A report just came out from a Palestinian hostage saying he was strapped with bombs and sent into a Hamas tunnel, with Israel prepared to blow the tunnel up with his body if fighters were found inside and yet people are still making the “Hamas uses human shields” arguments that have been confirmed to be a myth with no supporting evidence

001 - Maude Latour: Short Review
I'm calling it: Maude Latour is up next. I mean, she's already made some waves with her cover of Kids In America, featured in the Netflix original, Do Revenge (a great watch, by the way). I found out about Maude one day when Spotify was shooting random singles at me and her song Furniture came on and blessed my ears. Halfway through my first stream, it was already in my liked songs playlist. A year ago today she released her EP, 001. I started writing this review a couple months ago and left it in my drafts but I'm trying to actually commit to this blog a little more so I decided today might be a good time to finish it :D
From the start, 001 has a very cool sound. The opening, titular track sets this sort of sci-fi-esque mood present in a lot of her music. I feel like if this EP were an element it would be water. Let alone the water flowing around her in the cover art, or the song literally named Cyclone (or the cover for said song's single release), Maude's voice is so soothing and crisp, rare qualities which I love.
There's a lot of cool songs on here. Headphones comes to mind. That little bend in the guitar is so mesmerizing. Maude's voice is one that works well with vocal effects and this song plays with them well.
I love her rhyme schemes so much, especially in Lola. I mean there's a reason her whole fan base loves this song so much: it's for the girls. Maude lets you know what's up. She's here to serve and protect her planet and her daughters. She's turned on when she's respected.
All around, this EP is pretty chill. I can dance, I can think, I can jam in the car, I can do a lot with this EP. Plus I mean, come on. Cyclone and Reality Television are both especially killers.
Over all, definitely worth a visit. It's all of 23 minutes and if you're a fan of girly-pop, this is an EP you could definitely spend some time with.

Happy 10th Anniversary to Pure Heroine!
I completely dipped from this blog for a minute there, whoops. After all, my pfp is Lorde, what did you expect?
Anyways, it's crazy to think it's been a decade!!!! Today is the 10 year anniversary of her's truly, Miss Ella Marija Lani Yelich O'Connor's freshman album Pure Heroine. And what a way to come into the pop scene: reinventing it completely.
I know that's bold statement and I don't care! Tell me there wasn't a noticeable shift after Royals hit the radio stations! I remember when my friend showed me that song for the first time in 2013 we sat in my basement and listened to it on loop like 10 times. A couple months after that I tried to get into her music, but it just didn't speak to me at the time since I was like 11 and not very cultured.
This album really speaks for itself. The first time I had listened and really connected to it was right after I had graduated high school and I was about to go to my first university (which I'd transfer out of after a year, whoops). I remember watching the sun set with my friends and 400 Lux playing in my head (and probably over our speakers at some point). This album helped me through a lot of weird emotions. Leaving my town & friends behind to try and make something bigger of my life, wishing it could just be small and manageable and easy forever, not to mention the impending doom of COVID-19.
This goes down under my list of albums I've managed to find a home in, and that's a connection I wish I could just give to people. Having that sort of a connection to a piece of music is just such an incredible source of comfort.
Every time I hear this album part of me thinks it's 2014 again. It kinda makes me wanna throw on an infinity scarf and watch something with Shailene Woodley. Also, I really wish we could have gotten a repress of the album or something for this milestone. Or at least a story post. Whomp Whomp :(
Speaking of milestones, Royals managed to pass a billion streams on Spotify! I think if we all do our part Team might make it too :)
I have about 25 minutes to midnight and A World Alone just finished so I think I ought to wrap this up so I can proofread. Thank you Lorde for all you've done and continue to do <3
