               ❛  i swear to god if you make me giving you gifts into a big deal i’m going to return this and buy something that i’m going to use instead, so don’t you dare try me  !!  ❜  she walked into her sister’s room almost as if she had owned the place, remembering all of the late night and hidden conversations that the two had shared. for so many years prudence was her rock, her person, and from time to time patricia felt like she had to thank her for that.  ❛  i know that they say money and material things can’t buy happiness, but i’m pretty sure that’s a lie spread by the poor.  ❜  patty took out two boxes of shoes, ones containing a pair of heels and another black sneakers that pj could wear on duty and demon hunts. patty quickly opened the two boxes up, almost as if she was in a rush to see what they contained even if she knew what they were.  ❛  i know demon vanquish is hard on our wardrobe, but i feel like i wear dresses way more than you so i hope you like shoes  !!  ❜

               ❛  mom, can you just cut it out  ??  there’s a reason why i don’t talk about cole or call him my father, i have nothing to do with that man and i want nothing to do with him either  !!  ❜  patty exclaimed as she looked over at her mom, kind of disappointed that this wasn’t going to be a chill night at home like she thought it was going to be. the witch demon would have loved answers about her demonic side and if cole was around he probably could have helped her control her powers, but she didn’t want to be his daughter. she didn’t want to be the daughter of a demon that she has heard so much about. she knew that phoebe once loved the man and still did, which is why she felt bad for her mother, but she was so over everyone treating her like she was a bomb because of who her father was.  ❛  he’s dead, you all made sure of that right  ??  if he’s not then i’ll kill him MYSELF because there’s no more room for evil in my life. i have enough of it inside of me already.  if there’s one thing that i probably inherited from him is that i don’t hesitate to kill.  ❜

                     there was a bit of staring, and a dose of confusion resting on her face, before deciding it was a bit stupid on her part, especially considering the fact they were related. clearing her throat, she tucked an unruly lock behind the ear, before finally replying.   ❛  tam should only be back in a couple of hours, i’m afraid.  ❜  unlike herself, her twin sister actually managed to keep a social life ; a mysterious skill kat hadn’t been able to master for years. she stared at him suspiciously, her hand now resting on the page of her open book, before shaking head with a light smile.    ❛  listen, i’m not saying you can’t wait around until she’s back  ——  but i won’t hold it against you if you don’t.  ❜  a pause, in which she closed her book and gave him another smile.   ❛  i’m not really that fun to hang out with anyway ; we can pretend you tackled the family duty, i can even tell aunt phoebe you were a great laugh and we  ——  dunno, played scrabble, swapped stories, vanquished a stray demon. i can text you when tam gets back and you can just pop back in then.  ❜

                    they all interested him honestly. the next generation had been filled with hyphens and except for his side of the family and henry jr., all of them were whitelighter-witches. clearly some weren’t pacifists like uncle leo, but he still wondered how differently they worked from himself. for example, leo couldn’t fully heal him because of his demon side, but people like aunt paige could because of her witch side. it was something that interested him immensely, but he rarely had any time to explore it and study the whole genealogy thing.  ❛  why are you afraid? i can chill here for a couple of hours, can’t i?  ❜  it wasn’t that patrick didn’t like spending time with kat, but they just never seemed to have as much one on ones as he and tam had.  ❛  then i hope you don’t hold it against me if i do, because i actually want to stay here. ��❜  for the first time that whole day a genuine smile spread across patty’s face as he sat down on the couch, sitting next to the redhead.  ❛  we’re not going to pretend anything, i’m done pretending to do things at this point.  ❜  mostly he was done pretending he was always okay.  ❛  i actually could kick your ass in scrabble if you tell me what book it was that you were reading.  ❜

                      having just put down a pot of brewing potion off the stove in his and wyatt’s flat, chris made a few notes  ——  most of which were to himself, and with a nagging thought he let himself orb to the attic ; to be faced with his cousin suspiciously leaning over the book.  ❛  dude…  ❜  he said, brows knitting together as he stared at him.   ❛  why would i tell them you went to see the book? last i checked you were family.  ❜  a pause, as his eyebrow rose and he took a step forward ; he didn’t know what was it about, but his account of fishy, often illegal doings and always things his mother wouldn’t have approved of, as well as blatant lies was too big for him to ignore the obvious.   ❛  it’s fine, dude. take pics, make notes  ——  i came here for the book too, but i can spare a few ;  i know this book by heart already anyway, so i could help.  ❜  he eyed him then, carrying on only after a beat.   ❛  unless, of course, you don’t want me to know what the fuck are you doing for real either ; which i guess is the case considering, last i checked, you were supposed to be at the movies right about now.  ❜

