Dude we finally got back our SERIOUS and EDGY (lol) writing!!! OF COURSE IT IS HELLO???
Ninjago is the kind of world that could totally benefit from a darker tone than it's rating currently allows for. In first few seasons, though the show was still light, it was absolutely a more serious atmosphere. Possession, Sons of Garmadon and Hunted remain some of my favorite seasons because of how gritty they got, so seeing some of that same dark theming return in Monstrosity???
Not to mention, this entire series started with Kai as the main character. OG fans have probably been STARVING for this, not to mention a lot of Kai's screen time in recent years was kinda botched since Tommy hated him so much. This is a treat. A little snack. For us. ❤
It's so funny how uniting Monstrosity is for both the entire fanbase and seemingly all sorts of members of the Ninjago crew??? Both the Hagemans and Tommy have tweeted positively towards this trailer, and rn there's a post on Twitter with almost 10 thousand likes??? Bro is Monstrosity gonna be the next big Thing for Ninjago or something???

When does a candle become a blaze
When the hell did Kai become a monster?????
Anyways I'm ill

It’s you!

Despite everything, it’s still you.

Jay becomes a snake. Zane is a nindroid. Nya merged with the ocean. Lloyd becomes an oni. Cole becomes a ghost.
Every single ninja has become a ‘monster’/an inhuman being physically.
Kai is only one who hasn’t.
Instead, in Ninjago Monstrosity, he will become a monster mentally. Losing all sense of self as he hopes desperately for survival. For the feeling of love to fill his heart once more.
Kai is shown to be actively clinging to his humanity and sanity in the trailer, as his voice slowly shifts to a rougher, tireder tone. He is losing himself in a way none of the others ever have, because physically he is human. There is no supernatural force making him become something he isn’t, he isn’t becoming something he already was (at least, he hopes). His blood isn’t pushing him to follow instincts.
The only way Kai could become a monster in the land he is in, is through himself.

Kai really is an extrovert because he goes weeks without talking to the people he likes and became a depressed mess of a man, then the second he saw his friends again he was fine

Bringing back my headcanon that Morro absolutely became an archaeology/history nerd on his quest for the Tomb and even now that he's One Of The Good Guys it's still something he has an interest in
Why does Morro just know these random things about weapons and metals and stuff and how they work because in no way was it common knowledge that the sword of sanctuary existed or its abilities, and what was even less common knowledge was what the prismatic blades are and what prismatic steel does.
How did he just know these things, especially about the prismatic sword and how you can see souleaters/souls through them. Like not even a second in and he immediately recognised the material the sword Arin was holding and wondered how Arin didn’t know what to do with it.
I’m telling you he’s some sort of research nerd like Wu and Misako.
