This has taken hours of work comparing different, yet similar fonts and the book cover titles.
All completely hand drawn. I present my own version of the locked tomb font.

For your own use:
It’s currently only letters right now.
I will update as I work through numbers and symbols.

the literal "being-in-a-body" horror in pyrrha's story drives me up the wall. it's a body she used to love from the outside because she loved the person it belonged to, and now it's become the cage she can't escape. she sees a face she loved in the mirror every morning, but it's still the wrong face. and the body isn't just a prison, it's her only means of interacting with the world, of loving other people. her best friend's hands are the only way she can touch her loved ones. they don't know what her voice sounds like. it was never supposed to be her body, she wasn't even supposed to continue existing. he didn't even know she did. and now his body is hers. but it's not. do you get it.

anyway. my next favourite thing about the locked tomb in general has got to be the way it gets passed around among the people i know the way i used to dish out duplicate pokemon cards in the playground. i have never had a reading experience where the books have such an insatiable aura about them that everyone i know wants to get their hands on a copy. the people hunger for the creepy necromantic lesbians! i have a queue of people lined up to borrow my copy of gideon the ninth! i have become a locked tomb librarian! utterly obsessed with the glee that people have about wanting to read the series, let alone the devotion of the fandom itself
#the locked tomb#tlt#have got to get more active on tumblr tho. waiting for people to finish reading gideon one at a time is. very slow#badly need to talk to people about my current fictional faves

Imagine you’re some little evil woman sitting in Hades’ throne room when Orpheus walks in to make a deal to get Eurydice back, and Hades is like “yeah ok, just don’t look back otherwise she has to stay here then walks out of the room. Almost immediately after hearing the conditions, Orpheus breaks his own neck so that is is physically impossible for him to turn it, and then demands that you gouge out his eyes for good measure. Eurydice then gets really upset because she’s convinced this is a sign that Orpheus hates her and never wants to see her again, and Orpheus is completely convinced that this was a normal and logical thing to do.
You are literally the only person in the universe who recognizes this as an act of love. They both then insult you to your face for thinking this is anything other than very normal (Orpheus), or petty hatred (Eurydice).
You are Ianthe Tridentarius.

everybody in the ninth house is so fucking lonely. ortus has nobody, except for maybe his mother, but she has him more than he has her. almost everyone he knew just.. died one day. and he didn’t. and the one reason he survived, he hates having to do it. and even the guy that forced him into it, who demanded he follow in his footsteps? that guy’s dead. everyone who expected anything of him, or could befriend him, died. and he’s fucking sad about it! he writes sad poetry, he latches on to it and matthias nonius, who is, to him, the epitome of confidence and escapism. he recites it every chance he gets, maybe to inject something like that into his own life. into himself. gideon has nobody, except for maybe harrow and aiglamene, and she is thoroughly convinced that no one has or could *love* her, not really. she theorized that she didn’t catch the deadly disease because everybody avoided her. you know. as a baby. because even when she thinks of her toddler self she believes that she was that unlovable to everyone around her. she would confide in bones that had the smallest chance of being her mother because maybe THAT would be someone that would love her. that wouldn’t fucking hate her guts. harrow *has* people. she has almost everyone in that house. she has adoration, and reverence, and even comfort in crux. but she is 200 dead children. and everyone that loves her is old enough that they are less likely to be genuine peers to her than they are to gasp and collapse into a pile of bones. and through all that adoration and reverence and comfort and ass-kissing, she can’t justify her existence. because how could she ever? her only peer, the one person she could possibly confide in mutually, is her whipping girl because she hates herself and has to direct that somewhere, anywhere.
anyway i’m gonna resurrect pelleamena and priamhark so i can kill them again anyone wanna come

i know we all love the locked tomb because unbridled lesbianism but i think one of my favourite parts is honestly ortus meeting matthias :') like he's such a fanboy and so completely mind-blown by what's happening i find it very sweet. ortus nigenad you will always have a place in my heart
#tlt#the locked tomb#htn#harrow the ninth#ortus nigenad#matthias nonius#i havent read nona yet so i hope nothing happens there that somehow undermines my love for ortus and matthias
