Updated Project Details - Week 12
Name:
Brisbane (BNE) Education Package
Slogan:
Unlock Brisbane’s History
Current Logo:
Project Description:
Our project objective is to provide an educational service to further enhance the BOH experience for architecture enthusiasts and students all round. The product will be PDF educational packages that are available alongside purchase of a BOH ticket. This is intended to provide educational assistance and knowledge to the aforementioned groups in particular. The education packages will be suited for different age ranges and focuses. Packages written for younger audiences will include simple language, more pictures, fun facts and activities such as quizzes, word puzzles and crosswords. Contrasted by the university student education package, which will feature specific focus on the architectural background of each landmark, detailed reference lists and extremely detailed research.
The engagement and appeal primarily comes from the need or want to learn something about the building of choice. This is where the university student focus comes into place as it is most likely that an architecture student would need the information provided within these packages, however the historic and cultural information present in the packages could be equally as valuable to primary schools in particular that wish to educate their students on the history of key Brisbane locations through affordable excursion opportunities. The scope resides primarily within educational properties, however, could also be considered entertainment, as cultural tourism has become a growing trend, one that works well with the product BOH provides.

Reflection from Week 12
The week 12 workshop consisted of discussing the final showcase and ensuring appropriate display of our project through our group project website. After the workshop, it was clear that the group was on the right track and adhering to out timeline.
As of right now, there are a few things we have left to do that are vital to our final showcase. The promotional video which allows viewers to fully understand our product and how it is used needs to be done as soon as our university students’ booklet is complete as proofreading is still being done. Subsequently, the completion of our kids/childrens booklet will be done following the similar template as the university students’ booklet to ensure consistency.
Additionally, the website is in the making and the content will be added as we complete the video, kids/childrens booklet and the university students’ booklet.

Preliminary Display Proposal
Project Prototype:
The high fidelity prototype of the education package booklet is both physical and digital. A package will be able to be purchased from the website (digital) which then provides the individual with a booklet depending on the selected package (kids or student/adult). The consumer is then able to view it on their tablet (digital) or print out a copy of the booklet (physical). The current proposed booklets would be A4 size in order to ensure that the content provided can be maximised. Additionally, the website will contain details of the location spotlight, package options, demonstration video, etc.
Project display prototype:
During the BCI showcase, the project would be exhibited through a variety of images which would display the booklet as a physical mock up done through photoshop. This allows the project to be seen as a physical product whilst still being digitally viewed.
Additionally, a demonstration video would be extremely beneficial for viewers on both the BCI showcase and project website. Ideally, 2 videos would be produced. The first would be an example of how to purchase a package and work the website. The second video would be a longer video demonstrating the physical and digital version of the booklet in action around Brisbane and the City Hall. However, due to many of the group members not being based in Brisbane at the moment, we are still discussing the logistics of a demonstration video.
Currently, a list of assets that we would need to create would include photoshop mockups, demonstration videos, website graphics, illustrations as well as content and visuals for both booklets.
As shown in the section below there is the wireframe mockup of 2 pages of the website. It will provide a separate page that directs consumers to purchase a package which then shows the packages available and a snippet of what is included. The consumers will also be able to get a slight preview of the booklet before purchasing the package in order to fully visualise what they are purchasing.

Feedback from peers
Children package could be geared towards what teachers want. This is due to the fact that schools could utilise the booklet for educational school trips.
Adapt same elements layout for children and university student package to improve consistency. (eg. the university student one features a govener & the kids one will feature a govener with googly eyes)
Provide before and after of City hall rennovation (1980s rennovations)
Have more text heavy areas, no need to make the booklet so succinct.

Changes from week 7-10:
To begin with the project looked at partnering specifically with universities to establish special advantages to architecture students to assist in their learning and assessment. We decided to stray from this idea and create a concept that gives BOH a new product to distribute as opposed to helping them strengthen a relationship with an already solid market. This led us to move towards education packages, a concept that could expand into any demographic that realistically had interest or needs in relation to Brisbane history and architectural knowledge. From here we cemented the concept outlined in the above project outline.
Changes are being considered however to factor in the creative criticism from the provocateurs. Minor changes included factoring in document updates into the budget whenever information grows out-dated in addition to adding sections into the packages regarding eco-friendly practices in the workspace and knowledge on building materials for each location. In addition large formatting changes were suggested such as changing the education packages to include information precinct by precinct as opposed to landmark by landmark. This would mean less education packages have to be commissioned, saving time on the writing and designing segments of the process. This financial shortcut can make up for the previously mentioned document updates. In addition to changing the creation process, an update to the distribution strategy was also recommended. This would see the company focusing on licensing to education providers as opposed to selling the resource to individual consumers one by one while purchasing their tickets. Our group is still finding ways to implement these new ideas smoothly into our current concept to improve the overall project.

