of archival assistants reporting back to the head archivist. Maybe that’s the endgame for all of them.

But then again I could also be completely wrong. Idk. Sorry for how rambley this got but tell me what you think. Ok I’m gonna go study for my exams now byeeeeeeeeeee

Counter theory kinda related to this: what if the summaries come to him after he reads who the statement is from? Like once he knows the name of who the statement is from, the eye gives him the summary of their story

Because if that’s how it works than in theory that would mean that if Jonah wrote his statement but at the top wrote the name and statement number of a different pre existing statement, for the sake of this argument hazel Rutter’s about a fire in her childhood home, that would mean that rather than reading the name Jonah Magnus and getting the summary of Jonah’s statement, he would read the name hazel rutter, resulting in the eye giving him the summary of hazel’s statement instead, effectively using a supernatural bureaucratic loophole to trick Jon, which honestly seems very in character for Jonah, but that’s just my theory.

wait hold on how did jonah fake the statement summary in 160. like jon just gets beamed those directly into his noggin, did he somehow put like. glamour over his Hello John Apologies F🔫anyway. or did he put a summary in text at the beginning? does this mean that some of the statements do have summaries written at the beginning even before they're recorded. was one of Gertrude's assistants in the habit of scanning over them and scrawling a summary on the front before shoving them in a random filing box. did jonah forge eric delano's handwriting. i can't imagine jon would have even started reading the statement if it was the only one with a summary on the front

If you’ve been on my page for a while now you’ll see that every few months or so, I throw out my current design for Elias and redesign him from scratch, and I did this because no matter how hard I try, something about the design feels off and I could never figure out why but I think I finally realized why it is so difficult for me to draw Elias:

In my opinion as an artist who primarily draws Magnus characters, it is hardest to draw Elias in a way that original insecure stoner burnt out gifted kid climbing the corporate ladder Elias, and possessed evil bureaucratic Victorian two steps ahead and scary magic psychopath Jonah Magnus Elias, though they may look very different, still look like they could feasibly be the same person, with the same facial features, and it’s hard to look at such different characters with pretty much zero things in common and make a character design who’s face could fit both of them.

I think I figured it out though so stay tuned👁️

I’m just gonna say it.

I think malevolent fumbled by not doing more with Arthur’s sworn(though forced by circumstance and reluctant) worship of Horig. And there’s like no fanfics about it so I can’t get my usual fix on Ao3.

Just think about it! There could have been a whole plot line of Arthur actually doing what horig wants out of fear, justifying it as “just one sacrifice and it’s over”, but that just keeps snowballing, and slowly Arthur is seemingly becoming a more genuine worshiper of horig, though he would deny it to no end when John points out his behaviour to him, but it’s clear that Arthur is beginning to lose himself in the hopelessness that he sees in their situation that has been brewing within him, until it boils over, similar to what happens in part 49, but instead of embracing death, John watches in horror as Arthur has near fully become a genuine acolyte of horig.

We then for the rest of the episode have Arthur in a manic frenzy à la ”the bedrock”, but instead of hunting for a cultist by proxy, he’s hunting for a sacrifice for horig, but this time rather than choosing an adult that Arthur can justify the death of as “they were a horrible person and thus deserved to die so I’m killing two birds with one stone”, Arthur is considerate of who he is going to kill on behalf of his master, who would be the perfect sacrifice for horig? He stalks the citizens of a small village all day until he finds his perfect sacrifice. He spots some kid, a brat, bullying another child for being an orphan. This sparks anger in Arthur as painful memories from his childhood are resurfaced, making him finalize his decision to sacrifice the kid. He chases after him, out of site and in the shadows following him as he walks home, all the while John is desperately trying to get him to stop.

Finally, Arthur is just a few steps behind the kid, who still hasn’t spotted him, and is raising his knife when suddenly, right beside them, John spots a large stack of firewood, and in one final desperate act to stop Arthur, John sparks the lighter and lights the wood on fire. This startles Arthur out of his mania as he sees in the fire just like malam told him, his daughter, causing him to take stock of what he’s doing, just in time to notice that the boy he was following has finally turned around. He looks up at Arthur with fear in his eyes and slowly, Arthur, horrified at what he was about to do, drops his knife. The boy runs, and for a moment Arthur is about to succumb to his mania again but then John starts a classic Malevolent Intervention™️ where john lays into him about how he’s lost himself and become a monster, a cultist, and a would be child killer, everything Arthur stands against, and how Arthur has abandoned his morals and humanity. Arthur would try to deny it and would start spouting some nonsense about how John shouldn’t be one to point fingers, deflecting the blame, but John doesn’t take the bate. John then uses his hand and gestures to the fire while bringing up faroe and Arthur yells at him saying he has no right to bring her up, but Arthur knows he’s right, and eventually Arthur just breaks down and cries.

Then later he feels like once again an irredeemable monster, but later in the season he saves the lives of several children or something that shows to him that he can be better, and that he is not beyond redemption.

And then they can do the castle or whatever🤭

Now, am I mad at Harlan for not doing more on the horig storyline in season five? No obviously I’m not insane I know that Harlan wouldn’t have been able to fit all of that and the castle and the journey and all the stuff prior to horig in season five. I just feel it was a missed opportunity for Arthur to do something so drastic and then for it to barley come up again as anything but a sickness. Still, there is a possibility for at least elements of a storyline like this to happen in season six.

But am I disappointed that only like 2 authors on ao3 see the vision? Yes. There are criminals few fanfics about horig. And I’m bad at writing. So if anyone who is good at writing wants to take this as inspiration for a fic, you have my full endorsement.

Update on Jonah’s adventure in London!

He didn’t have a great time.

Turns out that when you’re told the entity your chasing’s supernatural power is jumping relatively high, and they’re named after their ability to jump relatively high, and everyone’s reports only state that the entity was able to jump relatively high, so you only make preparations to encounter an entity that can jump relatively high, but it turns out that everyone failed to mention that this entity is also able to vomit balls of blue flames, well… you’re kind of fucked. Sorry bud. Better luck next time.

Report cards just came in wanna give a quick shoutout to Amber Devereux and @jonnywaistcoat your episode got me a 98% on my design technology final summative(I built a podcast accurate working hand-cranked model of Heinrich Unheimlich’s carrousel)👍

You’ll be happy to note that this resulted in full pages of my design notebook being completely covered solely in increasingly violent illustrations of pigs, as well as me spending hours rigorously drawing pigs in my notebook while loudly ranting to anyone unfortunate enough to overhear about my anger regarding their anatomy, much to the amusement of my teacher.

Thanks for the grade and my newfound hatred of drawing pigs🫡
