Wandering Garden V: Broken Heart

I know, I know; I said I wasn’t going to post anymore updates, just the finished piece…

In my defense, my new job (which I’m still trying to find a good work/life balance with) also happened to coincide with one of the worst nerve pinches I’ve had in recent memory. It’s been hard to hold a pencil to say the least.

What I thought would take a couple of weeks has turned into much longer.

It wasn’t part of the original plan (pfft… “plan”), but I transferred Nick to new paper after I found the eraser marks to be too irritating to ignore. Plus one point to digital in that regard.

Next up is color, so I won’t post a full view until he’s walking out the door… to who knows where🥲

The good news is he’s not nakedly anymore; he’s wearing his hat 🕵️‍♂️

American goldfinch: Spinus tristis

I finished the two American goldfinches, Sunny and Olive, today!

All the songbirds have found their way to the vine, though some took different paths to get there.

You can be assured, most are chirping all at once and making a delightful cacophony

Finished the templates for the 2 Black-capped chickadees today

Though are lacking in neck they make up for it in overall cuteness 🤗

Lady finch template is done!

Template 1 of... 3(?) of the American goldfinches is done. This lil feller will be part of my large compilation piece that has the nuthatch as the focus. I'll have a couple of lads and at least one lady finch, along with some Tufted titmice and Black-capped chickadees.
