Did you find Shadowclan in the swamp
Nay... cats in a bird reservation would be disastrous since they aren't as intelligent as the characters in canon nor BB. Sadly, I shall never witness ShadowClan in their natural habitat.
However I DID daydream about them wistfully the entire time and I have a cool new idea for when I do more work on their part of the map.
There was a big, deep set of tracks gouged into part of the walk, filled with water and teeming with duckweed. It's probably an intentional scrape to wet the area, like artificial coral reefs, but I immediately imagined a big bulldozer getting stuck in the mud after trying to flee a cool fight
In my head I'm calling it The Scar. The lake territory needs more cool landmarks.

Partner found an unusual yellow pinecone, only to sadly discover that it was actually just an eaten corncob 💀 but that aside we did nothing but skip whimsily beside the wetlands

I would love to know any other biome specific mods you recommend! Or biome mods in general. I usually just add biomes o' plenty or oh the biomes you'll go but I really love ecology stuff so Ive been wanting to spice stuff up!!
Funny enough I'm not a big BOP fan, I find the biomes a bit lacking in comparison to other big worldgen mods!
My absolute favorite is Biomes We've Gone, which is the new total recode of Biomes You'll Go. They've added new features and mobs to several biomes while cutting bloat, so every addition has something special.
Regions Unexplored is also really good. It adds biomes inspired by the real world, but also sprinkles in some suuuuper fancy fantasy ones too. The Prismacave is breathtaking in particular, and I often forget that it's adding so many nice plains and beaches until I foolishly play without it.
Its only issue is that it adds Nether biomes with a heavy weight, so it gets really hard to find vanilla nether biomes. I always make sure they're reduced by at least 75% in the config, so it's not hard to find your Nether Necessities
(My boo, watching me write this: "i couldn't even find netherrack <:/")
If you're REALLY looking for Quality over Quantity though? Play with the whole biome set from Team Abnormals. Upgrade Aquatic, Environmental, Autumnity, and Atmospheric. They follow Mojang's design philosophy to try and make sure all of their mods fit seamlessly with vanilla style. They're a must-have in my book.
Some smaller additions I like a lot;
Nyctophobia: Adds a couple subdued overworld biomes based on eerie concepts, like a dead sea, a bleached reef, and a haunted forest, all without new blocks.
Mystic's Biomes: Emphasises adding new biomes with bright colors and whimsy, adding in some especially cute mobs like red pandas and sea otters.
Gardens of the Dead: Chucks two pretty new biomes into the nether, with two super pretty woodsets. Unfortunately a pretty big file, but I yearn for it.
If you're looking for ecology and realism though, I'll point you in the direction of William Wyther's! They have a couple of varying "strengths" of overhauls, one simply revamping terrain generation, and another adding hundreds of new biomes with only vanilla blocks.
Afaik, WW's series is all based on real biomes too, so that may be what you're looking for.
For me, I value a good mix. I adore real ecology, but Minecraft has always struck me as a fantasy setting. So I like when new biomes provide me with interesting settings to inspire new builds.

Bones I know you love all types of wetlands so question, if you had free reign what would you do with the Minecraft swamp biome to update it bc they are…. Lacking rn
I actually run so many biome mods I often forget how terrible vanilla swamps are. Environmental by Team Abnormals is enough to fluff it up, but I'm also running Biomes We've Gone and Regions Unexplored so I absolutely never have an issue with wetlands.
I have also been greedily eyeing Wetland Whimsy, even though my pack is already kind of big <:/ I have also had Swampier Swamps recommended, which adds swamp gas, more frogs, swamp villages, etc, but I never ran it myself.
If it was up to ME though I'd go nuts and try to make wetland biomes with an emphasis on individuality. Generally trying to pick palettes which stand on their own and don't "overlap" as much as some of the other biome mods do.
Like,
Salt Marsh: Tawny and red, temperate wetland always bordering an ocean. Allows for the collection of salt to use for fish n chips.
Rainbow Swamp: Dull pink and oil-rainbow. Based on a phenomenon in flooded cypress woodlands which turns the water iridescent.
Blackwater Marsh: Orange and black. Based on Okefenokee at sunset-- a blackwater wetland of significant ecological importance in Georgia.
Clay Bog: Gray and dark brown. Fantasy biome for emphasis on gameplay, since I feel like there should be a biome where clay is easier to get.
For vanilla swamps themselves though, I probably couldn't do better than what Swampier Swamps accomplished. I would want to load it up with lots of plants, bugs, and flowers, and also make it have more mud than dirt blocks.
The more honest answer is probably that I would do everything in my power with free reign to force mojang to give me the power to cook more things.
"You have free reign to update the swamp biome"
"Ok. I construct a clay brick oven and catch a new catfish mob out of the water so I can cook it. And then it's a peaceable block called Chucklehead Feast."