                    if he would have known that he was going to be interrupted like this he would have made sure it was a bigger family gathering, but at least chris wasn’t the worst person that could have caught him. he could have ran into aunt piper instead if she wasn’t at the movies and sit down through a lecture. ❛ thanks man. i just thought that you know, you just wanted them to know, but i forgot you were the cool witchlighter. ❜ by cool he just meant someone that wouldn’t rat him out. he had quickly flipped the page on cole, on his demonic form, which landed him on the banshee section. pretending to study it he took his notepad and pen out and started writing down the spell. ❛ if you want you can look at it now. i just wanted some information on banshees, i’m pretty sure there’s one in the city again. ❜ after writing down the spell he walked away from the book, looking over at chris as he leaned against one of the small tables. ❛ so, for real, i may not be looking to stop a banshee, but i’m just confused. i was looking on contacting cole, even though i know he’s super vanquished, but didn’t know if i should be looking in his summoning spell or the information we have on the source. and hey! they just think i stepped out to use the bathroom and buy some candy, that buys me ten minutes max before they send someone looking for me. ❜

                  ’ when your aunts and i first received our powers, we didn’t know how to handle them. ‘ phoebe remembered how she had said the spell so many years ago that brought forth her powers and remembered how even prue had to learn how to handle her powers. the mention of the seer also brought forth unwanted memories that phoebe often had nightmares about. ‘ i would rather have ( d i e d ) than let the seer take you, patrick. you are my son and your father’s son, not her’s. ‘ while phoebe may not have ever burned any of her sisters, she did know what it was like to unknowingly harm a sibling and his mother also knew what it was like to throw fire from her time as being queen of the underworld. ‘ i thought that your aunt paige was a demon once, barbas. i hurt her pretty bad and to this day, i still haven’t fully forgiven myself. ‘ however, she would soon focus on consoling her son who was the last part of cole that remained to her. ‘ no one is ( a n g r y ) at you, she’s okay. please do not beat yourself up over this, baby. ‘ 

               ‘ those powers were at most neutral though, right? none of you could have physically hurt someone unless aunt prue moved a knife into someone’s stomach or something, right? ’ patrick knew that it was probably hard for his mom and aunts when they first received their powers. he had heard the stories and they were close to the age that he was now. they didn’t have years to master their abilities, they had days to learn how to control it. he couldn’t even think about something like that. ‘ sometimes i see her though, i think. i have nightmares about her and i wonder what my role really is. ’ he sat down on the couch, moving his legs so that he could rest on top of them, and looked down as he started tangling his fingers together. ‘ you did? ’ patty’s head slowly rose up in order to make eye contact with his mother, wondering how it must have felt like for her to hurt aunt paige. almost knowing exactly what that feeling must have been like. ‘ if you haven’t fully forgiven yourself for mistaken her for barbas though, something he probably did, then how can i forgive myself for this when i knew exactly who she was? ’ in his eyes there was no excuse for what he did, but it seemed like no one was set on punishing him for it except for himself. ‘ i’ll try, but that’s pretty much the only thing i can promise right now. i’ll try not to beat myself up over this. ’

                              ❛   oh  come  on  ,  you’re  making  it  sound  like  i  ONLY  come  around  for  holidays  ,   ❜   he  moved  his  right  arm  to  nudge  the  side  of  her  body  with  his  elbow  ,   acting  like  it  was  completely  normal  for  him  to  just  drop  by  after  having  been  gone  for  SO  LONG  .   at  times  he  only  stood  away  to  make  sure  that  she  was  safe  ,   it  was  bad  enough  being  involved  with  witches  without  being  involved  with  someone  who  was  part  demon  ,   but  he  couldn’t  stay  away  from  her  CHARM  for  too  long  .   ❛   would  you  believe  me  if  i  said  i  just  wanted  to  see  my  favorite  PRE  DOCTOR    ??   ❜

& prudence.

