I absolutely loved your Character Analysis on James Ratri.
From my perspective, people who took an interest in James Ratri’s character often saw him as this untouchable and highly prepared character (like an entity, a form of freedom for the cattle children and the farm system) but during his final moments, I dare say James may have found himself both alone and desperate. There were too many casualties when it came to following his plan, Goldy Pond became a COMPLETE failure from the moment it was turned into a hunting ground. Also the portals that lead to the human world. The hidden elevator in goldy pond that he left as a path to the human world became completely useless.
As brilliant as he was... James, in a way, was really selfish when it came to his actions.
Before everything, he was proud of be a Ratri, proud to carry on the family’s legacy.
As I said before, him being seen amd poetrayed as this untouchable character and still a mystery in many ways feels frustrating. I would have loved to see a more personal side of his. Seeing him as a man trying to redeem himself.
James seeked peace of these children and their freedom but also desperately seeked for his own redemption.
(I’m still upset at the fact that when the official character information charts were released, most of the information about him was blurred out? Like what was the reason? At least tell us his actual height or birthday!)
(I don’t think James was too old when he was killed. Peter was probably around fifteen when he took over the Ratri Clan)
Thank you! I spent all morning making this post.
And the way you describe James is so accurate. Before he found out about the truth about how the Promise was created, he used to be proud of his family's legacy, I doubt he didn't even dislike any part of it. But upon finding out the truth, he started feeling so many things, mostly regret and guilt. Like you said, he wasn't only trying to seek peace for the cattle children, but was also trying to seek redemption for himself. He's not this untouchable, idolizing character, he's human. An accurate representation of a human being trying to separate himself from his family's curse.
(RIGHT?! Like, what is his birthday? His height? How old is this man?! I heavily headcannon that he's in his late twenties to early thirties.)

Yes, I agree with this.
I really dislike how people hate Peter Patri (more specifically Peter when he was a child) because "ew that little kid is evil." Let's not forget that Peter looked up to James as a child. I really do doubt that James was already not a fan of the promise before he found out the real story of how the promise was made. James 100% was in full support of it and definitely was telling Peter about how amazing the Ratri clan was and probably shoving phrases like "praise be our wonderful clan" or something in Peter's face since he was born. James isn't innocent and is 100% the reason Peter backed up the promise so much especially when he was a child.

A Character Analysis on James Ratri
!!SPOILERS FOR THE PROMISED NEVERLAND!!
Okay for starters, James is a good man. The moment he discovered the truth about the Promise, he secretly made it his mission to give the cattle children a chance to live in freedom, even if it meant he had to die for it to happen.
But just because he wanted to atone for the things his ancestors had done, doesn't mean that he didn't support the promise in the beginning, because he definitely did. And it's possible that he may have encouraged Peter to do the same, which explains the reason why he is the way he is.
(Heck, the manga even confirms it. Peter loves his brother more than anything in the world and would literally do what he could in order to stand by him)

From generation to generations, every single leader of the Ratri Clan has been taught a different version of how the Promise came to be. Julius's allies are deemed as "rogues who were against world peace" and Julius is deemed as the hero who made things right in order to maintain peace within the two worlds. But in reality, Julius's allies were betrayed by Julius himself and became the first generation of humans to be offered to the demons as cattle. All for the sake of world peace.

It makes me wonder why the Ratri Clan hid the document that talked about Julius's regrets rather than burn it, because it's clear that without that document, James would've never found out about the truth about the farm system and things would've gone as normal.

Speaking about James, it's implied that at first, he did support the thousand year legacy that his family had carried, and really didn't think much about the cattle he was selling to the demons. But upon finding out that the cattle children are, in fact, descendants of Julius's allies, he starts to realize that his entire life was based on a lie, and that the children he was told to sacrifice in order to maintain peace between both humans and demons, had no real fault in the matter. James starts to realize this and feels guilty for not thinking about the children's lives from the beginning.

That's why he took on the name of William Minerva. He endured the injustice towards the cattle children for years, and now that he knew the truth, decided to take matters into his own hands in the form of a fake identity. He had become so desperate to protect the children, that he didn't think much about Goldy Pond when he had it built near fucking demon territory

In fact, I believe that this is a huge flaw of his that makes his character interesting. He's idealistic to the fault, and he believed in giving the children tools to escape and safe havens to reside in, but he does not prepare them fully for the dangers they are going to face outside the farms, which is why his shelters are kind of a failure in my opinion.
Another huge flaw of his is indecisiveness. His way of rebelling, in my opinion, is a refusal to stand up against the system face to face, and he would rather leave behind secret messages rather than taking direct action towards his own clan.
I understand why he did it though. He couldn't break the Promise himself due to his status, and he knew that if he confronted the system directly, he would be silenced. And he didn't want to risk that happening so easily.

