How I'm walking into work tomorrow after spending a week of everyone (black/afro&non black Colombians) swooning over my complexion and telling me how beautiful I am. On a serious note Colombia is more than a vacation spot for me. It's a safe space, a refuge, and where I feel true love and pride in my skin. And no, not from swooners/admirers, but from walking the streets seeing faces like my own, sharing stories, and feeling the culture, influence, pride, and love for blackness. For my blackness, for our blackness. After a short hiatus (the summer) I've started back writing. It has always played a huge part in my mental health.