Provocateur Feedback
From our presentation to the provocateur, the feedback we received was very minimal and the provocateur displayed a positive response to our idea. Ann from Brisbane Open House’s suggestions are as follows:
-Enhance the educational aspects of the booklet (include more pages)
-Possibly focus on particular precincts

Final Project Idea
Our project objective is to provide an educational service to further enhance the BOH experience for architecture enthusiasts and students all round. The product will be PDF educational packages available after purchase of BOH tickets which is intended to provide educational assistance and fun facts to the aforementioned groups in particular. The engagement and appeal primarily comes from the need or want to learn something about the building of choice. The scope resides solely within educational properties.
Prototype and exhibition
The prototype will be an example of both the children’s and students' education package options. These will be in the form of PDFs, however for the sake of the exhibition, each page will be on display in order to effectively demonstrate the quality and depth of each package.
Key steps/tasks that need to be undertaken in order for our project to progress
1. Conduct a wide range of research for both BOH and Brisbane City Hall.
2. Select relevant information for both packages - ‘Kids Package’ and ‘Student Package’.
3. Tom begins to write and edit content for the two packages showcased in our prototype.
4. Tom shares written information with the group and Rebecca & Alyson start brainstorming design choices for the prototype. Rebecca will focus more so on the formatting of both packages, while Alyson will mainly work on designing images such as the cartoonish pictures in the ‘Kids Package’.
5. Alyson & Rebecca finalise the information we have put together into a draft of the prototype. Each group member as well as Sarah will look over it and give feedback in regards to how both packages could be improved to target their specific audiences.

Project Idea 3
BOH is going to open up the building for musicians to use freely. They are allowed to use the parts of the building which have fewer visitors.
Relationship to provocation
BHO is now facing the problem of decreasing number of visitors due to the raging of covid-19 and unclear operation policy. Therefore, This project is written to enable BOH to make unique and stylish projects that can impress people.
Form
This project form is a kind of analogue, people can participate offline.
This project greatly encourages people's engagement in BOH, and at the same time, as a live recorded MV activity, it has certain interactive behaviors.
This activity is a tentative project at the beginning, which needs the popularity of famous singers to drive the whole project . And, if it develops well, it can be developed as a unique activity/tag of BOH for a long time.
Dimensions - It is expected to be a small recording hall with a capacity of 20 people
Location- For the time being, there is no specific site. The former activity site of BOH can be transformed into the activity site.
Engagement
The targeted clients will be musicians who cannot afford rent or just fledgle. MV production is a high cost low profit activity. Site is one of the most expensive. Therefore, the project will provide a free site without visitors to encourage musicians to produce MV.
The project will show available buildings or sites that can be used on the website. Musicians are able to reserve online. BOH only needs to have limited workers to keep the site safe and not be damaged.
Scope
Reach- Because it is a small recording site, the number of people I may contact is not very large, maybe 30 to 40 people
Engage - It depends on the popularity of the singer. It's impossible to predict now, but it's certainly going to be a lot more than the number of reach people
Employ - Because it takes one day to complete the recording, the staff on the scene can't be less effective than the small music festival. Currently, it is estimated to have 5-10 people.
They come from different sectors, but they may have some cooperative relationships. After all, it takes a day of high-quality cooperation. We hope to find someone who can do this kind of high-intensity work.
They may be singer, photographer, Sound editor, Video editor, Lighting division, Stage effects designer, Stage effects designer, Stage effects designer,. Stage effects designer
Opportunities
Through watching the music videos, people especially youngsters would like to ‘check-in’ the place on social media platforms as long as they want to increase their number of views or likes.
Also, as BOH has built up relationships with various celebrities like the entertainment companies, BOH can seek for further cooperation with them like organizing events.
Limitations
As the main actor of the activity, it may be difficult to find a suitable singer considering the popularity and cooperation.
Under covid-19 safe, some fans may be reluctant to participate in offline projectsIt needs some cost for publicity in the early, so we don't know whether BOH will be limited in finance.
Prototyping and exhibition
Firstly, The simple event process that derived from the research. Then, According to the activity process to make the key frame, according to the keyframe to find more relevant personnel information. The last, Make a simple low fidelity animated explanation of the suggestion.
It can be a simple and easy to understand character image, which clearly expresses the operation process of each staff member and the scene, and stimulates the sense of participation with more cheerful background music.
The current idea is to use simple AE animation, and then we can use actual character capture to shoot small films, or use simple models to shoot stop-motion animation.
We can upload the video on the website and make a special webpage for it, so as to heighten the atmosphere and show that we are a professional and serious project
Areas to research
Similar projects exist in Hong Kong like PMQ and Tai Kwun can be learnt. Their similarity is that traditional building styles are conversed while inside the building is. Only some representative attractions are left in order to let people know more about the history and uniqueness of the building.
It is difficult to figure out the accurate result of users’ needs as there might be a vast array of users’ styles. Therefore, we need digital marketing and business analysis skills to see the users’ target audience each time.
The centre can make a visiting guide for the visitor to follow. Since the visitor who wants to make a click in, the guideline would assist their visit to the building.