                 this conversation was bound to happen. prudence had sensed something ambiguous with her mother’s words when she had mentioned patrick; suspicion arising from her deep brown eyes. but suspecting her brother of allegedly killing her father & hearing him admit it face-to-face were far different. & they brought out fervent emotions from the young girl. her fists clenched with every word her older brother uttered. but, she was never one to judge patrick. she was always the one who understood him, despite of all that he’s done. she was his person. & she wasn’t going to turn her back on him just because of an old mistake. an exasperated sigh escaped her lips. her eyes firmly settled on the face of her older brother. ❝ he’s fine. dad’s fine. it’s in the past. plus it was the old patrick with the ugly haircut & the annoying smug face who did it so —-it’s done. ❞ she rolls her eyes in amusement. ❝ you actually think you’re strong enough to expose me. haha. that’s funny.❞ her rapid steps came to a halt, she didn’t need to hear anymore of it. ❝ enough of it pat. it’s done & it’s no longer you. let’s go catch this—–—-—- whatever it is & get this thing over with. ❞

               while he loved his family, at least his sisters and his mother, sometimes patrick thought karma threw him their way on purpose. he had been feeling guilt for so many years and at first it was only phoebe though could feel it, but now prudence could too and it just wasn’t easy. thankfully he didn’t have to hide much from her, she was his person after all, but it was still hard. that was why his jaw had tightened after telling her what he tried to do to coop, to her father. guilt washed over his body, but he quickly masked it. patty had become an expert at hiding his emotions now. he focused on the demon that they were after, that way he could feel anger instead of guilt, even if it was still there. he almost felt bad for pj because she had to deal with all of his twisted emotions and messed up feelings. ❝ okay you know what, old patrick didn’t have an ugly haircut !! my hair was just going through a phase like i was. ❞ he let out a rather loud sigh of relief once he realized that his sister wasn’t going to hold this against him. ❝ i can expose myself which will expose you. your partner is smarter than you give them credit for. ❞ for the first time in what felt like the whole walk, patty finally looked over at prudence. ❝ anyone ever tell you that you can get quite obsessive sometimes ?? ❞ he was determined to catch this thing though, he was set on doing at least some good that day. walking a bit faster than before, pat straightened out his leather jacket and became even more aware of his surroundings.

“ c’mon, “ tristan protested weakly, though he should have expected that sort of reply from him. “ i just like, need to know if it’s technically breaking entering if i don’t actually break or enter, ya know? “ the boy chuckled, ignoring the pizza momentarily to try to further discuss his HORRIBLE plan to prank his boss ; it also led to possible TECHNICAL vandalism, so he was right to not want to go along with tristan’s plan. “ i’m not going to rat you out to the police ! i’m not going to do it if you think i’ll get caught ! but if you d o n ‘t think i’ll get caught, i’m totally gonna do it. “ FINALLY, tristan leaned forward, grabbing a piece of pizza for himself. “ no, no. that’s never gonna happen. i’m here, i’m eating pizza, i’ll stop thinking about illegal things for two seconds. but seriously, i just want some ADVICE. “

“ i’ll answer your questions because i THINK it’s just your curiosity or for a paper or something, but i swear to god if the cops start questioning me i’m only covering my ass. ” he was already giving in though, was there any real harm in just telling tristan what he wanted to know? “ technically if you don’t break or enter it’s not breaking and entering. let’s say you have a key, open the door, and just throw something inside or get someone else to do it, but depending on what it is you can still be charged with SOMETHING. ” he took a bite out of the pizza, relaxing in the couch as he thought this over. was helping tris really that smart at this point? patrick was becoming an accomplice, but no one had to know that in the long run. “ i’ll let you know if i THINK you’ll get caught or not and give you ADVICE, but that’s it. ”

                    “yeah, exactly!” aiden liked little brain teasers, honestly. kept the cogs turning and kept him on his toes. odd question or not, it was an interesting topic and one that he could probably make an argument essay about. – he won’t, but he COULD. “oh! cool, so you’re taking criminology alongside it. cool. i mean, i guess some people are BORN evil. there’s psychopaths who have never known anything other than than not hearing a conscience and can freely murder and steal at will without feeling any kind of remorse for it. but that’s getting more into the psychology about it. – it all depends on the person, i guess? eh, i don’t know.” laughing under his breath, he twirled his pencil between his fingers as he grinned up at the other. damn tall people. “– hopefully i’ve given you something to work with for your paper.”