He's also very overreliant on others now that I think about it. He placed all hope of dismantling the system to the cattle children, without thinking if they could handle the burden. Yes, his words may have gave them courage, but it also put a lot of weight on their shoulders, especially to Norman, who took his name in order to be seen as a person everyone could rely on.
Yet, when he took his final breath, all he can say as his last words were "I'm sorry", which is canonically directed to Peter. He regrets leaving Peter to suffer the burden of knowing the truth about the promise, and having to deal with his responsibilities due to stepping away from his possition as the 35th clan leader in order to rebel in secret. So as his last words, he apologizes to his brother for leaving him alone with the burden.

So in conclusion, James Ratri may have not started out as a good person, but he tried his best to break the legacy his family had started, even if it meant death would face him.

Man, James's character is really intriguing, I could do a character analysis of that motherfucker
James is a funny guy and the cattle children are so incredibly lucky no one in the Ratri clan decided to burn that document.

This is literally Norman and reader:

Can you do tpn hcs for a fem! reader that's extremely silent, very antisocial, and withdrawn and is a girl of very few words, but also intelligent on a terrifyingly dangerous level, and she often jump scares people due to how quiet she is?
A.N: I saw this comment on Isabella’s lullaby on yt and it said, “Gotta appreciate Ray for keeping his goth aesthetic despite the white clothing he wears all the time” and it was just really funny😭😭😭
WARNING: This has spoilers for TPN/ also fem!reader.
Tpn characters with a fem!reader of few words
Emma:
Sunshine and moon friendship for sure.
Though she was a bit intimidated by you at first.
She swore up and down that’d she’d make you open up to people more.
She doesn’t mind your silence really, she just wants you to learn how to express yourself!
And she also wants to hear you voice-
She’s probably only heard you voice a few times, but she cherishes them so much.
You probably spoke a bit more when Emma and Norman had found out the secret about the orphanage.
(You found out because Emma and Norman told you outside near the wall before they told Ray, but Ray was spying on you 3 so it doesn’t matter)
Your intelligence scares Emma tbh.
Like you’re probably on Mamas level of wits.
Honestly when you do talk she probably misses what you say because of how excited she gets when you do talk.
Sometimes she doesn’t even know that you’re in the same room as her, and it makes her feel really bad :(
Like sometimes you four will have a meeting and she’ll randomly be like,
“Wait, where’s y/n!? She’s part of the-”
“She. Is. Right. There.”
“What? looks beside her oh!”
You scare her so bad sometimes omg.
She has to constantly look around to make sure that you’re in or not in the same room she’s in.
Regardless she thinks that you’re the best sister ever, even with how quiet you are.
Norman:
You’re personal translator.
Somehow he knows what you’re thinking without showing it on your face, even if you tried to mask it. So after a while you just kinda relied on him to express what you’re saying.
It’s kind of scary actually.
He doesn’t mind your quiet nature, he thinks you’re calming in a sense.
When the secret was discovered he expected you to remain stoic, for an emotional y/n was uhm..unnatural.
In which you did, though he could see a bit of sorrow in those blank eyes of yours.
Like I said when you do speak it’s a surprise but he’s not like Emma where he’s too excited to hear you, he’ll think it’s nice to hear your voice but doesn’t make it a big deal.
Intelligence wise, you both are pretty head to head.
You both probably play chess a lot.
You like it because of the minimal interactions, he likes it because it’s a learning experience.
He’ll challenge you to more activities as well.
Especially tag.
Please stop scaring him though.
At least once a day he gets jump scared by you, during tag, in the halls, or even just standing he gets on edge.
So his solution? He asked you to tap his shoulder whenever you enter his vicinity.
It saves him lots of heartaches.
Ray:
Relates to you at a point.
You’re antisocial, he’s an emo. Same thing.
He wasn’t worried about your shipment coming early because you’re hella smart.
He honestly does not give af if you spoke or not.
Thought you were mute when you came into the orphanage but Isabella shut down that theory and simply told him that you didn’t like talking.
You give him heart attacks sometimes.
Like when everyone is playing tag while he’s reading, sometimes he looks to the side just to see you staring at him over his shoulder.
Please stop.
He loves you greatly but just stop.
“What are you doing, go play tag.”
“😐”
“I’m not reading to you.”
Honestly he’s surprised Isabella didn’t make you be the traitor.
But he wouldn’t want that burden on you anyway.
After Norman’s departure you became a little more talkative, not having someone to rely on translating for you anymore.
Don’t push it tho, a sentence per day.
“Emma, do you think I should wear a skirt or pants..?”
Those were literally the first words he’s heard you said since you found out the secret.
He hopes you’ll talk to HIM soon🙄
