Stepping out of the darkness and into the
light beyond the confines of the
tube station, the same construction project is
unfinished across the road. It’s been there for
years now, since the last time I walked these
roads and took these trains. The last time I was
here, a part of you was with me. Now I carry the
memory of us in my back
pocket. Taking the familiar side streets, hearing songs you told me to
listen to playing from somewhere long
ago and far away. The white building, the
cheap hotel I stayed in, spending mornings on a
transatlantic call, the sound of your
voice drowned out by the fan in my
room. Now the voice is a
whisper, carried on the wind, rebounding through the
underground tunnels, revived whenever I step into that
familiar light.

Gonna keep an inspiration tag. Never know how personal to get on here but might do an intro with a bit of detail on my WIP(S) without naming them

Writing the first draft is not "is the structure sound?"
It's "does the blueprint exist?"

when Charles Bukowski said "and when nobody wakes you up in the morning, and when nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do whatever you want. what do you call it, freedom or loneliness?"
