hm. currently thinkin about how every single Secret Spooky Lore Character in deltarune talks in all or at least mostly capital letters

also thinkin about how papyrus, who speaks in all caps, still hasn’t shown up at all

okay alright i know i’ve been whining about papyrus for the past like 10 days but i gotta admit. susie might be my favorite deltarune character now that chapter 2′s come out

i mean

like she’s, objectively perfect

i think toby should have delayed dropping the chapter until june 16 and then made this happen for real

i think it would be really funny if dr chapter 3 had a super dramatic Knight introduction where they just show up and say “what the FUCK”

one of my favorite things about deltarune is how sans really is just like. just a normal dude. in undertale he threatens an 8 yr old but in deltarune the shadiest thing he’s ever done is joke about fucking your mom

yknow, in the undertale endings where he’s alive, papyrus has a WEIRD habit of cozying up to whoever the ruler ends up as, completely regardless of their policies or morals. doesn’t matter who, he almost always gets some kind of official title, even if it’s just made up for him specifically

like afaik the only endings where he doesn’t directly serve the crown in some way are the one where the monsters revolt against Toriel while Undyne is dead, leaving the underground in “uneasy anarchy” (and Papyrus still says “I LOVE STANDING IN FOR THE QUEEN” in that one lmao), and the Undyne Has Depression ending, where he’s too preoccupied with taking care of her to get to know Toriel in the first place

and hell even in true pacifist he tries convincing Asgore to give him a position in the royal guard, gets rejected, and then like five minutes later instates himself as either the official ambassador of monsterkind, or the mascot— only after the ambassador role is offered to Frisk. it’s like he’s just jumping at any opportunity for an important role under the king the very second he finds out it exists

so basically this is all to say mayhaps rouxls kaard is a little more directly a papyrus stand-in than i originally may have realized

no seriously imagine being less than two hours into your first ever undertale playthrough, fighting the very first boss you come across after leaving the tutorial area, and then this happens

i still don't rlly know how i feel about the skelebros-from-deltarune theory but it IS slightly baffling that i'm seeing a resurgence in people saying papyrus can't be the same level of "weird" as sans because papyrus doesn't bleed when killed, now that we know for certain that deltarune monsters do bleed

and its rlly annoying me because while i understand that undertale reallly muddies the waters between "video game bullshit" and "actual in-world logic" i genuinely think this is one of those cases where u have to remember that undertale is, in fact, a fictional story where pacing and tone are both extremely important to effectively deliver its information and themes to the player

because the thing is, regardless of whether it's a neutral run or just full-on geno, papyrus is beheaded. and even then he's still actively talking to you for a few lines afterward, holding his own detached head in his hand until the rest of his body turns to dust. even after his head falls to the ground he gets one last quip in before it dusts too.

so. is it really so difficult to imagine why blood in that scene might possibly be (1) tonally out of place when 90% of the time his last words are "AT LEAST I STILL HAVE MY HEAD" and also (2) honestly just a batshit insane thing to do for literally the second boss of the game

so far the craziest thing about deltarune to me is the fact that when i play undertale i always consistently love all of the characters right, like i know every line but they never get old and i like befriending them so much that i haven't done anything other than true pacifist in nearly ten years

and then i play deltarune and interact with those same characters twice maximum before i start gettin fed up
