After the heavy loss of her brother Mary seeked comfort like she never had before. Only after she found her father's cryptic notes did Mary believe his intentions were to lead out into the fields as the war was only beginning to worsen by this time. Her father was a doctor after all and now with the town's settlement on handing the children over, his purpose to protect his fleeting street was no longer needed as it was out there. But his intent was not as clear as it seemed. No, he had a much bigger plan, one that was born through desperation more then anything else. He was to burn the train documents with a few others. Community was truly all the man had known, he'd seen these very children grow and he knew each family like the back of his hand but above it all he felt he owed it to his son to do what was right.

He was hanged outside of the tailor Mary worked at park time as a bespoke. She didn't know. No goodbyes were spoken the night before. It's hard to describe what she felt as she saw him.

Mary refuses to believe she had a brother when on Joy but on the odd occasion she will speak of her distant father that "lives" in Scotland;

"I love him of course. I would send a card once in a while but you know, when I need him he'll be there."