Learning that it used to be a popular wartime dish, because it's so hearty and easy to make. It's just currants, suet, and flour, plus custard as a drizzle. The recipe we followed also added lemon and citrus zest, just enough to give it an extra hint of complexity.
It's got a "stodgy" texture, fluffy yet thick, like a cake mixed with a bread. The flavor is mellow, in a good way. It's a pleasant thing to eat, especially if you're a fiend like me and tearing off chunks to dip in custard.
Allegedly in some places it was baked in huge logs and slices would be cut off to be sold. The huge log was called "Dead Man's Leg."
I want to start making this for breakfast ngl. It's filling.
Ah shit. Spotted Dick is really really good. How the hell am I gonna go around telling ppl that i found a new favorite food in england and it's called Spotted Dick

brit report
Bickerton Hill FUCKS. It's not the time of year where the heather blooms, but it's still so obviously lush it's amazing
Gorse DOES smell like coconut, can confirm. But you have to get close to the flower and give it a good sniff, and it's a very thorny plant.
Treecrawlers are a 9/10 bird
Part of the trail is like, haunted. The trees have eyes, one is smooth like skin, there's a weird face, etc.
I found a lost scarf. I have been told this is a scene in Blair Witch. I am putting it next to my black eclipse crystal.
Sometimes brits say an item in clearance is "on offer" instead of "on sale"
I'm beginning to wonder if the idea of "Convenience Tax" is actually unique to me as an American, or as an individual. Is it not common to refer to the fact that convenience stores are more expensive than grocery stores as "Convenience Tax"?
Have noticed that being American and having a very thick accent means that people often assume I'm friendly (which i am tbf) and open up quicker.
I have been told it is not that easy for the Brits I'm visiting to make friends with strangers. Cultural difference or skill issue? WHO KNOWS
I got a free apple :)
Not beating American stereotypes, unfortunately. I eat noticably more food than my companions, am a lot louder, act extremely friendly and have no sense of sublety, etc. I AM trying, though.
There's a lot of little behaviors in that which I take for granted as normal back home.
I mentioned the concept of "talking to a stranger on the bus" while telling a story and the whole group looked at me like I was describing an unspeakable crime
Special flavored coffees are impossible to find; I had to bring blueberry coffee with me
And creamer? Nonexistent besides Coffeemate (GACK)
However; fancy breads are much easier to encounter. I have fallen in love with Tiger Bread.
There's a kind of sweet roll called a Battenberg, which is a thin layer of marzipan wrapped around a checkerboard cake, and it's ambrosia. I can't stop eating these
I am doing sooooo much cooking too, it's great
So anyway having a fantastic time <3

Another question!
Wildcard torties like Clangen has but in canon
(Wildcard Torties are when Clangen cats essentially have "patches" of a second pattern, usually in a different color, such as having a gray spotted cat with brown tabby patches.)
Hmmm. 6/10, neat in theory but prone to design clutter.
I love Moonpaw designs that are wildcard tortie, I ADORE 2010-era sparklewolves, and I go wild for "frankenstein" characters made of different body parts sewn together! I simply think it's best done with intention, not willy-nilly.
