Sunday’s dose of ocean. Looking North from Narrawallee Inlet. Mid day, 23 degrees, light southerly wind.

Lot 102, our Block! Well, soon anyway. The subdivision is still being finished and this means sneaking past the fences on the weekends to have a peek! Notice the street trees are in, some sort of Maleleuca with think, and there is grass on the verge.
680sqm of land to build our house and establish a garden. Looks bare now, but for us it holds promises of a welcoming home, a retreat when challenges threaten to be overwhelming and a garden for sharing times with friends, birds and native creatures.
We are scribbling plans on envelopes, researching building materials and reading the ‘bible’ for sustainable housing: Your Home, Australia’s guide to environmental friendly sustainable homes. Published by the Australian Government! Yes, they once did belief in building a more sustainable future!

Saying farewell and hello
After 21 years in the same house in Canberra, more precisely in Spence, in Belco, we made the move that we had talked about on and off over many years. The kids had all left and are spread far and wide over Australia and overseas, retirement was in sight and hubby was yearning for the sea. We made a snap decision to buy a block of land in Narrawallee, a small town next to Ulladulla, Milton and Mollymook and mid way between Nowra and Batemans Bay or Canberra and Sydney, if you go via the coast. That led to putting the family home on the market, selling superfluous belongings and furniture and negotiating with parents in law that we would move into the spare 2 rooms in their house while we build. Yep, it feels like being teenagers again!
And then it happened so quick - house sold in a few days and some weeks later the truck picked up the furniture we couldn’t part with and some 80 boxes of ‘essentials’. Now most of it is stored away and we are discovering our new surroundings.
