Užgavėnės masks. I know this holiday has a lot of harmful stereotypes used as masks in Lithuania so I decided to... not draw any of our traditional ones. Instead, all of these are horror movie monsters - see if you can guess which is which. 😛 Some are a bit niche..

Did an art trade with a pal (they made me a really cool elf hat/hood with a pom on the end for my garb!) and I drew them this snake and eye combo :) it’s really small, about 5x7 framed.

heyo! so I’ve been offline and not working for a long time now because I may or may not have had covid, then an ear infection, then an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, so unlike many of my editorial peers I have to admit with full transparency that I did not have a full day’s pay to offer. I’ve instead donated to this donation splitting tool for BLM and have been playing the donate video, and have committed to the following:

- As I return to work I’ll be researching publications and jobs before pitching them or accepting gigs, to make sure that not only am I not accepting a job that should have been offered to a Black illustrator, but any job I do accept is not perpetuating further racism. EG, asking more concretely what the article is about, who wrote it, etc. There’s been a lot of conversations on Twitter about this today and I believe someone may be compiling a resource to track it more easily, am not sure about end result yet.

- Publicly sharing my pay from a publication or client whenever possible. Lack of transparency in illustration and design pay makes it easier for discrimination to occur, and not talking about it makes you complicit. ✨

- Many of you on here and on insta have asked about prints and I have replied privately, but I would like to state publicly that when I do make them, I will not and will never offer prints of any of my offering candle images or the Inktober series focusing on BIPOC witchcraft imagery. I was given permission and encouraged to participate in an art challenge hosted by @/poetagoddess and feel it is inappropriate as a white person to sell them. I encourage you to instead check out GDBee or tearoseillustration on Insta. Edited to add: HelloWildflowerrr makes amazing stickers and pins too!
