I've been really low on content lately. So.. here are some photos of the figures I got my husband for his birthday today.
The cutest Perona and Funko Luffy in Gear 5. Perona goes perfectly with the Usopp figure that started my collecting.

Oh, how I love your analysis this theory about D, the checkered fate and all the complex connections and interweaving of the destinies of Law, Cora and Doffy. And also everyone who deals with the carriers the will of D. I have long wanted to put these thoughts into a some kind of post by myself, but I could not find the strength for it.
In fact I've had this so similar ideas in my head for a long time too, that:
- Rocinante, from the very beginning (when he learned the secret of Law's real name) guessed that he would have to sacrifice himself if he want to save one of D's.
- This sacrifice (self-sacrifice) was necessary for awakening will of D. I have a theory that this is important. D for some reasons and as some kind of deity, requires a sacrifice. Here I again recall the theory about the some similarity of the fates of Roci and Shanks: both are Celestial Dragons, both know a lot about the secrets of the world order and obviously - mystery the will of D, both refused (each for their own reason) to share the privileges of their origin (although Roci did not do so voluntarily because was a child), both sacrificed themselves to save one of D - made their "contribution to the future of the world". Only Shanks got off with little bloodshed, and Cora gave his life completely. I won't say anything about each of them having an evil brother.
- Law slowly put all this puzzle together and it could not help but affect his worldview and plans for the future (at what point did he decide to change his mind and set out to investigate the mystery of D, to his misfortune). It can also be assumed that will of D can somehow eliminates stronger bearers of this initial as rivals, but these are just thoughts that I cannot yet clearly formulate.
- Well.. the fact that Sengoku is of course privy to all these mysteries, and it was no accident that he picked up Roci on that ill-fated island. I think Homing's family was generally carefully watched and it couldn't be otherwise. The fact that Doffy was promptly taken into bad company and started to be used for their own purposes also doesn't look like a coincidence. Both brothers were not left without a kind of supervision. Although they ended up on different sides of the barricades (also - was that a coincidence?).
In fact it seems to me that a lot of this comes down to the mystery of the events that took place on God Valley. The time frame just matches (both Shanks and Roci were about a year old at that time). I can't shake the feeling that the split in Homing's worldview could have happened around this time. And since we know that the prototype of his character (Dresking) was initially on friendly terms with Nefertari Cobra, according to Oda's early drafts, I think Donquixote Homing could have passed on to his younger son some of his ideas for searching for people with the initial D (so that they would raise a storm and finally change this world). Given that his eldest son only accepted the second part of the idea - about the destruction of the world plus concerns about the bearers of the will of D.
It's not yet clear where all this is leading. Sorry I formulated all these thoughts very confusedly, but I can't do it any other way. Thank you for pushing me to at least somehow formulate all this. The mystery of D continues to intrigue me, including from the standpoint of revealing the true motives of Rocinante's actions and the significance of his sacrifice in Law's fate.
Okay, we gotta look at the Will of D.
Rosi tells Law that the Ds are the natural enemies of the gods, the gods being the Celestial Dragons.
Tumblr media
He also calls the Ds "fateful people" (in the translation, anyway)
Tumblr media
and 6 months down the road after this Cora states (to the stars, the moon, the sky—but the sleeping Law doesn't hear, I think) that
Tumblr media
he doesn't care about the Will of D anymore (above), implying that he
once did, that it was pivotal in his decision to take Law. After all, he absconds with Law directly after Law and he have had the discussion about Law being a D, which was directly after Law revealing that information.
Of course he grew to love Law, and also saw there was hope even before the revelation, but discovering that Law was a D definitely fuelled him to act (acknowledged by Law later). (Maybe he moved quicker than he otherwise would have. Maybe he wouldn't have gone in search of the doctors if Law hadn't been a D? Initially? What do you think?).
Doflamingo reminds us that
Tumblr media
Rosinante / Cora definitely wanted to get a message to the navy about Doflamingo's plans. He'd spent all of his time with the Donquixote family gathering the information and
Tumblr media
aiming to stop Doffy's rampage, and in the same chapter as the frame directly above, Cora says that he, Vergo, and the other three officers are the ones who have knowledge of the extent of Doflamingo's evil (the manga's word), mindset and plans.
