Something something about how Fields expected Burt to sever as some sort of penance, for being a 'scoundrel' when he was younger. Burt is definitely going to Hell and Fields is definitely going to Heaven, no question about that. The innie goes to Heaven whilst the 'outie burns', says Burt while backlit by a flame. Burt doing all the sacrifice and work in the relationship to make his husband feel loved, while Fields doesn't give him any of the same care in return.

And then something something about how Burt and Irving's innies were banished to Hell to pay for the sins of their outies, but then they found each other. 'This could be our secret place', an office room full of plants Burt found, a green oasis in the midst of their tortuous existence. Their Garden of Eden. But love isn't allowed to thrive there, and Burt is retired. 'If he's gone, and I'm gone, then somehow we can be together'. Irving rejecting his gods and making the ultimate sacrifice in the hope he can see Burt again; Hell is a small price to pay, for that.

While I'm very disappointed Burt didn't immediately fall into Irving's arms and is in fact maybe evil, I feel much better because of the possibility of a new gay pairing which I'm gonna delude myself is definitely happening. I meannn why else would they have Devon casually drop that she's into women right before the mad brain scientist Mark has living in his basement bursts out and reveals herself?? They're def setting us up for lesbian bonding thru corporate espionage, I can tell

Thoughts on Birving before tomorrow's episode:

'Bury your gays' is a trope I know we all hate, it's constantly upsetting when gay couples on TV are sabotaged by random stabbings/illness/other misfortune rather than just ending up happily ever after.

But WHAT IF the Severance writers are aware of this trope and they've decided to subvert things. 'Bury your gays'. Burt and Irving as we know them are dead, but somehow they still end up together.

Or at least I'm hoping for some scenario where Burt and Fields have only been married a few years and they're happy and comfortable but it's not the same sort of chemistry as Burt and Irving have? Like what if?? What if that cheeky grin of Christopher Walken's in his most recent interview is hinting at something???

I mean think of that moment in ep 1, where Irving hopes that by leaving the severed floor that 'somehow' he and Burt can be together.

Thinking a lot about how reviewers who've seen all 10 episodes of the second season of Severance have said either episode 7 or 10 is the best, which corresponds to Defiant Jazz and The We We Are from the first season. And how we're only on EPISODE FIVE, FIVE OF THE SECOND SEASON and the plot is already progressing IMPRESSIVELY fast and everything is cuckoo bananas; Irving is dead but he's also going to have a ham dinner with Burt and his husband, Mark's reintegrating and remembers seeing Gemma on the severed floor, Helena was pretending to be Helly and was revealed as a mole... what the hell else do these people have cooking??

Wondering what Mrs. Henderson must have been thinking on first meeting Aziraphale.

Since Aziraphale:

pauses significantly before referring to Crowley as 'his good friend'

proceeds to pull his handkerchief out of his pocket and wave it around in the most adorably gay way imaginable ('I'm no stranger to the art of prestidigitation!')

has Crowley act as his 'trusted stooge and confidant' as part of his magic show

There's really only one conclusion you can come to about that.

But then it occurred to me; they've probably been causing this misunderstanding for the whole of human history.

For centuries they've been meeting up clandestinely in male form in public places, and when people correctly make the assumption that they're friends since they're acting so chummy, Aziraphale then proceeds to deny it very hotly (i.e. at the Globe, 'oh he's not my friend, we've never met before, we don't know each other'), to the extent that everyone around them probably thinks 'Ah, they're fucking'.
