Dear 2018, You found me with the trully I am. The understanding that ourself just a human being, a small piece in this universe who needs to survive to live day by day. People says, work hard if you wanna survive! Is that the only way? I don’t know. The one that I know, I used to be busy to build the ideal life and kill the life itself. I don’t wanna do that anymore. I just wanna be a happy soul before I leave the earth. This journey 2018 taught me how to appreciate and love this life: pain or comfort, good or bad, hot or cold, black or white, soft or hard, sweet or bitter, poverty or wealth... ❤️ L I F E ❤️ #bestnine2018 #bestnine2018 #topnine2018 #topnine #bestnine #top9of2018 #top9 #top92018 https://www.instagram.com/p/Br-TkI9A6UC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=qvwypk0q252o

Colin Kaepernick is person of the year. He's #mcm (Man Crush Monday) because he's a unique man who had courage to protest by kneeling national anthem. For me, there was so much more encoded in the GQ photographs, particularly the cover. There is so much beautiful black history and politicization hidden in plain sight. Kaepernick’s Afro shines like a crown of black consciousness serving as a crucial component for framing his unspoken love for black aesthetic affirmation. For all the haters out there until every white person in the US is ready to spend 1 year being treated as if they were black there wouldn't be hate against him or banning GQ magazine. His protest did not infringe upon the rights of others. He did not riot, block traffic, destroy property, or harm anyone. He simply kneeled. The issue that Kaepernik was raising is one that seems worthy of more dialogue, and that is his stated purpose. We get perfunctory wails of outrage when yet another unarmed black person is gunned down by police, institutional racism, but somehow it always seems to fizzle out without stirring any real change. I support Colin’s desire to use what small celebrity he had to express black men killed by police, racism and social injustices in U.S. If you think - he didn’t really bother anyone or stop them from playing the anthem, but simply followed his conscience and made a few people think. Critical thinking is good for people it’s good for us. @kaepernick7 @gq #blacklivesmatter

Part 2. So when people tell me all the ways they want to improve their lives, my advice to them is to travel if you have financial possibilities (if you haven't, don't even think about it) for one simple reason: Travel solves a plethora of self-improvement goals in one fell swoop. Picture this: You’ve booked a flight to Moscow (my hometown) You don’t speak Russian. And, to top it off, you’re going alone. You land in Moscow. Now, you have to navigate signs in a different language, ask people who probably don’t speak your language well for directions (maybe pantomime and point at maps indicating where you want to go), get to your hotel, make friends in the dorm (no one wants to be alone), and get around and sightsee the city during your stay. By the time you leave, you’ve learned how to communicate even when you don’t speak the language, figured out how to navigate an unknown place, learned to turn strangers into friends, learned how to be independent, and solved a slew of problems that came up as you made your way around a foreign country. During one trip, you got better at communication, problem solving, languages, social situations, and improved your confidence in your ability to do new things and handle unexpected situations. Why? Because you had to. You had no other choice. And you didn’t even know you were doing it.#luandangola #southatlanticocean #southafrica #westernafricanocean #angolaocean #luandaangolaocean #beautifulsea #angolanature #angolasea #luandasea #angolanphilosophy (at Ilha De Luanda, Espaço Baia)

It’s clear many of us want to become a better version of ourselves in the new year. We all want to be the person we imagine we could be if given just the right circumstances. We want to find a well paying job in the world of high unemployment. We want to learn more languages. We want to be less awkward in social situations. • We want to eat better. • We want to read more. • We want to work out more. • We want to travel more. • We want to be more active. • We want to be more independent. The list goes on and on!!! So often we go through life without really thinking about where we are heading. One day turns into the next and all those things we desire to do and become seem to pile up while we look for the perfect day to start. Over the last year, I’ve had my ups and downs and have been working hard to make changes. It takes a lot of work to change. Even one or two changes to change your life requires concentrated effort and persistence. But to make a dozen changes? That is biting off more than you can chew. No one has the mental energy or time to do that. That’s why most new year’s resolutions fail. We create a long list of things to accomplish in the new year but, in the end, most of us give up, overwhelmed by all we want to do. (at Ilha De Luanda, Espaço Baia)

If you are wondering where Im @, here are 10 things to know about Luanda: (ps. I have violated 2 of the rules already). 1. Angola’s oil and diamonds are its primary sources of income. The country has even become China’s major oil supplier. 2. Tipping is not standard practice in Angola. If you do leave tips, it should not be more than 10% of your bill – and it does not have to be in cash! (Cigarettes, for instance, are acceptable) 3. Unlike other currencies, Angola’s kwanza can’t be taken outside the country. Attempting to bring it out is illegal. National Banks blocked international currencies in 2016 which means while in Angola nobody can receive or send money overseas. Currently, Angola is in deep financial depression. 4. Slave trade was practiced in the early history of Angola, with such tribes as the Imbangala and the Mbundu as slave traders, and with ports built in Luanda and Benguela. Portuguese put an end to slave trade in 1836, years after Brazil, with which Angola traded slaves, gained independence from Portugal. 5. Semba, one of the most common Angolan musical styles, influenced several other types of music, including the samba of Brazil. Kizomba is very popular as well. 6. The national flag of Angola was inspired by the Soviet Union flag. The gold cogwheel and machete on the Angolan flag were patterned after the hammer and sickle on the flag of Soviet Union. The star the Angolan flag carries is also from the Soviet flag. That's is why I was raised in Russia. 7. Angola has a land area of 1,246,701 square kilometers (481,354 square miles), making it twice as big as Texas and thrice the size of California. (I google that) 8. Angolans normally shake hands when greeting each other – but when introduced to an older person or to someone with a higher position, Angolans typically bow their heads. 9. Photographing government buildings, military sites, and such other structures is illegal in Angola and is penalized. There is fashion police, where I was asked to wear long sleeve t shirt and long skirt when I tried entering governmental office. 10. The name Angola is derived fro (at Ilha De Luanda)