                            a new PERSPECTIVE on the topic was always welcomed and that was the main reason why patrick had asked aiden in the first place. he never liked to be the one to bring topics up, to call attention onto himself, but it was useful in this case. it was a way to make sure that he didn’t remain close minded about the whole thing, about himself. “yeah... criminology is definitely a big part in this. are they though? i mean don’t some people BECOME psychopaths in their lives? like something happens to them in their childhood, no matter how young they are, that influences them to become evil in that way? you’re right though. this isn’t black and white at all, it’s unique when it comes down to every person.” he lowered his head slightly to make sure that he was getting a good look at the other, smiling after chewing on his bottom lip for a couple of seconds. patty always did that when he was thinking. “you have... you’ve giving me a whole new way to look at it because i wasn’t even thinking about psychopaths. thank you.”

               ❛  i just can’t, okay, i just can’t  !! ❜  patrick couldn’t even look his own mother in the eye for longer than five seconds. he was moving around the room like a maniac, his hands were shaking and he was sweating. he had almost hurt one of his sisters, one of his own blood, while training. after all of those years he still couldn’t get a complete handle on his emotions, which meant he couldn’t get a complete handle on his powers.  ❛  you should have bound my powers when you had the chance, or just let the seer TAKE me.  ❜  he could have sworn that he was having something close to a panic or anxiety attack, so he decided to sit down on the arm of the couch and just breathe.  ❛  i almost burned her mom, do you know what it’s like to almost burn your sibling  ??  my body sensed that i was in danger, even though it was just training, and it reacted.  ❜

              she tried — — yes, she tried to become a BETTER person ; to use her DEADLY POWERS for the greater good. she made some MISTAKES along the way but she genuinely thought that the elders gave up on their unexplainable vendetta. they wanted to put her back in her CAGE like a dangerous animal ; they saw nothing but a MONSTER in her.  ❛ i know what it looks like but guess what ? i’m innocent — i’m not the DEMON you’re looking for. ❜ it was easy to blame her ; she was the perfect SCAPEGOAT ; hated by both the heavens and the underworld.  ❛ someone else deceived you — don’t put the blame on me. ❜ a pause ; a long sigh. ❛ i hunt DEMONS ; i don’t team up with them unless we have common goals.  ❜ in her case, it would be to protect as many INNOCENTS as possible ; after her failed attempt of suicide, she promised herself that she’d never let anyone else suffer because of the magical community.

               it wouldn’t have been the first time that his powers BACKFIRED on him somehow, that he couldn’t do a wiccan ritual correct because his DEMONIC side was unbalancing his powers. he had been in the same area for almost an hour, trying to find an evil that his family was hunting. he was forced to scry for it and apparently it was in the same alley that he was, but for all he knew the crystal could have just landed on HIMSELF. with the map and crystal in his bag now, he was just looking at the blonde. for once he could actually SYMPATHIZE with another demon, another evil or half evil out there. ❛ i get it, OKAY ? i get everyone thinking that you’re evil just because you have some form of evil inside of you, so i’m not going to attack you. ❜ he was more focused on the person that tried to deceive him, the DEMON that was willing to throw her under the bus like that. no one fools a halliwell and gets away with it. ❛ then how about we team up together ?? someone must have a target on your head if i was brought HERE, but we could turn this into a good thing. we could catch whoever this bastard is TOGETHER. ❜ he was technically still a demon, but like she said they had common GOALS and he was trying to be good.

                              what was most important to him was family.   it didn’t matter if he was truly evlil deep down inside or truly good,   but if he had his family supporting him then somehow everything was OKAY.   maybe that was why he was so protective of his sisters,   so hellbent on making sure that no one hurt them.  especially no one that was like himself.   ❝   actually,  i don’t want to wait.   by now you know how impatient i am and if they’re not worth it,   then i’ll just scare them away faster   !!   unless you want the fuckboys to waste your time for so long   ??   i could always just turn them into pigs if you want.   i finally found that potion in the book.   ❞   a wicked smile formed on his face as he thought about turning one of penny’s dates,   one that didn’t deserve her,   into an actual pig.
