hii! i really like how clean and well designed your characters are, there's so much going on in the lines and movement. they're always a great joy to look at! do you have any favorite artists that you look up to?

Hii thank you so much for your kind words!! I adore so many artists so this was really hard to narrow down… but these are my personal favorites! (Ended up being a kinda lengthy post despite my efforts to keep things brief… so it’s under the cut)

Haruko Ichikawa

Been obsessed with her work since I was in fourth grade. Her compositions are so striking with the stark contrasts of black and white and minimal screen tone usage. There’s always a clear line of motion and focal points, I can really feel the movement in the panels. Although I think she’s best known for her black and white works, the HnK manga/magazine covers hold a special place in my heart.

Mary Blair

She’s been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I had an Alice in Wonderland picture book with her art and I used to read it all the time. Anyways I absolutely adore her use of bold shapes and silhouettes in her work. And her backgrounds OUGH!!! She’s so skilled at portraying such a grand senses of scale. I can never get bored looking at her work, there’s always so much energy in her character posing.

Franchesco Vaccari

I like franchescovacc’s art for most of the same reasons I like Mary Blair’s. The sort of chalk-like textured brush he uses really works well with how shaped his subjects are. I also find the organic matter are quite delicately drawn too! There’s a lot of variation in each of his pieces I find myself getting lost in them for a long time…

Myskodraws

Probably one of my favorite artists when it comes to portraits. He’s really amazing at capturing very subtle details in skin and facial features that a lot of people tend to overlook. Looking at his art made me lock in and start drawing faces properly (well… better than I used to at least). Also love the moody/somber atmospheres he tends to incorporate in a lot of his works… he’s goated

Masaaki Yuasa

My go-to guy when it comes to fluidity and motion! One thing I really liked about his concept art is how loose it is, yet there’s still a strong sense of structure in all the sketchiness. Whenever I feel my stuff looks too stiff, I like to look through his artbook and just scribble a bunch. He also created Kaiba which is my favorite anime of all time… so I recommend you check it out too hehe

Here’s some other artists I also really like!! I’m still leaving out a bunch still but I want to at least mention some of them at least…