When Law and Luffy go to fight Doflamingo, Doflamingo states
Tumblr media
that he is a Celestial Dragon by birth, and that birth gives him the most unique of powers (and privilege) and that these cannot be countered and should not be contested (he seems too smart to think that he has conqueror's haki, etc, by dint of birth, tho). Bellamy and Luffy are both shocked by the Tenryubito reveal, by the way.
In the second frame (below) Doflamingo outlines his plan, one which was not made yesterday. Destruction has been an almost lifelong ambition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Returning to this frame above, Cora stresses that Law can't turn into a monster like Cora's brother, because he truly knows how monstrous that can be, but also if Law remains he might be endangered if Doflamingo finds out he bears the D name.
In addition, by running away Law's life would of course be preserved from immediate threat, but he'd could grow strong enough to fulfil the destiny of a bearer of the Will of D. (according to Cora)—which is to bring about a storm and be the natural enemy of the gods (Celestial Dragons), and to fuel a different kind of destruction.
Of course, at this point, the reader knows that Doflamingo and Cora are (ex) Celestial Dragons, but Law in the flashback has another 13 years to wait. Cora knows though.
Back in (or forward to) Dressrosa, Doflamingo reacts to the fact that Law is a D.
Tumblr media
Above is Doflamingo fighting Law after Law reveals he's a D, and Doflamingo bringing up, unbidden, the "claptrap" of Law (a D) being an enemy of a Dragon (Doflamingo). Probably in response to Law previously having said he'd only just learnt Doflamingo was a Celestial Dragon and then asking him what he thought of Luffy being a D (frames below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After fierce and continuing battle, Doflamingo answers more defensively (or aggressively) than perhaps the situation calls for if he thought Law had no knowledge of Celestial Dragons (but Law is asking about the D, so that implies he has some knowledge).
Tumblr media
By exposing his knowledge of the superstition is Doflamingo also showing his worry of it? This increases when Law reveals that he is also a D.
It doesn't seem that it was an awareness of supposed fate that brought Law to Dressrosa, considering he didn't know about Cora or Doflamingo's status. Doflamingo being unaware of Law's secret initial too, until this very day, would not have wondered about fate in Law's case until now, but might have done so in Luffy's.
However, it seems that Doflamingo is wary that the warning may be true, and surely Law would think the same and reflect on these words from Cora (below):
Tumblr media
where he tells Law that the Ds' aim is to destroy the world but in an entirely different way than that intended by Doflamingo (Law's breaking of the gears in Punk Hazard). And surely this would've been a catalyst even without knowledge of Doflamingo's status (which it was), and Law acknowledges this:
Tumblr media
by stating as such (frame above) where he responds to Doflamingo's goading that Law thought he could take him down just because of a name (and that he was destined to take him down).
Even though Law's goal is personal it also fulfils Rosi's goal, which is/was to stop Doflamingo. And it makes me wonder that maybe Sengoku should've spoken to Law a little longer, because it seems that Law's aware that Cora didn't grow attached to him merely because of "having a measly name".
But he was living what he perceived to be a "D." life. Or what he thought someone bearing the will of D might live. I like the anime translation on this one.
Tumblr media
Sengoku avoids answering questions about the meaning behind the initial D, but states that Rosi didn't know the meaning. But this also means that Sengoku didn't tell Rosi. So, is there a line here where Cora might've thought his death was inevitable once he decided to rescue Law if he hadn't been disabused of the notion with the facts? (although, an enemy doesn't always mean death, but destruction means destruction).
And, furthermore, was there a subconscious desire to preserve Law's life so that he'd succeed, or attempt, to counter Doflamingo or the type of power he represented? Even though he states that Law is free, and thinks and hopes that he'll walk away and live freely, maybe being a D meant there was still hope for Dressrosa. Even into the future.
And, last thought, Law knowing that the D's are thought of as the natural enemies of the gods, and finding out that Cora was a celestial–
Does Law's
"shoving Lami into a closet in a hospital destined to be burnt to the ground" heart, his
"leading Vergo to Cora and confirming Cora's betrayal to the Donquixote Pirates (and the subsequent beating!)" heart, and his
"Cora took a few dozen bullets for me" heart (Barrel Pirates and from Doflamingo),
then feel that maybe the Ds are indeed the natural enemies of the gods?
