Happy you feel that way, anon! Ansel's my personal favorite RO. (shhh don't tell anyone I said that) He's the kind of RO I find myself gravitating towards in IF's-- soft-spoken, a bit uptight, often with religious affiliations?? It's the ex-Catholic in me I guess 😭

But anyways glad you love Ansel as much as I do and that makes me even more excited for you guys to see his introduction (which I just finished writing, yay!)

From scale 1 to 10 how jealous can the cast get if someone hit on mc? Both in the crushing stage and in a relationship

Harriet-- 7/10 in the crushing stage, 5/10 in a relationship. In a relationship her mentality would be that the MC is already hers, so there's not much need to worry, however she'd send the person who flirted with the MC a withering glance for good measure. But during the crushing stage, the doubts of all the reasons why the MC might not want to be with her (marital status, she's their employer, etc.) would form and she'd be more jealous.

Ansel-- 4/10 in the crushing stage, 8/10 in a relationship. He's pretty late to realize his feelings for the MC, so he's less aware if someone else were to be interested in the MC before they're in a relationship. If a person were to hit on the MC while they're together, his past experiences with his fiancé would affect how jealous he gets and he'd not-so-covertly question the MC as to who that person was and what their intentions were before they reassured him that they're nobody to worry about.

C-- 8/10 in the crushing stage, 7.5/10 in a relationship. During the crushing stage, their dislike of the MC is at war with their intense jealousy at seeing someone else flirt with the MC. They'll try to make the other person look bad in front of the MC to dissuade them from pursuing anything. They've got a similar mentality to Harriet while in a relationship in that they're confident that the MC is theirs, but their methods of warding off unwanted flirting from others would be a bit more extreme than just a harsh stare.

Marshall-- 3/10 in the crushing stage, 4/10 in a relationship. He's not a jealous person in general, and his mindset is that if the MC is not actually in a relationship with them, than the MC can hit on whoever they please. In a relationship they're not jealous either, but they'd be a bit concerned, like "hey, I noticed this person flirting with you earlier? Should we talk about that?"

Annabelle-- 5/10 in the crushing stage, 4/10 in a relationship. Her type of jealousy is closer to sadness than bitterness. She's not going to try to dissuade the MC from being with someone else if her and the MC aren't together, but rather silently wallow in her feelings. In a relationship, (if the MC was fine with PDA, of course) she'd walk over to where the MC and the person who was flirting with them were and practically drape herself over the MC, using petnames for them and making it very clear that the MC is spoken for.

Honorifics question

Would you guys like the honorific the MC uses (miss, mr, mx) be decided by the gender that they are, so for example Mx for a NB!MC and so on, or would it be better if the player got to choose that themselves?

Will Harriet's romance route be a caring/loving one from her side or will it be more of a hot and cold situation? (As in... will she try to deny her feelings for MC and act indifferent at times or will she embrace them and be open about her attraction to/with the MC).

I know the story is in early development so you don't have to answer it if you don't want to or if you feel like it's too spoiler-y, but I'm just very curious about her and her romance route hehe.

Because Harriet is married, she obviously can't be very outward about her feelings toward the MC, however she's not in denial about them. It's an unspoken truth within the house that Harriet and her husband, Amos, aren't exactly in the most passionate relationship, so she doesn't have many reservations about being unfaithful, however she still sort of respects his dignity so she's not gonna like. Make out with MC in public or something? In private, however, she's pretty caring towards the MC.

Her route also varies a lot based on the MC's choices on things unrelated to romance. One specific choice the MC makes around the middle of the story seriously changes their relationship dynamic, (it's also one of the biggest branch splits I have planned so far) but alas, tis too spoilery to get into now 🤭

A MESSAGE TO THE INTERACTIVE FICTION COMMUNITY

I shouldn’t have to say this, but apparently, some of y’all need a wake-up call:

STOP HARASSING AUTHORS. Stop badgering them, stop guilt-tripping them, and for the love of god, stop sexually harassing them.

Authors in this community are putting blood, sweat, and soul into writing free games and stories — for you. They don’t owe you updates. They don’t owe you romance routes. They don’t owe you your weird little fantasies. They are not your personal writing service.

Some of you are not just entitled — you’re predatory. If you're sending inappropriate messages to authors, making creepy comments about characters or romance options, or trying to blur boundaries for your own gratification? That’s not “flirting.” That’s not “engaging with the story.” That’s harassment.

If someone tells you a boundary — respect it. If they don’t update for a while — that’s their right. If they don’t write your favorite RO the way you want — tough. They are not here to cater to your every whim. They are here because they love stories. Don’t make them regret sharing them.

This behavior isn’t just “annoying.” It’s driving talented, kind, and brilliant creators out of the community. So if you’ve been part of the problem, take a step back and ask yourself what kind of fan you actually want to be — because right now, some of you are acting like the exact reason creators lock their inboxes, go on hiatus, or quit entirely.

Writers are not your therapists, your kink dispensers, or your emotional punching bags. They’re people. Treat them like it.

What would make it even more confusing is C’s open disdain for the MC 🙃 They certainly wouldn’t be very public with their affections either so the cast’s reaction would be this:

So as of right now I’ve got about 1/3 of chap 1 written. Yay! Unfortunately though I haven’t been as productive as I usually am because my AC’s broken and it’s 91 degrees F/32.8 degrees C where I live so my brain is melting 🫠
