From a project I was working on before going in another direction, but still wanted to post this. Inspired by this photo of mourning doves nesting in the fossil of a triceratops, and how it tells us that the world can end, just not forever.

"Do you ever dream of land?" The whale asks the tuna.
"No." Says the tuna, "Do you?"
"I have never seen it." Says the whale, "but deep in my body, I remember it."
"Why do you care," says the tuna, "if you will never see it."
"There are bones in my body built to walk through the forests and the mountains." Says the whale.
"They will disappear." Says the tuna, "one day, your body will forget the forests and the mountains."
"Maybe I don't want to forget," Says the whale, "The forests were once my home."
"I have seen the forests." Whispers the salmon, almost to itself.
"Tell me what you have seen," says the whale.
"The forests spawned me." Says the salmon. "They sent me to the ocean to grow. When I am fat with the bounty of the ocean, I will bring it home."
"Why would the forests seek the bounty of the oceans?" Asks the whale. "They have bounty of their own."
"You forget," says the salmon, "That the oceans were once their home."

Cleaned up scan of the Nakks and Maud wip from a few weeks ago! If I wasn't trying to do something so quick, I probably would have played with the composition some more, since their colors are so close their faces kind of blend together.

2024
it sure was a year of good and bad.
a mixture of paintings I've done, photos I've taken, and painting over photos I've taken.
Some of it will make sense to some people probably some of it probably only means things to me but some of it I just needed to get down in some form, maybe process some of this grief.

I'm a full time artist now.
Art has been my hobby ever since I was able to hold a pencil and in the past four years it has also been my side hustle. My art business turned 4 years in September.
I remember clearly making a conscious decision years ago that art will only ever be a hobby for me. Back then I didn't know what other things a professional artist could be other than a fine artist or a graphic designer. All I wanted to draw was animals and fantasy creatures.
It feels quite surreal to be sitting here, in a position where I am making a living drawing animals and fantasy creatures – or at least attempting to. I quit my day job and profession that kept me financially afloat for eight years. I needed to know if there was a different way to live my life.
I have no idea how things are going to go from here but I know that I am doing something that makes me happy and something that can also bring joy to others.
I can with full confidence say that none of this would have been possible without your support. Every time you have bought something from me, left a nice comment or in any shape or form let me know you enjoy my work you have helped me get to this point.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me get to this point and making something that once was a distant dream possible.
I'm really looking forward to where this path leads!