(as an aside, I don't think he does. But the angst! and with Donqixote's manipulation, I'm sure it crossed his mind. Sengoku—I assigned Vergo to a navy group in that general area—calls Rosinante's death a sacrifice that kept Law alive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second aside (heh), I wonder if Sengoku told the navy that Law has the initial D. He must've done, right? It'd be his duty. They wanted Luffy's initial kept off his Wano Arc Bounty poster.
Tumblr media
Guess they didn't need to let folk know that Law was a D as well.
And maybe if those in the know (Silvers Rayleigh, Sengoku) were a little more transparent, kids and fallen celestials wouldn't have to wander the world setting off explosions to see if flying pieces of shrapnel affected the air currents in islands a few oceans across. Nico Robin wants to find her own path. I reckon Law'd be happy to have some knowledge.
Oh, and Killer and Kid are all for defying their fates even when the odds are bad, and Hawkins committed to it (his fate)—Bellamy (like Hawkins) remained tied-up in a bad choice (or did), but Hawkins had less choice, I think.
And so I don't believe that Law is necessarily a believer in fate, especially when you don't know what that fate is meant to be, and when people like Doflamingo believe they own the will and fate of others (including Law).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anime only additions.
Is the story that ultimately that no-one can beat fate, for good and bad, or that everyone has a chance to subvert and rise above it? Or some pathway in between?
So long, sorry. It needs a good edit. But I'm working some of these ideas into a fic.
Like, what if Sengoku took in Rosi because he was a Celestial Dragon and it was his duty (there are lots of things to counter, expand upon with that one, but initially, it could be a thing)?

Hey soooo!!
I have read all your analysis so far and i really like it! You noticed details that a lot of fans have never did it before!
But something that caught my attention is the
Donquixotes' stamina and how hard it is to defeat a celestial dragon (as you mentioned remembering Law and Luffy's effort to defeat Doffy)
Taking this into consideration, do you think we can have Rosinante back in the anime? He might have survived? Revived? Idk?
I might be dreaming too big being a fan of this (BIG) little guy. But reading your point and reading the manga again... I mean, why not? I don't buy this talk that Corazon's return would ruin Law's story or writing.
Maybe I'd be a little worried about how their reunion would be written (although that's another matter!)
So, What do you think?
Heeey! Well..
First of all thank you for you reading my analysis 💕 It really warmed my heart at this cold spring.
Yes, and I won't hide, that I am one of the Cora fans who are really looking forward to Rocinante's return to the plot. I recently re-watched the anime and once again noticed that the Celestial Dragons are incredibly resilient and tenacious. And I had a feeling that Doffy could have shot specifically so as not to hit his brother's vital organs.
And from here we can already build various theories about how exactly Cora escaped from Minion Island.
Whether he was picked up and nursed back to health by the revolutionaries, or transported and imprisoned in Impel Down for treason by the Marines, there is even a theory that Doffy himself could have picked up Roci and imprisoned him in his secret jail on Dress Rosa. This could all very well explain the fact that Cora is alive and has not contacted Law for all 13 years...
But..
For me personally, all theories of Cora's survival collapse against the ruthless fact that Sengoku himself declared Rocinante dead. If anyone but the commander-in-chief of the Marines who definitely received all the reliable facts confirming the death of his subordinate and adopted son. These dry facts of the report that the body of an Doflamingo's officer with the code name Corazon was found among the dead on the island, as well as that merciless photo, deprive me of any hope for a miracle.
Well, in the anime in my opinion, the animators simply tried their best to depict the death throes so that the viewer had no doubts - the character really died, and not just passed out :(
But I admit, yes, I think that even though we were shown the final death of Rocinante as much as possible, but at the same time his grave was not shown (and this is practically a mandatory condition for a dead character for Oda), there is always room for a ghost of hope.
And also, in my opinion, the possible return of Cora will not ruin the drama and life choice of Law. The main thing is to present it competently and delicately. And Oda is a really master at his masterpiece.
