HERE IT IS IN ALL OF ITS GLORRYYYYY-
I feel like I could have done better but oh well
{ BEHOLD THIS WEIRD SILLY """LIST""" OF 'WHAT-IFS ' I WROTE AT 2 AM - PLEASE READ THE TAGS BEFORE MOVING FORWARD - }
^^^ You have been warned btw lmao, this definitely shifts away from canon to ooc a bit, so don't be too surprised by the weirdness here y'all. Either way, if ya don't like, don't read! This was just a fun experiment I did at the cost of my sleep hours on a random tuesday HAHAA! Couldn't stop thinking about these losers and then had the brilliant idea of "hm, how could I make it worse?".
I somehow made it worse.
So without further ado, here it is:
----------------------------------------------------
I like to think how, if Sabre ever decided to follow along with the illusion after the new "world" has been created (begrudgingly though, because he'd realise if he did anything, Illusion Steve would always know and could do something to him or his friends, just to rub salt on the wound) he'd probably have a random house just somewhere (most likely inside a forest) to live in. He doesn't actually agree with Illusion Steve's plan obviously, but until he figures out a way to erase the infection, breaking the illusion would only endanger everyone (obviously). So he decides the best course of action here is to stay on the down-low for the time being until he pieces together how and why did it happen.
I think Illusion Steve would see (on the outside, cuz he can't read his mind) Sabre agreeing with letting him "take the lead" and at first think "wow, he actually Agreed! just as I expected of course-" *cough cough*, but after a full day passes and nothing else has happened (except for the random Demon Steve that spawns in his world) he gets suspicious and then might think "hm. things are too peaceful with this man still around. he's planning something, isn't he?" and would either A: still send Alex to destroy him and have the canon route happen instead, or B: send someone (most likely still Alex) to spy on him to make sure he doesn't ACTUALLY try anything. Or visit him occasionally unannounced I guess.
It would be Real Funny if Illusion Steve, eventually learning about the "outside world" (where Sabre comes from) after he gathered many of Galaxy Steve's memories, he'd instead now always be the one to keep an eye on Sabre to gain more information from him about it, while the Illusion Town is being looked after by his henchmen (while Alex and the Guardian are doing their own thing, blissfully unaware of what's truly happening). And ironically he'd only find Sabre following his own little routine, kind of relaxing (???) the whole time by playing music or doing his own work a lot (where is the sound coming from?? there's no jukebox playing, and the music always seems to follow - or come out??? - from Sabre instead.. he always looks busy but doesn't do much but just stand in place and stare at random walls..), which is strange considering someone like Sabre wouldn't Ever Truly Agree with this for the Steves, it's just simply not in his nature to give up like this! (he doesn't agree obviously, but he can't risk it yet).
Then it would be funny for Sabre to accidentally "slip up" and switch things to VR Mode, just cuz he got bored one day and wanted to try it out after so long. Illusion Steve sees this and is IMMEDIATELY alarmed by it. It greatly dissapointed him at first when he saw Sabre was gone (he logged off from the server), but then when Sabre logged back on, he was quickly caught off guard by his "new form"...
Do you know how disturbing it is (for a non-player) to see someone moving in ways you can't fully understand/comprehend? To see floating arms no longer attached to their body, but still act like they are, and also move in ways you've never seen a pair of arms could. For the first thing this person decides to do is to go out of their home and "pet" a random chicken just because they can? And for the chicken to be perfectly fine right after experiencing that??! Oh my gosh, he is now hugging the chicken. Why does the chicken seem so content-
...
...
...Does it feel *that* comforting, I wonder? Does *he* feel that... soft...?
...Then maybe I underestimated him in t-that sense...///

