i do get that sometimes maturity means stepping up and doing things you don't want to do or becoming things you weren't already, but so many stories conceptualize characters having seemingly unfitting roles of great magnitude foisted upon them for arbitrary reasons & not wanting to take those roles as a childish mindset that they must outgrow by the end of the story, and i never agree. why is it this person's responsibility to be a ruler of their people literally just because they were born into the family, even though they are not interested in the role in the slightest, don't seem to have the disposition, and want to be i don't know a world renowned entomologist instead. why don't you guys go pick someone to be king who doesn't abhor the idea of being king, and actually has experience leading people / feels prepared to handle that responsibility. maybe YOU need to grow up