Aaaanyway, this would definitely raise many alarms for Illusion Steve (lol), but he wouldn't immediately act just yet. I think he'd rather watch for a bit, just to figure out why Sabre is like this and if he could learn a thing or two as to how he's able to do it. And you know what he finds out...?
... Nothing! A complete waste of time sitting and watching, hoping he'd do something, anything that would make sense! But noooo-
It would also be REAL FUNNY if Illusion Steve the whole time, because it was this easy for him to take control over EVERYTHING, was paranoid something could go wrong at any moment. Like in canon, always had a feeling that something was wrong but didn't know what. He'd act like he had everything under control, which he did, but internally he'd be suffering (mostly because of the way Galaxy Steve created him so his mind was always locked down to fufill his whishes alone, making it so Illusion Steve was barely able to think for himself and about his own wants and desires). This only gets amplified since he is the only person (is what Illusion Steve thinks) to have witnessed Sabre in VR mode (he doesn't know that's what it's called or what it means obviously, but actually thinks this 'new form' could be another clue to figuring who or what Sabre actually is) and he would mess up (in his own mind) even more trying to find answers for it.
... Still, seeing how things have been going so smoothly, and how all have been in Illusion Steve's favour all things considered, he'd finally decide to pay one last visit to Sabre (this time he finally shows himself), just to chat for a little bit... Then soon for him to teleport themselves in The Illusion Town, where he would absorb Galaxy Steve. He'd then try and swap places with Sabre so he could 'take over' his so-called 'account', the very key to figuring out all of this. Yes... He'd trap Sabre inside said town also, of course, by using the Illusion Tree, considering he'd have all his powers after the swap. He wouldn't want him trying to disillusion anyone, not until Illu- Reality Steve figures out the Truth on how to leave this 'Game', and then figure out, if he succeeds, on what to do next...
... Obviously this was his plan the whole time (only he knows about it lol, plus this was actually planned last minute), but before this happens, Sabre would open the door and greet him instead! He'd welcome him into his home, treat him like a simple guest, like an equal, like a normal person and not the god he is now (in reality, a pathetic servant to some madman, just as stuck as every person would be in his case, just as lost and confused, just as trapped and helpess, always just trying to-), and would strike friendly conversation with him the whole time. The entire time he hadn't been passive aggressive OR irrational, but actually respectul and sweet (even a little flirty at times 'by accident' lol), which definitely caught Illusion Steve off-guard, but not once complained about it.. He would always quickly follow along (he's just pretending, for sureee), thinking it's just Sabre tricking him (yuppp definitelyyyy) and so he must resist his words and not let his actions affect him. He needed to act like, yes, this was all just a 'casual visit' on Illusion Steve's part. All that Sabre was doing to him was simply trying to lull him into a new sense of safety, better said. He can't loose track now. Not now. Despide Sabre's new, much stranger form, his words are still just as effective, like always. Two can play at that game! Soon, you'll slip up, and when you do...
One of them does slip up (without realising they already have from the start) and looses said game. Funnily enough, Illusion Steve is the loser in this case (lmao). His plan still hadn't been put into action for whatever reason (even after the whole day has passed, all spent talking about-), and so he thinks it's fine, he could delay it just a little longer if he needs to... he's still not done planning out every detail just yet anyway. He still hasn't decided yet whether Alex and the Guardian should watch them (since they were the two originally closest to Sabre), whether they should also have their memories back, so they could understand the bigger picture, just like him. They'd be just as trapped inside the Illusion Town anyway, so they won't be able to try anything until he comes back. Whether...
In the meantime, Sabre is relieved to have it FINALLY figured out. Before Illusion Steve came... (put intended, since Sabre would have a dirty mind by now, like in this very moment. This is much more tame than what usually happens though, because spending so much time alone with no one to talk to, and having little to do but to work and then 'relax' afterwards, gets pretty fffuu- FRICKING boring after a while. AND it has lead his mind to wander even more and think about certain "things" aswell, and not just dirty jokes occasionally, much to his embarrassement. This never fails to catch him off-guard of course lol)...
...uhhhh, to visit him....*ahem*... he'd been able to piece together how the infection happened (this had already been explained in this post).
If his theory is correct, then that means... all he needs to do is wait for the virus to physically manifest itself and pierce through this (fake) fabric of reality. Easy, right? Only then could he actually trap it and hopefully be able to create an Anti-Virus by separating and using some of its code to convert it so it's strong enough to fight it back. Since the virus would waste a lot of energy (and power) to brute-force itself into entering this world, it won't take long for it to try and regain it all back by infecting anyone nearby. Which means...
...He needs to let Illusion Steve know this would (inevitably) happen, and should keep everyone safe in one place to ensure no one gets infecte by it (or have them be safely placed behind a strong firewall to keep them protected at all times). It would also be very helpful if he were to help him trap it by locating it and bringing Sabre to it (or it to Sabre, if he is able to build a machine for it in time beforehand).
...Would he believe him if he explained this to him? Or at the very least listen?

The worst characters are the ones were you only get like three pieces of lore about them but the lore is so fascinating and hits your brain at just the right angle to have you behaving like a feral dog in front of your conspiracy theory cork board

Quick question related to my own fun about these TSS characters: Would it bother you guys if I posted things that are slightly suggestive? Never anything illegal obviously, but I recently wrote something that has slight dirty language involved and refers to certain "Thoughts", but not by a lot. (like only one joke that's supposed to call out something one of the characters has been experiencing, which IS also suggestive in its own obvious way, mainly the cause of this being from boredom and isolation, although nothing actually serious).

The music mix is corny I KNOWWW but it honestly reminds me of the "canon" reboot of the Steve Saga and the nostalgia that it brings you rewatching it years later. It's such a specific vibe that very much reminds me of the pandemic aswell (because it was during that time that I discovered it AND when my hyperfixation on The Steve Saga was at its peak) sooooo YEAH!
I really need to get back to drawing again
Alright this'll be my first ever music recommendation that my Future Progress AU relates to and I SWEAR IT'S GOOD, because it is (to me at least) veeeery Illusion/Reality Steve and Sabre coded.
To anyone who might wanna give it a listen, I'll leave the link to the music mix and please do tell how you feel about it to me! Ironically the channel that created the mix is called "music reality." (pretty fitting I'd say)!
It is in no way, shape or form actually related to The Steve Saga obviously lol, but it certainly reminded me of it when I first discovered it. You can thank that one Among Us animation meme for that! The music artist himself btw is named "plenka" If y'all ever wanna check more of his music out. It's pretty neat!!!
And never forget: Have fun! <3
